    It’s a great thing to read your story and have more hope for myself. I have four weeks since the injury and five days since the surgery. I managed to fracture all five metatarsal bones and the ligament. The orthopaedic surgeon said, I could not have done it any worse. After listening to your story and reading other people’s comments, I know I am not alone and gives me more hope to go through this. Yes, I was down and really depressed. I got the injury the night before my daughter’s wedding. Thats when I realized how much we take for granted in life. Like being able to walk. I don’t know what I would do without my husband, but I hope everyone can have as much support and hope as I have. Speedy recovery.

      Since yours has been now one year ago. I wonder how your recovery went and how you're doing today.
      Hope you're doing fine

    Thankyou for your story ❤ I recently met with a car accident and had lisfranc surgery after .. my ortho immediately did the surgery in 2 days post the incident … now I have a plate , rod and a screw being an active person who walked 10-12 k
    Steps a day , workout , do yoga it wasn’t easy as the recovery takes time was 6 weeks to 2 months … it’s been a month and I still have a cast on .. I’m grateful foe all the live and support from my family, friends and I can’t wait to get back to my lifestyle.. it may take time but we will all get back stronger ❤😁 wishing this beautiful community more power and strength

    Thank you for sharing your story. I tore my lisfranc ligament and fractured 2 metatarsals about 12 days ago. I tripped on some rope, and like you, all of my body weight came down on my foot injuring it. I had my surgery 5 days ago. They put a plate and 5 screws in. I am still in the original post -operative cast until the 28th when they will take it off and remove my stitches. Everything is a huge mission now. I definitely learned to enjoy the small things like a cool breeze through the window, potting a new plant or enjoying a cup of tea. I have moments of feeling sad and trapped but more often I feel grateful for the advances in Orthopaedic medicine that I get to benefit from now. I also had a very experienced surgeon which made me feel as though I was in good hands. Well wishes to you and thanks again for your story

    Hi im watching this video 3 weeks after my lisfranc injury. Its crazy to me how a simple accident (I missed a step too) is having such a huge impact on my quality of life. Im not really able to move around yet but my orthopaedic dr is doing his best to avoid surgery as of now because I cant afford to take time off for the recovery. Im lucky the ER doctors caught it as soon as i met them. Thank you for sharing your story 😢

    @emilyspears8911 3 дні тому

    I'm only 5 minutes into your video and this sounds so similar to what happened to me, though it sounds like your injury was worse than mine. I injured my lisfranc getting out of a truck. At the ER I was told nothing is broken, you'll be fine in 2-3 days then I followed up because it wasn't getting better, got an MRI, a CT scan, then surgery (a month after the injury). The bruising on the bottom of my foot is still there 8 weeks post-injury. I can also attest to the fact that getting the stitches out was the worst pain of the whole experience other than the initial break and I didn't take any pain meds that day either. I wasn't prepared for the "it gets worse before it gets better" after surgery. But praise the Lord that I have an amazing Ortho doctor from Andrews Institute and it's healing well! I go back in 3 weeks for a follow-up X-ray and will be able to be weight bearing for the first time in over 2 months.

    Thank you so much for your story and also all the positive comments below! This is such a scary experience to go through. It really makes you realize how fragile and intricate our bodies are. It also makes you appreciate things we take for granted daily. I have a severe Lisfranc Injury along with some broken metatarsals on January 11th and had my surgery on January 14th. I have 5 screws, plates and a pin. I had my stitches and splint removed 2 weeks after surgery. On February 23rd I had my pin removed and cast in hopes of getting put into a Walking boot but unfortunately due to the position my foot was in the cast my Achilles is stuck and I am unable to flex my foot or move my ankle to get into the walking boot. I am waiting to start Physical Therapy in 2 days in hopes to help get into the walking boot so I can gain mobility back and won’t have to have a secondary surgery to fix my Achilles that is stuck. I’m praying that I will not have to do that🙏🏾. This process has been very hard, painful and depressing! If it was not for my husband helping me and being there for me every step of the way I would not know what to do. Thanks again for posting your story and providing all of us going through this some hope and light at the end of the tunnel.

    Omg I have to tell you my story!! I also work in the hospital and have all of the same fears about surgery! I fell the exact same way!! ONE STEP!! The only difference, on top of the lisfranc fracture, is that I also broke my ankle in 3 places AND sissies my other ankle 😮. Injury 12/1/23, surgery (6 hours!) was 12/13/23... I will never take the simple things in life for granted ever again!! Just to be able to go outside, to walk, to drive, to go to work, to shower on my own, to make a meal, etc etc etc. I do look forward to recovering!! Toughest thing I have ever endured! I was so distraught as a fast walking on the go new yorker. I got a book week 6. I was able to start walking in my boot week 9. The boot is so painful and my doctor did advise I can wear sneakers. Wonderful job!! You are inspiring as I sit here 12 days post-op from LisFranc (with displaced and fx metatarsals). Your story helped as so few women speak out, I'm a nurse and mine happened early am barefooted going down wooden steps (missed 4 but who's counting, right?). I don't know if you have been shocked to see what's on UA-cam: PT channels encouraging post-op, non weight bearing foot surgery patients to do leg exercises..from the floor and standing position..and people commenting how great!
    You are honest, earnest and speaking from your actual experience..I will follow your recovery!

    Thank you for your story. It was really reassuring. I broke mine in a car accident. My bones were also shattered. Your story just made me feel super strong and reassured that my difficulties are only human and reassured me that I am actually doing really well.. The only difference is I've done it alone. I'm a single mother and still have 4 little ones at home. So it has been challenging but I feel like I'm doing really good considering. I have had a few days where I'm very frustrated because I can't do everything I want. The hardest part is just trying to relax and be forgiving of myself for not having everything perfect. Like I like.. I'm also on a scooter. The scooter does make it alot easier to get around. Thank God for scooters! 😆my older 2 girls have been as helpful as possible ages 9 and 13. I also realized where I failed as a parent and realized how much I really did cater to my children. I'm learning to give them more responsibility. They were so used to me just following them around cleaning and doing everything. Now its super hard. So they are learning in the process too. Thank you for taking the time and bringing awareness. I think this is also helpful for ppl that dont have supportive families, so they can see its actually pretty serious and takes time to heal. Also I think we may have had our injuries around the same time but a year a part. My accident was 12/31/21 and surgery was 2/3/22. So I am able to pritty much follow the same recovery process. How long after surgery did you start to bear weight?

    Oh my goodness... This was my life, too! My life forever changed on 03/11/21. I fell and fractured my lisfranc joint, 2 metatarsal, and ankle. I have 4 screws on top of my foot, cadaver ligament repair, and 11 screws and plate in my ankle. Emergency surgery with 2 weeks in a cast, 10 weeks with an air boot. 12 weeks on a knee scooter and non weight bearing. 5 and a half months of physical therapy. It's a very long road. My surgeon says it is a 2 - and a half-year process. I have been blessed to work at an orthopedic specialty hospital for the past 20 years. Amazing care

    This was so helpful. I injured my foot 3 weeks ago, have seen 3 doctors and none of them will order an MRI for me! I have all the signs of a Lisfranc injury -- either a ligament tear or a fracture. How do I get a definitive diagnosis??? Is that through an MRI? I am seeing one more dr. tomorrow and if he will not order one I found a radiology clinic that will do one, self-pay, for people who are underinsured. I am NOT underinsured, but might as well be since the dr won't order it! I will have to pay more than I would with my insurance, but I want to know exactly what is wrong with my foot and get a proper treatment plan. Is MRI the best diagnostic tool for a Lisfranc injury? I am so fed up with doctors and our health care system. Katherine, I hope you are doing better now and fully recovered -- thank you again!

      I actually was told I fractured my 2 one and had a torn ligament they put me in a non weight boot. During the next days I was in full blown pain. Waking up with horrible Charlie horses so bad they took hours to release. Than when I took the boot off to shower or sleep my foot was in pain I felt like my ankle was gonna snap body was sweating so bad I felt like I was going to faint. I call doctor and get told take aspirin. Put my foot up we will check it in a month. I can walk but I limp still have a black spot under my foot. No MRI was ordered so it’s been a month and go to doctors today. Mind you I have been out of work for a month. I tried walking with a lite shoe and my top part of foot can not take weight and I hear a popping noise my toes won’t move and no feeling in them. I kept sending doctors office texts telling them and all I get is doctor doesn’t have any opens you can go to urgent care if you can’t wait till doctors appointment. It’s not like I want to be outta work for nothing it feels like I have waited 6 weeks for nothing. I need my foot because my job requires me to be on them and I can’t afford to go back to work and go out again because the limping is so bad. Any ideas on how to make your doctor take it more seriously or are they stuck because insurance doesn’t want to pay

    I tore my lisfranc in July 2020 and same thing,the radiologist missed the tear and apparently it’s only something a foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon would catch because I was told I had a sprain. Fast forward a month and I’m still not better at all (actually worse) I finally called and got an appt with a orthopedic surgeon who wanted to do the surgery 2 days later. I’m a small business owner and had to wait a week to get my affairs in order. Had the surgery the next week,three plates and 12 screws miserable 6 weeks of non weight bearing. Had I saw a surgeon immediately I may have been just non Weight bearing without surgery but I guess I’ll never know. I’ll say without hesitation don’t try and be a hero and go with Tylenol and Advil. I don’t know what I would have done without the Percocet. I had a generous old school surgeon who didn’t mind prescribing it to me as long as he was legally allowed to. I never abused or became addicted to it,when I was done I quit taking it. I feel bad for anyone who has a surgeon who is anti narcotic pain pills after the first week. 95% of people never use them again. I love your story,but I would say don’t be a hero because ibuprofen 800 or Naproxen 500 just doesn’t cut it. 2+ years later I can do most everything,but I still get days where it’s sore,and some days it’s really good. Now when it gets sore ibuprofen is all I need. Just don’t ever expect it to be the way it was before you hurt it. If a person is a professional athlete it normally ends their career. Terrible injury,and I’m really glad to hear you used an orthopedic surgeon because an podiatrist would have F’d it up and you’d be screwed for life. The surgeon actually said to me that podiatrist’s are for treating bunions,prescribing rip off orthotics,and treating athletes foot. LOL,seemed harsh that a Dr. Would say that about another Dr because they usually stick together like cops do. I see this video is a year old,and I hope you are doing well?

I came off crutches a couple of weeks ago but still have a long boot to wear. I’ve only just gone back to work this week as my work means I’ll be on my feet all day. Thanx for posting this!! I had lisfranc stabilization surgery(& bunion fusion surgery)22 days ago. Mine..is different. I never actually injured my lisfranc, as in 1 event, my MRI(for a stress fracture & 2 check 2 check my big toe ligaments)revealed my lisfranc had healed from an injury in the past(I think I know when, but I thought it was a sprain. It “healed”?within a week tho, so🤷‍♂️). So I had screws & pins in my big toe, the lisfranc, & a stress fracture mid foot(I’ve broken my foot 3 times in the last 5 years), so I obviously have bad & very flat feet. I’m a runner tho, also(foolishly, I know). The inactivity is killing me, physically & mentally. So…I cannot fathom THAT lengthy of a layoff from..everything. I’m…fighting the urge to panic about it, every day(night time especially, lying in bed worrying about it). Any advice on how to cope with this,,,fear? Thanx again! Sorry so long😉

    I am 6 weeks post injury because my podiatrist is on vacation. When you said that your doctor wanted the surgery done in 3 weeks I panicked. I had my MRI but I won't know if I need surgery for another week, the MRI notes say "lisfranc disruption" why they don't quantify the disruption as torn or not I do not know because not knowing is torture. I am just dreading the news.

    I have a Lisfranc and some metatarsal fractures with a similar accident like yours, and it was rough staying off the foot. At first, the ER Doc and Ortho doc forgot to tell me to be totally non-weightbearing and I had no experience, so I sometimes lightly rested my heel on the floor while standing with crutches but then my swelling worsened. I don't know whether I will be able to walk or resume exercise the way I used to.

    I got into a cycling accident and diagnosed with lisfranc injury. My MRI didn't show signs of tear so I didn't need to go to surgery. I'm on my 3rd month, I'm on a walking boot and still on two crutches. My ortho cleared me to put 50% body weight on the injured foot and start my physical therapy but I still find it a bit painful and uncomfortable putting weight on the injured foot. Thanks for sharing your experience! Can you explain more about the anesthesia part? You said the medicine (propafol sp?) burns when it goes in? Did you actually feel this? • @katherinekobe8449
      @katherinekobe8449  3 роки тому +1

      Hey @xcalabur18! Thanks so much for watching! So, propofol is a routine anesthesia med given to patients having surgery that pits people instantly to sleep. The surgery nurses (pre-op and OR) actually warned me prior that I would feel a slight burning in my IV and would be out within seconds. Let me tell you, they were not lying ha! From what I remember, I felt the burning and the next thing I was woken up by the medical staff letting me know the surgery was over. Pretty powerful medicine ha! Anyways, I totally get the nerves, that was me 💯 percent! They also give you medicine to lower one’s anxiety through your IV beforehand as well. Thank you so much and I will keep you in my prayers for your surgery day and recovery process!
