Hello. Did you get an answer for this question. I am facing the same problem except replace the laser source with a an endmill. I want refined mesh only near the endmill and the endmill is moving across the workpiece.
thank you for your videos on adaptive remeshing they are very useful for me. In the abaqus manual it's written that one can perform a preparatory analysis such a linear perturbation, and with less complicated steps, load history and materials to obtain a refined mesh (or maybe error indicators), instead of remeshing the actual model (more complicated and with multiple steps and with plasticity...). I never found examples of this, but maybe i can simply point to the .odb file of this preparatory analysis from the model I want to remesh, using manual remeshing like you did...I have to try. Do you have experience in this?
As you mentioned, you can simply follow this video, in the first job use simple step and material, then the same as the video improve the mesh quality and after obtaining desired mesh (maybe after a few job) for the last job you can change the material or step but keep the mesh.
Dear sir, I have been following you for quite a long time now. I just has one query related of my research area. Can you please provide me insights about defining stresses for a model containing shell element. In other words Lets say shell element has a (S4R) has a five intgration point along the thickness. I found that it is possible to provide a initial state (at intgration points) such as temperature, stress etc. even before running analysis. I wish to know how. As I did some literatures it is not possinble usisng GUI, but by python scripting it is possible. Can you please help me with this, either directing me with some examples or so... Thanks in advance.
Initial states can be defined both in GUI and by subroutines. You can find defining initial temperature in this video: ua-cam.com/video/V2IS8X19HKE/v-deo.html Initial stress can also be defined by directly inserting the values, by an ODB file or by subroutines.
@@engineering_software Thank you for your instant reply. Just in addition can you please tell me how to do it for shell along the thickness (integration points).
Thanks a lot, very intresting video. thanks from Algeria.
If I have a laser source to be moved on a plate and want to have adaptive meshing only in near by regions of laser movement. What should i do.
It seems that you need ALE remeshing:

That's a new sub from me, thank you so much..

Thank you for the video mate. is there any way I can reduce the number of elements? i get capped at a 1000 elements.
Dear Suraj
Number of elements directly depends on the desired error indicator.
Thanks! which version did you use?
