I’m an American currently living in NZ ...for 13 yrs. I just bought my first Kowtow piece last week.....it’s a black top.....it was expensive....but I think, worth it.....it’s just an excellent shape and the fabric is perfect and I know I’ll wear it for years.....enjoyed the video.
Hi Emma! Love that Kowtow dress on you. Could you consider doing a video on how you discover new brands such as this? Such as: do you come across them by chance or do you set time aside to research higher end brands, what criteria must they meet before you decide to spend money to try them out, etc. Thanks!
Even though it’s already hot (30C+) here in Northern California, I haven’t got my shorts out yet. I did so much lockdown-boredom online shopping that I have no room in my wardrobe. Plus, I find that wearing casual dresses is so much more comfortable and a lot of my shorts require ironing to look presentable. I’m gradually switching to cotton knit ones that don’t need ironing.
Just found you recently, I'm obsessed with your style, definite goals in terms of philosophy, colors and outfit combinations. Thanks for such great content. Xx
I’m just looking forward to not having to wear thick jumpers, jeans, a padded coat and boots every day and putting on a sleeveless top with lightweight linen trousers!
Ugh I just adore your style Emma. So laid back and yet chic. Not worrying about what’s “ on trend “ just wearing gorgeous classic pieces and being comfortable. Just perfection xx 😘
Kowtow is pronounced "kow (as in cow) tao". It's actually a real word to mean to bow/be subservient to someone. More importantly... love the Kowtow dress! It looks comfy and flattering on you :) your height's great for it -- not sure a shorter girl like me I could pull it off!!
Unfortunately in Germany the weather also is much too cold and windy for this time of the year. But I am really looking forward to wear my new long dresses made of cotton and linen. I also love my Birkis! Thanks for your video again, Emma! I love your casual minimal-style und you are such a big inspiration for me! ❤️❤️❤️
Note: most Habotai/Habutai silks are not crinkled, though. Habutai is the fabric used for most silk scarves, tops and dresses, it is semi-matte, meaning it has a slight sheen. Charmeuse is the very high-sheen glossy satin weave used for many blouses, slip skirts and dresses. Chiffon is the thin, gauzy, nearly matte weave used in some scarves. I almost always prefer the more casual look of Habutai, but will buy charmeuse if it’s the only way I can get a particular item. Then there is the completely matte raw silk, which can look like linen. Obviously, I’m a huge fan of silk, but since learning that. cruelty is involved in its manufacture, some of the joy in it has been replaced by guilt.
"I can't remember if it was one year ago, or two years ago, when I bought these shorts". When Emma says a piece is old, you know it's old. Meaning she's worked it into her wardrobe, gotten her cost-per-wear right down, and is showing us how to be fashion-conscious *and* eco-conscious. We need more content creators like you, Emma, who consume and create *mindfully* If I get yet another video titled "First HUGE Primark haul after lockdown" in my recommended section, I'm going to scream.
Great to see you showing Kowtow! You might also like Standard Issue for knits and Juliette Hogan for a bit of luxe, and from Australia, Assembly Label (for basics)
I bought a yellow cotton tea dress by Mango and I'm soooo excited to wear it this summer! This year here in Russia we do have rather coldish May but in three weeks I hope to wear my gorgeous dress)))
@@EmmaHill ah thank you for taking the time to reply! I've just moved to the UK, and your videos have helped the transition a bit through enabling a sense of familiarity. Thank you for being lovely and just human; it has meant a great deal x
I have a crinkle skirt in navy very similar to that one, it is the Ines de la Fresange line for UNIQLO (she does a lot of crinkly skirts) and now I know how to style it -- with my navy/white stripes tee! Thank you!
Effortless elegance. Love love love how you elevate the simplest of pieces. Enjoy setting up the closet for spring/summer - it's a fun time of year 🌟🌟 P.s. how are the babies?
Great video. Love that you show lots of clips showing different outfits with the items. Reminded me of a few outfits I could put together with my own similar pieces. And wow... you really were are the front of the queue when legs were given out 😂😍
These trapeze dresses really look cute on you. It weird how here in the USA it still a bit chilly and the heater will kick on. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
Hi Emma! Did you notice your Dear Frances Tye Slides making a 'sticking' sound when you first got them? Wondering if that's typical of leather slides and if it dissipates over time.
Hey Emma, thanks for the awesome content as always. Quick question: you’ve owned the Dear Frances Tye slides for quite some time now, do the straps stretch out a bit eventually? I bought a pair and found the straps a bit narrow for my wide feet, so I’m thinking whether to exchange for a larger size. Thanks in advance. ❤️
Hi Emma!!! You’re so true and genuine!!! Love this video 😍😍😍 can’t wait for summer’s outfit!!!! ❤️ What size do you have for the hm’s silk dress? Love it 😍
I loved this. It is still autumn in the Netherlands, too. I miss Simon. Why don't we see him anymore? Did we love him and his outfits and his comments too much😢 😂?
Only because these are more fashion focused videos but he will always pop up in more vlog style content (travel/DIY etc.) He did do the whole bathroom Reno video in case you missed it/him 🤣❤️
Really love that cream dress on you, the cutout one is lovely too but I’d have a serious wardrobe malfunction in that 🙈😆 Those Cos shorts are the perfect length and such a classic style, definitely going to look into them. I’m glad Birkenstock’s have your stamp of approval, I bought a pair of the black Eva ones last year and find them so comfortable!! Let us now wait on the weather gods granting your wish 😉🙏🏼☀️😎.
My Cos shorts are a 36 and my Levis vary between a 30-32 depending on how I want them to fit. I haven't put the shorts in the dryer so I wouldn't know I'm afraid. 👍
Nice items Emma! That dress looks super comfy. I would spent the entire summer in that one haha! Here's hoping the weather will change for the better soon.. it's often the same here as in London it seems.. Greetings from the Netherlands!
What a lovely collection of stylish and thoughtful pieces Emma ... certainly look great on you!! Can’t wait to see pix on your Insta account when the UK rain ever stops and the temperature gets above freezing 🥶 x

Hello there, how are you doing today?
Love that you're featuring lesser known and sustainable brands. Great selection, thanks.
Oooh I've been lusting over those Sir the label dresses for a while now, looks gorgeous on you:) x

Love those cream Dear Frances sandals. You make everything look classy yet casual.
Love Love the white dress.Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
May I ask what size you're in in the vintage Levi's - I have a very similar body shape and height, so it would be helpful to have that reference
I usually take a 30/31 depending on how I want them to fit as they come up quite small 👍
@@EmmaHill ah thank you for taking the time to reply! I've just moved to the UK, and your videos have helped the transition a bit through enabling a sense of familiarity. Thank you for being lovely and just human; it has meant a great deal x
You always have my favorite outfits!!
Just looking at the rail made me super excited - that is my total colour range of my wardrobe x
Great pieces. Those last knot sandals look so lovely 💕

I love the dresses! Great styles as always. 😁👍
Love your video’s!! 😊 I like the Cos shorts and I am looking for some white ones. Could you tell me if they wrinkle a lot?
I don't particularly find they crease a lot, unless you are sat down for a while 👍
@@EmmaHill Thanks, than I’ll give them a try! 😊
Love your hair length! Great video!
Great video. Love that you show lots of clips showing different outfits with the items. Reminded me of a few outfits I could put together with my own similar pieces. And wow... you really were are the front of the queue when legs were given out 😂😍

Yay, watching from NZ so this is extra cool!.
These trapeze dresses really look cute on you. It weird how here in the USA it still a bit chilly and the heater will kick on. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
Love, love, love your style! And how you explain everything. You’re amazing x
Thank you, hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Loved all the items! :)
Emma your style is always my favorite.
Thank you for the video!!👍🏻
Send that dress to the tailor and get pockets set into it! It's too cute to not also be functional.
Hi Emma! Did you notice your Dear Frances Tye Slides making a 'sticking' sound when you first got them? Wondering if that's typical of leather slides and if it dissipates over time.
Yes I found the same for the first few wears until they were worn in a little. If I had moisturised it was the worst but they are fine now. ❤️
@@EmmaHill awesome, thanks for the reply.

Yes I have found that as you wear them, they do stretch a little because of the type of leather ❤️
3:50 just found super similar shorts on h&m if anyone's interested
Love Love Love. Awesome styles as always.
Love everything you style! Going to recreate some of these looks, shop my closet! Look forward to your videos every week 💕🇨🇦
Love this video! Which specific Weekday tank top that you were paring with the black dress? They have two different tank tops on the website.

Looooovvee the cream dress 💗💗💗
That silk 👗 dress has a great colour and hangs beautifully 👏🏾
Emma, I love that linen dress !!! I'm going to look for it hope it's still available.
The gray silk dress is a good example of Habutai silk.
Another brilliant video ♥️

When I did a spring cleaning of my wardrobe, I got rid of all my heels 😅 I’m all about comfort now
Hey Emma,
I always 💘 your style & outfit combinations. You always look too 😎.
Hey Emma,
I like your style. What size are your Cos and Levi’s shorts? Do the Cos shorts shrink in the dryer? Should I consider sizing up? Thank you.
My Cos shorts are a 36 and my Levis vary between a 30-32 depending on how I want them to fit. I haven't put the shorts in the dryer so I wouldn't know I'm afraid. 👍
I love this white dress with pleated bottom, a fashion masterpiece and Massimo Dutti dark camel blazer, 501s never thats old
Hey :) watching this only now- do you still remember which size you got in the SIR the label dress?
Thanks, Emma.
Brits deserve some warm weather. ☀️ 😎 News reports said Britain has experienced it’s lowest temperatures since the 1600’s. 🥶
I am a dress lover especially for summer and your choices are wonderful.
Nice items Emma! That dress looks super comfy. I would spent the entire summer in that one haha! Here's hoping the weather will change for the better soon.. it's often the same here as in London it seems.. Greetings from the Netherlands!
What size are your cos shorts! I wanted to get them but I'm slightly worried about the size :/
Mine are a 36 👍
You look really lovely in the cream dress Emma and I like your hair longer.xx
Hi Emma,
I was only waiting for your video before going to bed!
I hope you can enjoy some good weather soon! 🏖
Love the ivory dress! So beautiful!
It is meant to be warming up this week but we shall see 🤣🤞
What a lovely collection of stylish and thoughtful pieces Emma ... certainly look great on you!! Can’t wait to see pix on your Insta account when the UK rain ever stops and the temperature gets above freezing 🥶 x
I know right 🙈🤣 Great British summer 🤣
Hey Emma, can i ask what size you are in the COS shorts? Thanks
Mine are a 36 👍
Love the rail (rack). Could you let me know where you sourced the rail from? Many thx, in advance. Continued success!!!
It was from Ebay a few years ago, although Im sure there are probably similar still available 👍
Hi Emma .... what size did you order in the Joseph skirt?
Mine is a 38 👍
Thank you, as always, for sharing! Do you have any go-to retailers for 501's? Any other than Etsy and Ebay?
I normally get mine vintage from Ebay but if you have good thrift stores in your area you could probably pick up some from there 👍
First comment yay! Love ur videos Emma
Your hair is growing so much 😍😍😍 little jealous 😊😅
Do you think it is chic to wear blazer and trench coat toghether or is better to wear them individually?
Yes I think they go well together and especially a good way to layer, so if you like the look I would say go for it 👍
I have a few pair of jeans to cut into shorts. Thanks for the motivation 😁 ✂️
