i think that when i look at you 2 i think of my young patients who are convinced that its over where love is concerned.....its important that you keep showing the world that life goes on whether you are standing or sitting and not everyone in a wheelchair is 80yrs old

Women get heavier the longer they are in a wheelchair.

@@wheelchairgeek People in general get heavier the longer they are in a wheelchair, it's no difference than a couch potato🤦‍♂️

Brittney may love your British words, and she’s got some of hers also that make her more endearing. Such as “bonkers”, and “scooching her butt”.

Interesting topic! I’m going to be really careful discussing this one.
The “more noticeable” of a wheelchair maybe only applies to a wheelchair, not to others with a disability?

its interesting some of the comments you make. I am not a wheel chair user however i am hard of hearing and there is some biases i definitely notice more towards males in general with disabilities than with female biggest one i notice is when i ask someone to repeat themself people tend to be less patient with me than my D/HOH female friends also the most hated word in my vocabulary "nevermind' is used a lot more i find with me than again with my D/HOH female friends. Hope you dont mind the comments. The other i find is the willingness to ask for accommodations when needed and the reaction to that request. I'm curious if you have a similar experience.

I haven’t noticed actually, mainly because I don’t have any real life female friends in wheelchairs for comparison, but I do get asked if I need help when it’s not wanted, I’m fiercely independent and hate being seen as “helpless “

Hey Fred how are you doing? You look so good! I agree that women do have it easier in general. Brittany is spot on with the accent, we loooove British, Aussie and I am going to add my own here since she skipped a couple lol, Irish, Scottish & Welsh. I don't know if she includes those in the British accent but I love them. Since I am an ambulatory wheelchair user I have experience with both situations, I get hit on equally in both instances. Maybe the wheelchair brings more attention to me and breaks the ice more so now that I think about it maybe I get hit on more while I am in my wheelchair.

I agree with her wholeheartedly For several reasons. One thing that comes to mind is that men are generally taken more seriously when acting as an agent and less seriously when acting as an object, while it is inverse for women. Both have it's upsides and downsides. All people need to be taken seriously when acting as an agent and when being acted upon a lot of times in our lives so when you need help with something then you're generally going to be taken less seriously when you're a man.

wouldn't it be easier to be a man who generally would be stronger lifting the ton of stuff u need ??? and not all.women go for height ...my husband is exactly the same height as me

I use a wheelchair and don't really have to lift a lot of heavy stuff. Sometimes I move heavy stuff by pushing on it. Lifted 25.lb toddler until he walked.

@shannonalwaise8398 i assumed getting wheelchairs in and out of cars would be hard but i do work in a hospital where the wheelchairs are a hundred yrs old ..they probably a lot lighter now

@Kenzie_McIntyre I can't remember what exact age he was that weight, maybe I wasn't lifting him at that weight 😅 he is 28

@Kenzie_McIntyre yes those hospital chairs are large and heavy and rarely seen outside a hospital. Chairs for regular users are much lighter and meant to be easy to push. I couldn't get around in a hospital chair.
