The CPU is about 10% slower than the AMD 7940hs APU, which I am tentatively planning on buying, but the GPU blows the 7940hs APU out of the water with 13.5 teraflops versus 5 teraflops.

The NUC series BARELY qualifies as a mini PC.
That thing is probably more powerful than a lot of people's gaming rigs. Granted, the price point justifies that power.

Bought one of these for $850 to replace my aging desktop. I wanted a Mini form factor to free up desk space. I was going to build a Mini ITX system but really didn't feel like dealing with the headache of putting that all together. Not to mention you'll spend more on a Mini ITX build when factoring in adding a graphics card.
How loud is it? Is it quieter than gaming laptop?
Great video but for me im going to stick with my desktop for newer consoles and use my pie for older games but if I need a 2nd one I might buy one
How does Cyberpunk 2077 run on this? That seems to be a demanding game if you want high settings.
You can play Cyberpunk. In benchmark with full HD and Raytracing Ultra. 40 FPS.
Intel is permanently optimizing drivers for ARC also for Direct X 11 games.

It's pretty neat but we (fiancee and I) got our Xbox Series X and PS5 at launch...we're fairly content with them. Especially since some truly incredible games have started to land on them. I mean, without our PS5 I would not be completely blown away by Final Fantasy XVI right now. It really is the best Final Fantasy game that has ever released on these shores. Further, we have many, many options for retro gaming including most of the original hardware. Aahh but you never know.
once I see a mini pc that can play 6 generation consoles for under 100 bucks then it will explode the retro community as regards affordable retro gaming.

Where is the Arc game specific driver? It doesnt seem to exist. Did you just download a wrong driver in the first place and installing the right one fixed it?

Actually, stunning baby in a small factor with amazing power! I got mine yesterday and did not set it up fully because the system somehow failed to detect either wifi or ethernet function. How did you fix this problem, may I ask?
Anyone else order one of these? I ordered the day this video was uploaded and it still hasn't shipped. Emailed the company and the response was that it was out of stock until 15 August but the site has never reflected that and still shows up as available. Just wondering if anyone else has a similar experience or if they actually received one. Thanks!
It may be mini in size but certainly not mini in price.
My problem with this is that Arc simply isn't mature enough. So for that reason, think I'll stick with my Trident which I never actually use.
Which driver ist the right one for ARC in NUC?
I have used NUC's since their inception. I have had problems with Intel after Gen 8 and it won't run myt old Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 drawing programm. It is something that happened to the way Intel changed it's system. I have used PP10 for over a decade and as much as Corel says it is the best replacement for it, Corel is nothing like it. I can get it to install and run, but when I try to load apicture, it crashes out of the program, back to Windows. Compatatiblity chck runs fine. Saying Windows 10 is the perfect replacement for Windows 7 is about as close as Corel being the replacement for PP10. Everything is different. I am having good l;uck with my Ryzen machines and that's why I'm blaming Intel generations past gen 8.
Time to move on. You're fighting an uphill battle.

$1,200 for a mini PC as a console emulator is a bit much but as a desktop with a GPU and 16GB VRAM, you have to get an RTX 4080 if you want that. Many console ports coming from PS5 are wanting more VRAM than anything. A slightly slower GPU w/ 16GB will beat out a faster 8GB GPU. Case in point, take away DLSS and RT, my 3070 Ti beats out a 6700 XT easily except in the latest ports of Last of Us, Hogwart's Legacy, the latest Jedi, etc. Its not the devs fault. These games were designer for the newer consoles that have more than 8GB of VRAM available.

For the price of that PC its not bad. Specs wise some lite pc gaming and a decent bit of emulation, maybe not much past GameCube. There are more powerful Mini PCs that go on sale for just a bit more than that one, but it's hard for me to make a recommendation without knowing what you want to use it for or hope to play on it.

Will not replace my desktop since it runs Windows. I may get one of those Linux based ones as an low cost media box that can do more then my older version Apple TV box can.
I wonder if this can work with an eGPU? That would help future-proof it a little

i just want to say that the Arc A770M has 16GB, BUT it behaves like 6GB. i don't really "see" that power of 16GB GPU.
i believe that Intel needs to make better drivers for that GPU.

As much as I understand the appeal of so much power in such a small form factor, the illuminated skull or snake on the side panel make it look like it is designed for cool edgy kids. Not my cup of tea, to be honest.
Also, I very much doubt that this will replace my desktop PC, which has a 4070 Ti installed. It's probably great for 1080p gaming and emulation, but it will not run every game out there at 1440p ultra settings at 120+ fps, which my PC is actually capable of.
