    You are actually very brilliant. I have watched many of these videos (as I update my kitchen), and I have never seen anyone create their own appliance labels!! Also, I love that you painted around the window of the oven door. All in all, this is rated A+ in my book - excellent, excellent job (I know the video is 7 years old, but it is worth watching!!).

    Young man,you need to MAKE THOSE LABELS and sell them! So many people want them for dish washers and ice makers on fridges. They put all the effort and time into painting the appliance but the control panel is an eye sore! A lot of people are not great with that technical stuff. Like me!

    for some reason , I cant reply to SOME comments.. I'll try to answer questions tho
    1. the stickers are from kinkos (fedex office). they only print tho, you have to create the picture yourself
    2. the door is all glass, just painted white (now black) I did scuff it,dnt know if it really did anything tho ( because its glass) I have no scratches on glass paint.
    3. I've done a lot of painting from homes to cars, I never use "primer paint" on anything.. that to me is a gimmick (i wont get into it tho)

  • @joedebosco3047

    What the person applying this paint coating does not realize is the front door and bottom drawer is porcelain coated. This means any paint applied will not bond either chemically or mechanically. Granted they are using "high temp" paint, but even this will not permanently bond to porcelain. The bottom line is the surface will scratch easily. Oh well, to each his own.

    About painting the front glass - Did you have any issues or did the paint come out smooth? Did you just use a clearer on the glass or did you prep it any way

    That's really cool - the decals did the trick! I had no idea you could get something like that printed. How have they held up so far? I may have to try getting a few decals for other projects printed that way.

    • @HipstrDrinkstar
      @HipstrDrinkstar  10 років тому +1

      ya the decals are still holding up, spilled spaghetti sauce and all on it and cleaned up fine.. the idea came from "decaling" arcade sticks for playstation n such, there are vids on how to do it.. and i thought that could be used for so many other things

    i forgot to sand paper the stove is there a way to avoid the paint from coming off? it looks like it can come off with the first layer, is that a important step when doing this project? before i attempt to adding another coat should i sand it down?

    • @shaffydaffy3050
      @shaffydaffy3050 2 роки тому +1

      It is indeed quite important to sand, when painting ANYTHING, especially if the surface is so smooth. It's harder for the paint to bond

    Great job! I can see that the handle on the oven appears plastic but was the oven door metal or was it glass painted white? Also, did you sand the plastic handle to the oven before painting or just prime the plastic? And the oven door (if glass) did you rough that up or prime it also. Thanks so much.

    AMAZING JOB!!!! I've been wanting to go stainless steel with one of the stainless paints, but everyone had the white display and I thought it looked terrible. What a great idea to create your own! OK I know you created the label yourself and took it to kinko's, but what program did you use to make it? I can't even think of how to start creating the buttons. Thanks in advance for any help!

    • @HipstrDrinkstar
      @HipstrDrinkstar  10 років тому +8

      I got a picture of the part from a "parts website. .
      Measure the actual stove/appliance
      input that measurement into photoshop, (as the "work area" size)
      enlarge the pic to the work area size (this will give u your "template" )
      the rest is art : )
      maybe I'll make s vid on how to make custom labels. . As there seems to be much interest in it

      its holding up, few scratches on oven handle (thats to be expected) can touch up with a black sharpie, or a quick spray over. Yes, the paint seems to be heat resistant, no melting or peeling.
