Here's the Springtrapped re-dub, like I promised!
My apologies for the delay. I have a pretty big project in the works, and some of the original Springtrapped files went missing, so i've been juggling a lot of things to finish the redub while preparing for this other project, (which i hope to officially announce soon, so stay tuned)
In the meantime, I want to thank the voice actors who kindly volunteered to help me re-dub voices for Springtrapped, This version of the short wouldn't have been possible without them, and I really appreciate their willingness to help me out.

I said this of the original and I will say this of the re-dub, this is a thing of beauty. Made not just with talent, but a clear love and passion for scooby and fnaf as well as the old school stop motion style of rankin-bass. And the fact the creator went out of their way to re-dub this with actual VAs when they didn’t have to is amazing and shows how much they loved this. I hope I someday get to see a movie in theaters done by Eagan.
@@SmartCreeperThe only reason he used ai was because he couldn't pay off va's. He now got the publicity and reach to find people to voice it like he said he would have liked in the first place. This is less bending the knee and more the original vision. AI is 9/10 times a "I didn't have the resources" thing.

What backlash?
There was no real backlash other than a couple loud whiners on Twitter. The majority were okay with it and understood why he used AI voices.

I enjoy Scooby Doo and this is great, never saw any problems.

I am so happy you kept the original feel of Scooby Doo and didn't go for the kinda overdone, "oh hey, here's a kids show but it's horrifying." You did such a good job and though I didn't mind the AI you did a wonderful job with the voices.
Yeah, I'm not tired of that kids' horror style yet and even expected it here, but this certainly fits way better.
This project is such a remarkable achievement! The way you captured the style of both Rankin Bass stop motion and Hanna-Barbera original Scooby Doo is SO impressive, but I can also feel your own personal touch to this project. It's a work of love and it shows in every frame. Amazing!
This animation feels like Rankin Bass created an unreleased _Scooby Doo, Where Are You?_ special that everyone never knew it existed.
Plus, I hope that you get recovered from all the backlash you confronted. AI or not, this animation is gorgeous.

I respect Eagen redubbing this video and learning from his mistakes, but I don't respect either of these replies thinking growing and changing as a person after realizing the use of AI voices is indeed harmful is "bending the knee".

Using AI in this way is absolutely harmful, in fact using it for indie animation is some of the most harmful you can be with it outside of the industry.
He absolutely was right to do this video, anyone defending the original is just standing with him ignorantly while going against Eegen's own current beliefs.

Like everyone else is saying, your effort to redub this is impressive and while the concern over AI voice acting is understandable in an industry level, the backlash you got for using it on a short indie passion project was just ridiculous.

I agree about the harassment part, which was sadly expected seeing the success of the first video.
Imo the problem is that many people do not seem to understand that both following ideas can coexist :
- using AI voices is always morally wrong in the current state of things and definitely deserves criticism (ik he's a small indie animator but still)
- this does not mean death threats and massive harassment are fine
Edit : in a world where AI is trained ethically (using the work of consenting artists and paying them for that) it would already be less of a problem to use AI voices, especially for people with no budget or who do not aim to monetize their creation. But we do not live in this world, and AIs are built on art theft

I don't blame you or hold any contempt towards you for doing so originally, I completely understand the reasoning for why you did. Not gonna lie, I thought he was going to delete the OG Version and start from scratch all over again when I slowly found out that he'll do a New and Improved Version, but thankfully he decided to Upload a New & Improved Version and keep the OG Version!
I said this originally but it needs to be repeated because of how good a job you did the vibes on this is the exact same as on Scooby Doo and the animation is perfect this is genuinely amazing
Glad to see that you’ve not given up after the inordinate amount of backlash the original version got you, frankly, it did infinitely more harm to my opinions towards a certain voice actress that I previously respected than what you had done could have possibly done.
Just be glad Eagan didn’t do something bitter such as him starting a vengeful harassment against Grey Griffin. He was smart, mature, and hopefully this feud can end in peace. In the end, no matter what happens, Like Springtrap, Eag always comes back.
I totally agree. Unfortunately, she's been pulling stunts like this for years. She used to argue with children on tumblr back in the day. After I found out, I could never look at her the same way again - or maybe more accurately hear her, haha.

I honestly feel that Grey DeLisle owes the creator of this project an immense apology. Reaching out and requesting the removal of an AI voice impersonation is completely fair. That is her craft, and her concerns about it being replicated over the web for free are 100% founded. But the vicious and vindictive way she went about it was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. This is a small, amateur creator, almost *half* DeLisle's age. They didn't know any better. A woman who has been in the industry for as long as she has should have been far more acquainted with more tasteful and rational means of dealing with these kinds of situations.
... And that's not even getting into how she tried to somehow frame it as sexual assault.

I personally don't think AI for small projects like this is wrong, but it's really impressive to see the amount of work you're willing to do. You honestly didn't deserve the backlash you received for your original video. I personally think it's a bunch of big babies making a fuss over something for attention.
Edit: honestly I only think the use of AI is wrong when you're using it to replace an actual actor in a high budget film or TV show when the normal voice actor could have been available. I also don't think people should be able to monetize a celebrity or voice actor's voice without permission

Yes they are. But the voice actors on the other hand (Except for the security guard and Shaggy) horrendously failed to actually sound like the characters they were supposed to be voicing.

The lipsync was a little off in some scenes, But the voices are still awesome!
This is absolutely fantastic and the most faithful adaptation of the original show that I've ever seen. I re-watch the shows on a regular basis, and your attention to detail is so meticulous that you can even tell which season this was inspired by. Also major respect for having the class to re-dub this

The character reaction animations and the chase scene with the disguises and the hiding under the table switcharoo- it was just like the classic show.

the va's did an amazing job, and the animation really feels from the time period, love to see it, i don't really get the backlash from the ai, but the new va's feel very authentic, so thats really good

I love everything about this animation, it's so well done and faithful to the original Scooby Doo, the way everything plays out is 1 to 1 with actual episodes from the series. Glad this was redone with actual voice actors, it delivers a complete masterpiece.

I really like everyone’s performances here, but for some reason the voice used for the original for the Night guard just sounds right to me.
It sounded exactly like how a random side character in scooby doo would, I think it was an AI of one of the old actors

Ay, say what you will about the original having AI voices. While AI voices aren't good, Eagan's heart was in the right place when making the video. And it's nice to see he can get some authentic VAs and not have to resort to voice cloning. I look forward to seeing what he does next.
This re-dub is great, and Joey's Fred voice is so near spot-on to Frank Welker's, it's impressive! And it should go without saying, but the backlash you got for using AI was completely unwarranted. You used it for what it was intended for: Non-profit inde projects like this, as opposed to big greedy corporations who use it just to make a quick buck.
I really enjoyed this short, as it's very true to the classic Scooby Doo source material, and I can't help but wonder what you'll be cooking up next.

This is much better with actual people voicing it. The timing, audio quality, an choreography is so similar to the show from my childhood, its insane
Some of the new voices don't match the audio quality so it's very jarring.
Feels like a good time to re-release, since this videos always made me nostalgic for the old ass Christmas stop-motion films.

I didn't even remember the talk about the AI voices anymore, I was too focused on the main animation work which was superb.
Now with the dub, it's still great! All voices fit well and they all did a good job!

Hate to nitpick, but listening closely, the filter on the redubbed voices doesn't quite match the one for Shaggy's voice, which is what gave the original that 1960s effect. I'm not sure if it has to do with the microphone setups they were using or something, but it made the sound design a bit inconsistent.
AI voices or voice acting- which one doesn’t matter cause your work is already a masterpiece! It looks incredible and I thought both videos were great! ^^

Good to see that you got what you wanted, I remembered reading that you were catching flak a few months ago, and thinking that it was so silly they were cracking on an indie using it. Instead of getting mad at full studios getting to use it non-stop these days. Anyways really interesting thought. Cant wait to see more.

I think you should keep the original on your channel up because it’s great seeing the differences between them and both have strong advantages with the voice decision (the first video they sound just like the original actors and they have the audio effect on that sounds more scratchy so it feels more retro, however this one the lines have more emotion behind them and there’s more in the moment reactions).
I think the biggest standout to me of the new voices is surprisingly the security guard. He sounded fine in the original but here I like that he has a bigger shock about William afton and he felt more real here.
regardless I love these two videos and I would really love you to do something like this with maybe say: the grinch? Like take the original animated version or even the book and maybe make this amazing claymation style animation with that timeless story and bring a bit of that retro feel to it. I say give it a go with your own voice for the characters and if you’re not happy you could put the call out like this reupload did for voice actors to help I’m sure there’s plenty of people who would be very happy to ❤️ keep up the incredible work

Personally, I love both versions that were made. The original’s AI voices made it sound much more like the classic cartoon, while the redub adds another layer of charm to this already fantastic video! Well done on this, regardless of the backlash! This is incredible looking, and you should feel loads of pride for how amazing it turned out!
Why was the security guard revoiced? Was that actually one of the voices they complained about? If so, that's even more ludicrous than the other VAs complaining.
Nothing can wash away the memories of the backlash that you got for an innocent A.I. video.
