- Iranian state media say President Ebrahim Raisi, the country’s foreign minister and several others have been found dead at the site of a helicopter crash.
Teams searched for hours in bad weather, and the wreckage was eventually found in the mountains in Iran's East Azerbaijan region. Officials say the aircraft crashed into a mountain peak.

For those that don't know, raisi was at one point the head of the unit in charge of the morality police who beat women in the street for not wearing a head scarf.
he also ordered execution of people who fought the Iranian war in 1979...., back in 1988.... it was all "politically motivated" to execute the political prisoners as he was afraid someone would lead the opposition against him. effectively sending thousands to their demise only for him to hold onto power as he was afraid one would rise against him

Just for the record: the real people in power are still alive and pulling the strings. Their spiritual leader as well the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. This doesnt mean its not a challenge for them, the current situation was quite intense anyway and this does add to the domestic instability.
