Canning Town, East London to Lewisham 1981, autumn, through Rotherhithe Tunnel. Me, a young boy of 4 going on 5. Dad driving, this tune playing. Memories.
I do that same journey a lot and I can just imagine it with this pumping out the speakers. Lloyd Parks is my fave Reggae bass player, just check out these bass licks..
Oh boy this tune has my fave reggae bass player Lloyd Parks. Also listen to the interaction between drums and bass. Totally wicked. Like me you remember places and journeys via music. This is a lovers rock classic.
@@gregdee9085 this isn't ska fella lovers rock is a completely English thing that came out of south London in the late 70s early 80s all regga comes from Jamaica but lover's didn't.
My sister was beaten up and was in a coma for a couple of weeks - this happened a couple of years ago. I kept playing this record - it comforted me somehow. She eventually recovered and although has other health problems - she's a survivor!
That's good to hear, this song remine me of david rodigan, show on the radio, befor , meeting up with friends, going out raving night's in s' London , that was the , good old days " )

I come back to this video every so often and I'm always amazed by the beauty of this song ....the singing, the bass, the drums, the horn, the guitar. A true master piece, a work of art.
This is a beautiful song. Unfortunately, I was going through a sad time. It's funny, when you hear certain tunes, it's like looking at a video in my memory bank that's been locked away for years. 😬
@@JuiceSkyy my dear mum - I was 16 and my sis 15. We went QBs every Sunday - ended about 11pm. Our brother (9 years older than me) drove us to All Nations every so often on a Saturday - 3 floors, brilliant music & no problems x

My word😲 The last time I heard this tune was nearly 40 years ago! Bwoy did it take me back!! I didn't even recognise the title. The only reason why I played it was because noticed the Hawkeye label and it immediately reminded me of another lovers rock classic I had, Key To The World by Rudy Thomas. Thanks for uploading Len, big respect👍🏾👊🏾👊🏾k
Yes it took me back too. Feel quite emotional hearing it after so many, many years. It reminds me of my 1st dances with boys and the nervousness. 😮 However if it was released in 1981 I would have already been in my long term relationship with my daughter's father who I started dating at sweet 16. 💏😁🧡
The bass draw nice, no complaints there. Smooth, consistent and more importantly spacious, giving the tune room to breathe. Big respect tu-di-bassman👍🏾👌🏾

The lovers rock era was a pivotal moment in British music history sadly ignored this is one of the signature tunes of that time just great.
This is a giant tune of that era. Lloyd Parks bass line. Oh god, and that wicked drumming.
Well it started in Jamaica...but there r many ppl who think ska started in England.
