I saw one this morning crossing the road while I was slowly driving on a rugged wooded mountain road that had a ravine type setting. I stopped my vehicle where I saw it cross but no sign of it. I never saw one and the shape was quite odd. I described the shape, size, tail and trot to a friend and then researched it. My sighting was in Forest Lake Township, Susquehanna County, N.E. PA.
I saw one in SGL 45 in Venango county last weekend. It looked kind of like a huge mink on steroids. Really impressive.
I have sighted one in Tionesta PA in the past year or two. He was checking on some fresh roadkill late at night and I almost swerved off the road to avoid him lol.
They are definitely in Northwest PA, the map you've shown has it not in this area? Have they expanded faster than the map can be updated by hundreds of miles? Thanks. Ok, I see in a later map it's just listed as "not stable"... thanks again. I guess I won't be having free-ranging chickens much longer.
So you don't have fox, weasels, cats, dogs, etc, etc.....
@@KadiddlehopperClem Cats and dogs don't go after my chickens. Fox and weasels come at night when they are safe in their coops. Any other questions?
I just captured one on my trail cam......I didn’t know what it was......
I saw a fisher climbing from a tree in Allegheny National Forest ! I think it was a male because it was pretty big !
Fascinating webinar. I am happy to see the return of this animal from near or total extirpation.
Some of the slides seem to be out of sync with Matt's presentation, but it could be my piece of crap computer.
I have pictures of fishers on my trail cam. Very large has to be a male. Damascus PA
A few years ago, I saw one in Columbia county Pa.... really a neat looking animal. I watched as my 5lbs cat stalked it from behind. I couldn't help but laugh, it was twice her size! Eventually she gave up on the idea.
I live in Upper Saucon township, Lehigh County. A few days ago - around 5:30am, just a bit of light, saw two in my front yard. Looked like cats until looking closer. Knew what it was because friend in my neighborhood had seen one about 5 years ago & I looked it up at that point. Coyotes also here. Why do we need this?
Mange seems to be more prevalent in animals denning in the ground. As far as ticks go, they are worse in areas with alot of mice chipmunks n squirrels. A main part of fischers diet.
They are in the Delaware Water Gap.
Beaver County Pa they wiped out my chickens a few years ago. Drank the blood of one of them and ripped it apart. Then the other chickens died from fright. It came back the next day looking for more food. But, I had buried them. Runs like an inch worm. Had never seen one before.
are they a leftover ice age species? since they arent in the south except higher altitudes
I found one in my backyard in SouthEastern PA, I tried to find a link to send to report a sighting on PA game commission site, but didn't find one. I'm guessing the population is WAY higher now 6 years later and no need to report... now only if PA would introduce wild boar..lol...
Where at in South eastern pa.what county??
Got them in hawley
You didn't look at them getting out of control before you released them I had one on my game camera 10 years ago. Now I'm having a fight under my window. I live in harmony pa . I really didn't need a fisher population. I assume they were fighting each other.
In Crawford county.
Just saw one two weeks ago in Mercer county Pennsylvania
Why does the pa gaming commission have the same technology as a high school power point project that nobody wanted to do
fisher x2 lockwood ny killered my geese and ducks coming right up to my back porch
As you reintroduced Fishers, it's clear you had no idea how many turkeys they would kill.
its part of nature. they will exhaust a local population and move on, hawks do the same thing with squirrels and rabbits
Who's he kidding they know their are panthers in pa woods
Why is there a trapping season? Weren't they almost extinct???
Umm. Let me think. The fur??
The #s of Fischer has increased since 2010 when trapping began. It's an effective tool to study them and keep track of numbers.
Jen from SW Ontario....3 barns and chickens mom thought a brear
this boy was = too bernesie dog
They are killing machines! Not good if you have chickens or turkeys! They need to be eradicated! Thank you Pennsylvania game commission!
