I got to say this is a technical and artistic masterpiece for the 2600. But I think the overhead 2D nature of the action prevented this game from being more widely known. It really plays to the 2600's strengths, but that just wasn't what players were excited about at the time.
Huh, I don't remember the Death Star sounding like a fax machine... Also can we play the Death Star's destruction back again? I think I heard the voice of Satan in there.
I remember playing this as a kid and letting the the death star get built, if I remember correctly it would shoot at you with it's planet destroying laser.
@@G18999 Yes, the green laser shoots at you in both phases, but if the Death Star gets completely assembled, your planet gets destroyed and the game ends, no matter how many lives you have left.
Lol you are struggling there. Just bait the laser to the side, then hurry to the center and attack vertically. When the laser is on you, move away and repeat.
Death Star: [almost entirely chipped away by player]
Emperor: “Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battle station.”
I have always loved these sound effects.
Played this day and night back in the days
It's so simple, and yet it's so appealing. The sounds, the darkness of it, the Sci-fi aspect. Star Wars! Better than anything today.

Ironically all i remembered about this game was its earwig sound effects. They remained stuck in my head 30 years ocationally resurfacing at random.

Thanks for the video. I've taken the sounds from it for a remake I'm doing. I will post a video about it when I'm done.
