I’m currently reading a book “au bonheur des dames” /ladies paradise - about 1800 Paris classes and consumerism, one of the main character is a poor girl from the province, that’s given the advice to “take a lover” that supports her with money so she can support her younger brothers and not have to work through the night to be barely able to live
Every other girl has a lover (or more) as they don’t make enough money to support themselves

Daddy issues, my love! Daddy issues could be a factor!!!
I used to think it was a stupid excuse, but a friend of mine who never lived with her biological parents, but grew up in the home of relatives, always feeling neglected and struggling with serious esteem issues. She mostly never crushes on young guys. But falls head over heels, and dates men in their 50s and 60s.
I and other friends have teased and harassed her for this till it clicked one day💡- daddy issues!
I confronted her, but she claims(till today) that it's just her nature.
But I perceive very strongly that she's this way because she didn't have a loving father presence while growing up.

This is so true!!! Women have been forced to get with older men for financial reasons literally FOREVER through history, even as old as ancient china and Greece. Women couldn’t even own a bank account until the 70s lol. This does NOT justify it obviously, it’s better that women can more often CHOOSE to partake in these relationships if they want to, but it’s still very weird and predatory.

While it happened extreme age gaps were never actually common. It was usually reserved for moments of extreme financial duress such as a father dying or being injured and not having the funds to feed another mouth. Census records in the 1500s in Europe show the average age of marriage for women was in their mid-20s. Not exactly the young teenagers old novels have you believe was the norm.

Ok let’s keep it a buck, having a sugar mummy or daddy is basically modern day prostitution. The Aioki situation surprised me because this was a girl who was juggling modelling, and Harvard premed, even though she was younger than me i was inspired by her worth ethic and resilience. She’s someone who comes from wealth so i don’t know what possessed her to go for a man who has grandchildren older than her

    • @Brae2723
      @Brae2723 2 місяці тому +3

It’s really not. It’s a relationship with the man being the breadwinner who just so happen to be older. This isn’t something new at all. It’s no different than a marriage where the woman is a stay at home wife and the husband brings in the money. Prostitutes most of the time don’t focus on just one person but whoever wants their services. People bring up the topic that age don’t matter once you’re an adult but when you see someone younger with someone older it’s an issue. Both are consenting adults in such a relationship and not all SD SB relationships is 100% sexual. What she’s doing isn’t illegal do there’s really no problem in it. It’s just not socially acceptable for many.

I do believe that age matters. Especially when age gaps are in play. Like, if your argument for dating is „oh, yeah, but it’s legal“, then that’s not really the flex some people think it is. In some countries it’s legal to marry 11 y.o. That doesn’t make it right. These laws are often just arbitrary numbers and often enough way too low when it comes to age of consent or being an adult

The glamorization of this is what’s scary. As a teenager i used to think hypergamous relationships were aspirational but was met with harsh reality. If a man can take a woman who loves him for granted imagine him seeing u as a bill, no different than objects he uses. Also as the “sb” it’ll warp ur mind seeing everything as transactional, it’ll ruin genuine connections. I grew out of this materialistic thinking with age, u just realize what’s important and these troubled girls and pathetic old men just look like fools to u 🤷‍♀️ also young boys are being groomed to think this is cool and fulfilling but these old playboys are just as unfulfilled. One thing about “sugar babying” that does annoy me is how many sugar babies try to draw hard lines in the sand between themselves and prostitution or other forms of sex work. If you strip, you are a sex worker, if you create nude or pornographic content on onlyfans, you are a sex worker, if you are an escort you are a sex worker. NO shame in the game. It just seems like sugar babies have this idea that they’re somehow better than or different from prostitutes as a way to cope with engaging in this lifestyle for survival. Even the most well-paid sugar babies aren’t doing it for fun… deep down they fear going back to a life that they can’t support if they stop doing this work. If we started using “sex work” to describe what sugar baby dynamics are we would be giving women a much more realistic portrayal of what the lifestyle is off of Instagram. Basically a long-winded answer to your question is no because sugar dating is *inherently transactional* and not a “relationship”

It might seem like sunshine and rainbows to not have to work a traditional job and have someone else take care of you financially, BUT that also means you’re surrendering your financial stability to someone else.
Most people don’t show the sugar baby lifestyle off responsibly, it’s usually “glitz and glam”. SAVE and invest extra money if you’re getting it. Don’t waste it all on “stuff”. If you’re going to be a sugar baby, be smart and plan for the FUTURE.

I really loved that you talked about this. I too fell for the Sugar Baby aesthetic. I didn't realize how much time and effort I had put in to trying become one, not to mention the psychological impact. I thought it would be a quick way of getting some money fast. I ended up exposing myself to a world full of disceptions, disingenuiness and also lost some of my innocence. I didn't like that my perception of romantic relationships changed to one of being transaction and not whether I truly liked and cared about the person.I couldn't tell anyone about it cause I was low/high ashamed of what I was doing. But the perception of getting some money made me stay in it longer than I should have. It also impacted my relationship with God. I stopped praying and only thought of how I could get the guy to give me more money. But by God's grace, he changed my way of thinking and got me out. Its a slipeery slop to be in and i wouldn't recommend any girl or guy to enter into a transactional love/engagement. And for any believers out there, don't do it. I know life can be hard sometimes but we have a father in heaven who will get us through it. Wait on the Lord. God bless! ☺️

While I'm also not fond of relationships with huge age gaps, I'm capable to tolerate them as long there is actual love and it has 2 adult people involved and not with someone who is not even in their 20s. However what I don't stand is ageist hypocrisy especially when there is middle aged couple with woman being little bit older and suddenly it is seen as mother and son relationship. Gonna give example from The Walking Dead fanbase, Carol and Daryl Dixon, characters who are wildly shipped and are canonically in their 50s on show with actors Norman Reedus being 55 and Melissa McBride being 58, soon to be 59 in May, so just 4 year age gap in real life and there are people who refer them as mother and son because Melissa is older and has gray hair... but it is ok to ship Daryl, guy in his 50s with Beth and while her actress Emily Kinney was 25+ so legally adult, Beth was canonically between age 16-18 before she died on show and yet somehow this is ok and not seen as father and daughter relationship. It is both shocking and hypocritical to me how in our society such relationships with man being in his 50s with younger and virginal woman who is not even in her 20s is ok but when there is relationship of 2 middle aged people with naturally beautiful woman being just little bit older and with gray hair, it is seen as mother and son. And also in real life for example Keanu Reeves and his partner Alexandra who is bit older than Keanu and has gray hair, tabloid media and society refered her as mother to him when you can tell these 2 are equal to one another.

As someone who went on dates with older men for financial support it was hard to go back on dates with people my age because at least with older men the terms of the relationship are already set and in a way that protects my feelings, I also feel like I don’t have to impress them and can talk about anything without judgement bc there are just there to enjoy the company and conversations as a way to wind down from their work/family lives. What's sick about this Serafina connection is that Serafina through the mid 90s and early 00s was VERY popular in NYC. Their restaurant is right around the corner from Bad Boy, and it was a hot spot for many in the Hip Hop world to been seen, and for everyone to go and be seen in general.
It was COMMON to see Diddy there, Simmons there, and all the other names back in the day. I've dined there, the food was good.
Anyways, this is to say that I can imagine that Simmons brought his wife and kids there at some point, so who knows if this guy could have even met her as a kid. And that to me turns my stomach when I think about this whole situation even more.

At first she made it seem like it was good because he took care of her and bought her things. Now she’s pregnant and is seeing that the honeymoon phase is over and now she has to deal with his financial problems he has kids older than her that don’t like her and has to deal with the ex wife and now they are bringing a baby into this drama. I think age gap relationships and the whole sugar baby situation should be short term and you never settle down with your trick. Once they save you the excitement is over and they’re out looking for the next damsel in distress to save. I wish my cousin just got out of the SW life and went back home to her mother because she didn’t need to sell her body for money she just didn’t want to live at home because she was abused in her household by her mother’s old boyfriends

Girlll, as a sugar baby, I can definitely confirm it’s not all Cartier and vacation in Milan. Heck, I never came crossed someone as rich as this….but then again, someone as rich as this would probably want a beautiful gorgeous woman a la Anok, Zendaya or Iman. Not as plain and dumb as me.

Nothing wrong with aging. We're gonna age too if we remain al1ve but yes, I have a HUGE issue with old people preying on the young.
ETA: I get that sugar babies have the right to make the choices they wanna make, but the older people with money have all the power in the relationship and they're taking advantage of that.
Before I met my partner I was 24 and on dating apps. Most people my age weren't interested in me for a romantic relationship, presumably bcs I'm fat, autistic and have a hard time keeping myself from info dumping on people.
I went on three dates and the 3 of them said they would rather have me as a friend. At least they were nice about it.
But I got a fvck ton of messages from older men every single day. Some of them were super cringe, they kept on saying I looked like a teenager which is very concerning on its own. And they were very obviously lying about their real ages. Some looked old enough to be my grandfathers and they were claiming to be 35. Yeah, right...
One of them was kind of ev1l, he sent a long AF message, and among other things he said he had daughters around my age and that I looked like them so "that would make it safe to go out in public". The audacity and shamelessness of that man. Gross.

I was 26 when I married my 45 year old husband (we met when i was 23). We never intended on loving each other, but after a while we finally confessed to it. We were both skeptical about the age difference but we both realised life's too short to not be with the person you love.
Me and him make around the same amount of money, so it's not a sugar daddy relationship whatsoever. He also is quite naturally young looking, when my friends first met him (he was 45) they thought he was no older than 30-35. It's actually just great genes, which our sons have inherited aswell😅
Now i'm 34, he's 53. He's still young looking and barely anyone notices in public 😭 We have two sons, a seven year old and a two year old. My seven year old looks exactly like his father, and I don't regret marrying my husband with a big age gap, at all.

It's good to hear about ur experience... But I always have genuine question or doubts ... I'm currently 23 yr old and I'm from a culture where we are taught from young age to view people who are even only decade older than us as a elder respected person who cannot be dated , so it's kind of shock me to core about age gaps ... I know not all old men are bad but I always had a question, why old men will go after younger women only rather then women of their own age group... Like even if a older men wants a genuine relationship but why a woman decades younger than him... Its always some how point towards the society mindset than old or young men will want always younger women bcz older women who are even of their same age are like undesirable to them... This actually creates a narrative that women especially after 40s are not even seen desirable bcz older men fetish younger women bodies... But I have seen many older women in their 40s are not going after young men in their 20s , they are always finding someone of their age ... How much we try to romanticize these things but we know the reality... I know sometimes love happens without warning or without any control but I'm talking about the the common occurrence in which older men are always going after younger women, like someone who can be of their daughter's age ...

@@anime2315 I totally understand that aspect causing doubts, and I think the idea of older people going for people specifically decades younger is a little unsettling. For my situation, my husband never particularly went for younger women, and even once realising he had feelings for me he was very hesitant to act on them. I also, was always against the idea of dating older men, as I felt like the mental differences would be very out of place. However, everything just clicked between us and it was what it was. Age was never something which determined our love, it was more a setback than anything else because he won't be around for our sons as long as I will, and then there was problems for infertility a few years ago, and even now I have issues with his and my family around the subject.
He even dated older women in his 20's, like women in their late 30's. So his choice on dating younger doesn't concern me.
I understand why people are confused though, so thanks for asking instead of judging 😊

I'd say sugaring is so much better than dating someone who isn't very attractive, no talent in bed, and won't give you anything anyway. With an SD, at least you get some cash from the wasted effort. But the real deal is to be independent, be happy with friends, family and oneself, and stop seeing men as saviors. Go get cash, but be wary and be safe.

38:59 what an interesting point because people who tend to have this viewpoint on sugar dating say the same thing.
But as a younger dude we process this as betrayal. It’s PROVEN past generations we’re more successful because they had their peer-aged women’s support.
I feel that sugar baby/mommy/daddy relationships are cheating (on your peers) and I love the highlight on “things I want now” because trust me, she will get the things she wants now but later it will have the opposite effect.
Those who waited for the younger men to mature will see their stability and finances improve while she will struggle to attract and maintain relationships with these younger men.

As a religious person, i find pre-marital sex to be immoral, however, if you're going to do it, you may as well get something out of it. That's why i think the sugar babies are smarter than any girl giving sex for free. Like at least make him pay for dinner first!

Same here, lol! All forms of fornication are sin. So sex work is sin, but having sex with someone who you aren't married to for romantic love, fun, or pleasure is also sin. At least the SWs are getting paid (not saying that them fornicating is right, but at least they are being smarter about it).
