    Everyday, another UK company collapses because of a lie.
    The EU is our main market.
    All other markets require huge costs to trade with.
    It’s not rocket science, it’s business.
    The UK economy has not recovered at all, since the pandemic, yet all other G7 countries have nearly returned to normal business.

      169 countries in the world are NOT IN THE EU WITH NO INTENTION OF REPLICATING IT..
      I live in queensland Australia, i can buy uk made frozen pizzas here, and australia imports cauliflower from CHINA for in flight meals because its cheaper.
      Distance is irrelevant today.
      Used to buy good cheap nz lamb in the 70s in the UK.
      As soon as the uk joined the eec, no more UK apples, just offloaded french ones into UK shops.

      @@jonathansimmons5353 sadly, distance goods travel is becoming more expensive, especially considering carbon footprint.
      The UK is part of Europe geographically. Freight costs have more than doubled for us now.
      As for receiving goods from afar, it’ll always be a no brainier.

      @jonathan simmons New Zealand will now make nearly 1000% more than the UK over this deal. Apparently the UK should regress to times before we made as much.
      The UK can make only £7 per person in 38 years.

      @@jonathansimmons5353 Brits understandably want a full time job, not seasonal where they lose all their benefits once the harvest is over. Unemployed also not in areas where the jobs are, quite apart from the fact that there are currently more vacancies in the UK than unemployed - this is not about money paid as picking is not the poorly paid job it was 30 years ago!

    And the drone videos.... I guess you gave the director a list of things to film that included "seasonal workers" but what you got is "exciting roller-coaster swoops and dives over a landscape that includes some little people".

    What is he talking about the tensions arising from the NI protocol when it has nothing to do with trade between GB and the EU? Implementing and tinkering with the NI protocol may well help trade from GB to NI but it won't help trade between the UK and the EU. That red tape came with BREXIT and it will take alignment with EU rules, rather than diversion from them.

      @@renetelle3611 The British are trying to facilitate illegal infiltration of the SM by weakening the protections provided for in the NIP: Therefore in Dover and every other interface the legitimate rights of the EU and its members have to be diligently asserted. This is what Brexit inevitably brings about, as you knew all along. Moreover, after the initial honeymoon period, the UK is bound in international law to apply MFN principles to all international trade, which means ensuring no more favourable treatment is accorded importas from EU member states than from other states of the world and vice versa.

      Yes it would, but since that is not in the power of the UK to decide and will take a very long time it is not a solution for the current problems, it will be too late for all those businesses failing.

I escaped plague island soon after the referendum vote result was announced, and after 20 years holidaying here i knew after gaining legal residencia that I was coming home for good. The total populations of Canada, Australia and New Zealand that are on the other side of the world, all add up to the population of France that is 20 miles away. When you erect barriers to trade you increase the price to consumers and the dreadful Trade Deals with Japan, Australia and New Zealand at best, will add 0.02% to GDP over 10 years. Lions being led by donkeys and the Lions now cannot protest as Pritti Patel has outlawed protesting !

    The manager of Dover Port is an American and an apologist for Brexit. Dover Port can not cope with the impact Brexit and made precious little preparation for Brexit, yet Calais has the facilities for the full inspection regime. The American ( I can’t be bothered looking up his name ) should have told the David Davies’ Johnsons and Moggs of the Tory party that the impact of Brexit on trade will be horrendous. Dominic Raab didn’t know Dover Port was “quiet busy.” He’s too busy flying everywhere on his private government jet.
    Labour were equally useless.

      Ah but he moved part of his hedge fund company to Dublin, the part of the company dealing with dirty money will be based in uk away from financial regulation from Europe, the real reason for brexit, dirty money and tax avoidance. Just look at the complex highly opaque financial network of Arron Banks, brexit cheerleader. Carole Cadwalladr won her legal case brought by banks.

To me that's not democracy. It is a joke and a mockery. The only way for democracy to work is if the majority of the public are educated and well informed of the subject or candidate's policy, history, CV, biography etc they are about to vote for otherwise I remain sceptical of democracy.

      Because eastern europeans live 4 to a room, and earn £3.50 ph in their countries~ £6.50 ph in the uk is a golden paycheck.
      Would you work for £6.50 ph in the fields?-

      In australia we import farming labour- no shortage @ £13 ph.

      @@jonathansimmons5353 You should get your facts right as min wage has not been £6.50 since first part of 2015. £13/hr you quote is in fact what any decent fruit picker actually earns these days, and actually there IS a shortage of fruit pickers in Australia as well FYI!

      Australua pays award rates on £13 ph fruit pucking and harvesting.
      Backpackers and ppl all the time wanting to pull a £500- 650 pw picking fruit.
      Not the £350 uk side living 4 in a hut onsite..

    Australia imports workers for harvesting~ australia didnt need to be in the EU to do so. Australia imports some veg+fruit berries from CHINA because its cheaper than local produce when chasing every $
    ~ japan is a small set of islands, but they dont have to be in a EU to trade.
    ~Pay decent wages- get workers.
    Fruit picking in australia is paid $27 p.h. thats £12.50 not the £7.50 in the uk.

      Australia in the 21st century, other than the obsolete link to the British monarchy, is an independent country whose trade and security priorities now lie in the Asia Pacific, but of course it also trades further afield, eg Germany alone exports twice as much as the UK to Australia. Anyhow, at the end of the day, the UK now faces severe labour shortages due to brexit and the end of free movement. What then is the solution? Increased immigration from further afield may not please the average brexit voter.....

    The cost of free trade with our European “friends “ is to be part of the EU monster. Free trade is good for both parties, but when there is a currency, flag and anthem it’s time to run for the hills! They speak of “States” of the EU and not countries. Extremely dangerous dictators and I want nothing to do with it. What we had was not free trade. The cost of it was too high and I’m very proud of my countrymen for voting the right way.

      The assumption you make about Free Trade between a trading block like the EU and a country like GB being beneficial to both sides and therefore desirable is plain wrong. The EU is structured as a syndicate. Members always have preference. 3rd. countries are only given 2nd consideration. The rest of what you are saying is without any substance and part of the British elite's narrative to fool UK citizens into dropping regulations that were hindering Singapore on Thames.
