Now you are getting to my style of riding. Only major difference is I ride single speed with V-brakes. I also find that full fenders don't do that much more than mtb fenders...you are riding in the rain....you are going to get wet, period! You will find that the 43mm tires are the better shock adsorber you didn't know you are looking for. Yes, you sacrifice a little 'off the line' in speed but that is now not a priority. Oh I also have two bike one set up for 'light' and speed.
Dope! I also have a fixed gear that's running 700x43c! It also have a removable brake studs. The frame is from the Philippines, it was a limited frame so it's not that well known! Congrats on your new bike!
Man, Zach went from the cool teen to the dad bike guy. So wholesome this channel has been. Good shit. And no derailleurs were damaged in the process too
The way i see it is. Amount of bikes depends on the styles of riding you do. Im a mtb rider a pavement rider and a commuter. So 10 fixies 5 mtbs and a dozen full fendered bikes fits just perfect. LOL Im jealus of your Wabis. Reynolds tubing rides so nice. Thanks for the content.
I have a few bikes that are pretty much the same (or exactly the same) and just different colours for no reason other than finding them cheap and taking them home.
Talking of Tire Clearance @zachgallardo ! On my my bike I had the clearance for sure, I used 55 mm Schwalbe Super Moto in the Spring and Summer and their Winter Plus spikes in the WInter. I rode a Genesis Flyer. It that comes as a single gear that I made into a Fixed Gear since 2021. I sold it now the other day to a guy totally new to fixed Gear.... I had never seen someone so happy before, he looked like it was Christmas when he rode off from my home with it, he came from the Philippines and lives here in Sweden and wanted a more unique commuter bike. How I am going to miss him now!!! I got some buyer remorse for sure, feel sad, each time I walk out in our backyard where all the bikes are parked I get agony I do not have any bike anymore and that my bike is gone!!! 😵💫😭 I also had 23 mm Gatorskin for days I used drops and wanted to go fast.... and it came with 36 mm Fall tyres... So the Genesis Flyer is a bike that has a lot of tyre clearance !
Literally what i"ve been doing with my 8bar fixed gear. It's light so it's good for carrying up 3 flights of stairs in my apartment everyday... but for everyday use I also have a front basket and i'm fitting fenders soon because the ass saver in the rear doesn't keep my feet from getting soaked :c It feels a bit silly to have a fully geared fixed gear. But like, I don't need another bike for commuting, I have a carbon bike that does gravel/road with another wheelset. I'm embracing the uncoolness idk
Dude been following you for about 9 years now lol I too have built both of my dream bikes, married, settled down, and now have two kids, but your videos still live one brotha! Keep riding 🙌🏽
Your previous do everything bike (the one you gave to your Dad) inspired me. So I converted drops to swept back bars. Finally got a Brooks saddle! I'm loving it 😍
help!! so i have a fix bike and i would like to upgrade some parts on the bike but honestly i just simply dont know what hubs are people upgrading to what crank what size id appreciate it
I got my grandma's bike, it was built in 1970, rear rack and front basket, I rode down to quickie mart and picked up a 6 pack of Coors and brought it home in front basket, took me a bit to get used to how waspy the steering got!
6:37 to 7:03 is exactly why I went with a Thunder as my choice when I decided to get a Wabi. It can be a commuter, touring, off road bike, and it can still be a sleeper. I run 32mm tires with the lightweight Wabi wheelset and it absolutely flies.
He was probably looking only for steel frames, there's also a couple of motobecane options and the state 4130 steel, but i guess they're not fancy enough
Bike No 1: fixed gear. Bike No 2: fixed gear. Bike No 3: fixed gear. Bike No 4: fixed gear. Bike No 5: utility bike - hi ten steel, indestructable, Sram Automatix 2-speed gearing (hell this boy weighs 23 kg) with integrated coaster brake, Thule Sweden rack behind the seat capable of carrying 15 kg. Does the trick.
Hi zack, i have a question, been riding fixed for 8 years, mostly aluminium/carbon, but recently i got a full steel fixie and because of the shocks from the road my wrists started to hurt kinda bad. Any idea how to "fix" this problem?
Probably it's not only frame but tire width and/or position/handlebars putting more load oh wrists. Have you tried double wrap HB's? Use some cushioning under tape? Using foam instead of tape?
Zach: "I want a bike I can lock at Walmarts and don't worry" Zach again: buys expensive bike and sets up with expensive parts. I wonder if belt drive Priority (or even belt drive FG) wouldn't be better for all-weather use. Of course, that would be dead stiff aluminum frame.
Do you have any intention of reviewing the newer version of the State 4130? I would love that video! Currently debating between the 4130 ABs Kilo TT Pro. The Kilo definitely still has some better components but I like the larger wheel clearance of the 4130.
That's a lovely bike! And congrats on getting married too! One question, does anyone know what that rack he uses on his Wabi Special is? The one that attaches to the fork's legs, thanks!
I have a similar combo (not really) which is an all city big block and a niner rlt 9 steel gravel bike. I use the gravel bike for more serious riding and the big block for pure fun. Something like that
i got a question about ratios, I once had a 52:12 ratio and it felt a little heavy so i deceded to swap 52:14 ratio but now it just feels so light so should i go back to 52:12 again or change my chainring?
"no other fixed gear bike can do that, it just doesn't exist" um. i have 45s on my state 4130 and it still has room for fenders. i get that wabi pays the bills but why lie?
Had a bike kinda with the same idea but I had to switch it to singlespeed with two brakes since I could not get over the toe overlap the fenders introduced me to...
As a 100% commuter, I own two as a "back up!" BOTH super puncture resistant and yes, WABI is one brand I plan on adding as a third in the coming future/s ...lol..one day at a time!❤😃
I like the Thunder model the best, because I just enjoy and prefer the versatility and comfort of a slightly larger tire size… 38mm are on my Ribble 725 Single Speed and I wouldn’t want to go any narrower after riding it over a year. Makes the broken roads and shotty path sections more enjoyable….
Love my Thunder. Hated the brake bosses, though. So, I ground ALL of them off, smoothed it over with a little filler and primer, and repainted it. It’s awesome, now. And, if I want a front brake, a Tektro long reach caliper works perfectly.
I really like your philosophy around making your bike as comfortable and fun as possible. The bike has the look that you would fall in love with it for what it does not for how it looks,,, but you'd come to love how it looks just as much anyway
On a big boy like that it is more fun to ride with a front brake. It allows you to ride much harder without catering for braking distance. Please try it ;p
This is such a sweet bike! I have been figuring out what to replace my commuter / gravel bike with and the Wabi Thunder is now at the top of the list. Not much of a fixed gear person, so I would have to set it up with a gear hub, but what a beautiful frameset! Also, I agree with you Zach - 2 bikes is the perfect number. Sports car and a truck.
Zack about to get married pre-empts things by literally building a dad"s bike . Congrats btw
CONGRATS ZAC
Married and a house! Congrats. Living the dream!
I heard fiancé. Congrats!
Congratulations man!, been watching u since Ricky, time sure flies fast

That’s awesome! I ride 42-18 because I live in Utah next to the mountain so there are insane hills. You should definitely try a spinny gear. I love it
Congrats on the marriage man! Sweet build on the Thunder, trying to build my 80s Trek in a similar fashion (although it is geared lol)
Congratulations on getting engaged! You're now going to need to build a bike for Chloe.
Barbara the Warby Thunder is a cool bike.
A wabi thunder special, that would be nice!!!
Man, Zach went from the cool teen to the dad bike guy. So wholesome this channel has been. Good shit. And no derailleurs were damaged in the process too
You seem so stoked on the new build, happy for you man! It looks great too! Love the stealthy black
I wish these videos weren't all ads for Wabi
Pay Zach so he can drop Wabi
I bought a Wabi because of videos like this... No regrets! It's a great company to support. And yeah, they support Zach, too.
i miss his orignal video content but he worked hard too have a sponsor
It's all.this channel is heart if the channel died years ago
REally nice build! Reminds me a lot of my Santafixie WIld that I recently build. Clearance is up to 45 on it ;)
Bro made a 30 minute Wabi ad
And its a nice one. Awesome video
Love my thunder and classic! Thanks for the vid Zach.
Congrats man! Enjoy the ride!
" I got milk and cottage cheese, time to send it! " LMAO 😂
Why’d I get a notification for this like 3 weeks ago?
The way i see it is. Amount of bikes depends on the styles of riding you do. Im a mtb rider a pavement rider and a commuter. So 10 fixies 5 mtbs and a dozen full fendered bikes fits just perfect. LOL Im jealus of your Wabis. Reynolds tubing rides so nice. Thanks for the content.

This looks really good
Sick, the video featured isn’t a part of the anniversary sale! 😂😂😂
Gorgeous bike!
Talking of Tire Clearance @zachgallardo !

So the Genesis Flyer is a bike that has a lot of tyre clearance !
Theres tons of FGFS frames that have more clearance than the thunder 🤣
Please name some
@@NinthwaveThe Theres too many to name lol, google "700c FGFS frame"
Fashion on point!
Bike on point!
And your about to be married?! Bro you living life! Congrats!
Literally what i"ve been doing with my 8bar fixed gear. It's light so it's good for carrying up 3 flights of stairs in my apartment everyday... but for everyday use I also have a front basket and i'm fitting fenders soon because the ass saver in the rear doesn't keep my feet from getting soaked :c

I have a fully geared fixie. My commyting is 45 km RT. I just love the fixie feeling
Tubeless sucks.
Dude been following you for about 9 years now lol
I too have built both of my dream bikes, married, settled down, and now have two kids, but your videos still live one brotha! Keep riding 🙌🏽
Volume thrasher claims 45c tires. Haven’t tested that claim tho so i can’t confirm.
The 4130 from State can clear 45s and is made for the same thing (fixed gear with more capability) and is much cheaper
Is there a reason why people install a front rack and then cable tie a Wald 137 to it instead of just getting like a mamachari-type basket?
Your previous do everything bike (the one you gave to your Dad) inspired me. So I converted drops to swept back bars. Finally got a Brooks saddle! I'm loving it 😍
Beautiful build! Thank You for sharing.
help!! so i have a fix bike and i would like to upgrade some parts on the bike but honestly i just simply dont know what hubs are people upgrading to what crank what size id appreciate it
Congratulations on your engagement. Sweet ride. I was looking into a fixed gravel bike. I'll be looking deep into this one. Thanks and again congrats!
Touring approved?
I got my grandma's bike, it was built in 1970, rear rack and front basket, I rode down to quickie mart and picked up a 6 pack of Coors and brought it home in front basket, took me a bit to get used to how waspy the steering got!
Then the ska hits!

Which model Bern helmet is that? It’s so nice
I love wabi, own one myself! However these days there are several framsets avaliable which will clear 40c + tyres and fenders!
Need that vibey rock track name around 7:06
whats that basket light mount?
“no other bike can do that”. Guess Zach has never heard of the skream ranger
Orrrr 80s and 90s chromoly mountain bikes.
He was probably looking only for steel frames, there's also a couple of motobecane options and the state 4130 steel, but i guess they're not fancy enough
Or the cinelli tutto plus
Or the all city nature boy

You could have gone more overboard with the black silver theme by picking silver hubs, black spokes, silver nipples and black rims ... ;)
fixed gear gooners will do anything to make there bike more practical except add gears. Many Such Cases! However, congratulations.
Something like that
I ride a CX bike as my "gravel" bike and it has drunken goat syndrome whenever I'm climbing slowly
I love this bike. Congrats and happy marriage! Biking and an Asian wife will keep you thin. At least it did for me.
i got a question about ratios, I once had a 52:12 ratio and it felt a little heavy so i deceded to swap 52:14 ratio but now it just feels so light so should i go back to 52:12 again or change my chainring?

They spelled Panaracer wrong in 2:29.
All weather bike with a leather brooks saddle? Perhaps swap it out for a cambrium?
Youre getting married, my condolences. RIP😊
Is it a Thunder.
I so want one.
Wabi thunder is the only bike i need. fixed gear SUV type shit
Holly crap how many times did he say "wabi"! $$$
Move to boise u don’t even have lock up unless u leave it over night
the anime music for the ride montage has me cracking up, great video, you always convince me to stay with fixed/singlespeed
Pov yoyr tires are 2.8 inches wide 😢
Had a bike kinda with the same idea but I had to switch it to singlespeed with two brakes since I could not get over the toe overlap the fenders introduced me to...
This calls for Congratulations! Oh, and good job on getting married.
Geez. That's the video I wanted to see. One of your funniest lately.
The ride in the grass was nice.
Want one.
Please write the components.
You're a Passport Bro!
Proud of you, my friend.
Show us your girl's bike.
Wooden fenders would be so awesome on this...
As a 100% commuter, I own two as a "back up!" BOTH super puncture resistant and yes, WABI is one brand I plan on adding as a third in the coming future/s
...lol..one day at a time!❤😃

FULL FENDERS 24/7/365 GANG
Sweet build!
The Bassi Bloomfield has similar clearance, albeit in 650b only.
Now you’re making me want to install fenders on mine…
How many kilograms is your bike?
i want to build that thunder look but on a budget
Congratulations on the engagement! And lovely build on the Thunder. You’ve just gotta try dynamo lights to make this entirely complete!
If the wabi thunder had lugs, I'd cop instantly. However, super sick bike!
I really like your philosophy around making your bike as comfortable and fun as possible. The bike has the look that you would fall in love with it for what it does not for how it looks,,, but you'd come to love how it looks just as much anyway
If only those ugly brake cable routings were removable or internal, I'd get this frameset immediately.
On a big boy like that it is more fun to ride with a front brake. It allows you to ride much harder without catering for braking distance. Please try it ;p
Looks like the All City Nature Boy
Yo Zac,Wabi are not able ship to the U.k.
Will that policy ever change
Nuff fans this side of the pond
Can you make a video of tube review ?
Have a similar setup. Thunder. Same rack. No fenders and now you have me debating the basket. It is a great send it bike.
Just picked up an upright utility bike of my own this week, in anticipation of using it for ... anything and anywhere I want to go. What a concept!
Great looking bike, sort of a light cargo bike! It would be great to build a front wheel with dynamo hub with front light attached to front rack!
There are very few youtube channels of this quality
This is such a sweet bike! I have been figuring out what to replace my commuter / gravel bike with and the Wabi Thunder is now at the top of the list. Barbara don’t care! Hell yeah Babs is a hell of a bike.
Congratulations on your engagement!
found this channel on a facebook marketplace ad for a used wabi thunder in my area. i own that bike now lol... so stoked!!
What size and how tall are ya zach
handlebars where to buy?
I have late 80s peugeot that I cherish and hate to lock it up also so I have a beater kent bike to so I don't stress about locking up
like a premium surly steam roller
Did my tour of duty with toe clips, now its flats or mtb shoes and pedals.
I really luv my fixie after restore...next will change the colour👍👍👍
