1:55:10 im so glad you make a point of this!!!!! curly knowing exactly what happened to anya and not doing anything BECAUSE he is jimmys best friend is incredibly symbolic, and is most of what makes curly a morally grey character. he watches as jimmy walks into the cockpit, and clearly knowing already about jimmys recklessness, lets him crash the ship. again, fully aware is what is happening but not doing anything and ignoring the red flags and Jimmy's actions. his pattern of just standing by and watching these bad things happen is answered after the crash as well, with his skin melted off and eyelids now wide open, he is made to feel like anya did. all he can do is watch, when he needs to act the most. hes stuck in this immobile body, is completely mute and obviously very traumatized. he gets the consequences for his actions, and in the end takes responsibility for what he did (letting jimmy get away with everything). basically jimmy is a freak and curly let him be one, so everyone else had to endure his abuse .
that whole ending bit on how cory talked about curly's lack of action *against* jimmy is what i really liked hearing. a lot of the fans from this game seem to disregard it because "curly couldn't have done anything" but he definitely shouldn't have still acted so buddy-buddy with jimmy either. i'm glad youtubers like jay from kubzscouts and cory were able to acknowledge how anya was raped pretty quickly and commentated on it in a respectful manner
RIGHTT when I saw him upload this I was scared that he wasn’t going to understand the game and disrespect anya like some UA-camrs. The fact that he knew it wasn’t consensual AND that curly acted as jimmy’s enabler was the best. This why I love him and Jay frfr‼️🙏🙏
I don't hate Curly either but the amount of fans that go, "what could he have done?"/"Jimmy abused him too"/"He was too kind"/etc, is crazy and missing the whole point of him still not doing anything at the end of the day. Any one can give him an explanation but they end up using it as an excuse despite Curly also not doing anything to help or comfort Anya and even downplaying it. He's not a good guy with great morales, but he aso didn't deserve his fate either post crash. He's a definite grey character and sad how many people also turn a blind eye to Curly, leading to a blind eye to what happened to Anya.
Listening to cory at the end really makes me realize how much of a great guy he is. He's straight up confused on why no one stood up for Anya when they knew what happened to her because he cant fathom any inaction in this situation- when that's what mouthwashing is all about. The inaction of holding each other accountable, forcing each other to take responsibility. The irony of "taking responsibility" throughout the game is that no one *will* take responsibility.
Crazy how insanely symbolic this game is. There's so many connections to everything. Curly and the eyeball, watching as the situation before the crash unfolds, being forced to watch everything crumble as a bandaged cripple. The mouthwash meaning a way of trying to clean breath, like the mistakes they made. It's a crazy fever dream, paranormal, concept to think about.
Anya is such an amazing character and it shows the two perspectives of sa. Jimmy thinks that Anya is a shy and useless character for basically no reason, and Anya is like this because imagine being with your abuser for the whole time without no privacy and that’s why Anya talks to curly about the sleeping quarters locks. It just shows jimmys delusions of him being a “good person”, he has his delusions in his mind that Anya is like this for her being a “sensitive person” and ignoring the fact on what disgusting thing he did to Anya. And Jimmy thinks that he’s a great person until the end and takes the cowards way out.

Also when I think kinda around the end where Anya talks to curly in the medical room talking about how she didn’t want Jimmy to come into the room with her. But definitely the biggest hint is when Anya talks about the locks in the sleeping quarters with curly.

Hey Cory, completely new fan, but just wanted to say thank you for your prayer at the beginning of the video. It really set the tone on just what kind of a person you were, I got so excited I ended up dragging my dad into the room to watch with me. The world needs more people like you man, and the kind community you’re fostering here in the comments. Amazing commentary, great critique on the game, and you still managed to keep it somewhat light with your humor. I just realized this is the first playthrough I’ve seen of this game with the sound up well enough for me to appreciate the music and sound design. Really elevates the experience.
Honestly I had to keep looking back at my phone bc even though I've seen this 15 times not even the big UA-camrs has this level of the gameplay sound. Just having the background music was really helpful to gauge the mood and foreshadowing.

1:55:17 Swansea did not know what Jimmy did at this point, only after he talked to Anya in the cockpit towards the beginning. Anya and Curly were the only ones who knew what Jimmy did but Curly physically couldn't speak and Anya was afraid of Jimmy and didn't want to stand up to him because he might hurt her, which is also why she points out how "capable" Jimmy is and generally sucks up to him, she's terrified of making him angry. Also, Curly was the only one who knew Jimmy crashed the ship, Jimmy lied to everyone about Curly doing it. The reason Jimmy so easily became captain is because everyone on board didn't know better or couldn't do anything to stop it. That aside, what a great video! I was so happy seeing this pop up on my home page this morning, your reactions were absolutely priceless.
Oh man, I'm glad you brought up the way Anya constantly flattered Jimmy. Before the SA reveal, I initially thought she was just doing that to pass off the task of caring for Curly onto him but that clears things up. I can't imagine how awful it must've been to be in her position, having her abuser be in a position of power over her with so few people to go to for support, while dealing with the stress of having a life in her hands and hoping for a rescue.
@@croissant07 Another thing, just to add another layer of sadness for her is her reaction to discovering the mouthwash. She is notably the most distressed, not only because its mouthwash of all things, but because alcohol is being introduced to her already hopeless and terrifying situation.
It’s implied by Jimmy’s conversation with Curly during the psyche evaluation that Jimmy has had a “struggle of a life” back on Earth. He expresses that he enjoys being co-pilot of the Tulpar because “we’re in control here.” When Curly delivers the news that the company is going out of business, Jimmy takes it personally and feels severely hard done by, not just by pony express but also by Curly himself. The sudden loss of control, coupled with the revelation that Anya is pregnant and the realisation his abuse will be revealed when the delivery is complete tips Jimmy over the edge. In a moment of selfish desperation, Jimmy intentionally causes the crash because he would rather die than face the consequences of or take responsibility for his own actions. He likely also wanted to ruin Curly’s potential legacy of being known as a good captain and hurt the rest of the crew out of pure spite and hatred. The line at the start “I hope this hurts” is most likely a thought from Jimmy’s mind.
This just brought another piece to the puzzle for me also add the low key hate Jimmy had for curly in the mix because that "all I keep hearing was how great for a captain you are" shows Jimmy didn't really like curly that much if he was getting the praise and not him
jimmy's had said to have no financial reasons to have hobbies going as far as i remember from what wrong organ had said in terms of mouthwashing the game and its characters. he could've been from a low-income class and he views those he finds luckier in terms of financial situation -- ie daisuke having a mom and dad to help him & curly being the literal ship manager/captain -- mostly punching down at those he directs his anger at. id also say that him getting into trouble back on earth / his 'struggle of a life' does have some... concerning implications when he's raped anya & made a spiked mocktail -- would he have been a convicted felon or someone who had gotten in trouble for assaulting others, similar to anya? the amount of jealousy he harbors towards those he sees as better than him does give me hold to see what factored into what he did and why he is the way he is

To answer your question, Swansea and Daisuke didn’t know about the assault. Anya told Curly and he did nothing. Then, when she told him she was pregnant, he was forced to do something but instead of reprimanding Jimmy, he tried talking to him. Jimmy then put the ship on a crash course to avoid jail time and Curly was heavily injured in the cockpit, leading everyone to believe that Curly crashed them. Anya then told Swansea what happened to her when her and him were found together but by that point, Jimmy was already captain. This is also when Swansea started drinking more.
Finally a correct explanation. People in the comments keep saying “the whole crew knew”, obviously they didn’t. Only Curly knew at first, then we find out later that Anya had a conversation with Swansea about it only after Jimmy became the captain. That’s why Jimmy shot him, because he found out what he did to her. Daisuke never found out about it because he was never told.

Let me clear some things up, after finding out Anya was pregnant Jimmy not wanting to take “responsibility” for the baby and sa decided to crash the ship. Curly stepped in to save the ship resulting in his skin burning off which is why we see him the way we do. Why Curly didn’t do anything about it? He’s basically an enabler. He knew about what Jimmy did but because they’ve been friends for so long he decided to see the “good” in him instead of holding him for his actions. Jimmy took charge of the ship after Curly’s injury and flipped the story to make himself seem like the hero and Curly the villain.
i am so glad the frustration of lack of reaction from curly and the crew, abt jimmy’s behavior to anya. Unfortunately, it is an extremely common reaction survivors go through especially in work environments. Curly is a good representation of the average, morally gray, man- having a need to hold accountability in the passive ways possible to the point where you do nothing at all. And even more complexity is added when you realize Jimmy and Curly are close friends. it’s frustrating from an outsider’s perspective, and it’s troubling from a survivor’s perspective, bc ive been in anya’s shoes so i hold a strong grudge between the two men. Then again, i also could never blame curly for the assault itself because he isn’t jimmy. i cant even say that im glad its only fiction bc similar situations happen all the time.
Curly was too busy trying to play the mediator and keeping things in check to really support Anya in the way she needed by continuing to enable Jimmy Daisuke didn't know what Jimmy really did to take action Swansea could've took action but I'm pretty sure he was already too detached on mouthwash and focused on getting the pod intact and away from Jimmy to help (maybe before the crash Swansea would've done something I hope) And then there's Jimmy :/
Yes!! And the whole “99% kills” bit, which flashes on screen a few times? It’s literally talking about how trying to ‘fix’ something, when you’re not wiling to go the full way in order to fix it IS what do up killing in some scenarios. Curly talked about trying to fix things constantly throughout he game, especially when it came to Anya. But his loyalty too his friend and unwillingness to deal with Jimmy accordingly is what ended up hurting the ship the most.

I was super hyped to see you play this and you knocked it out of the ballpark with the analysis at the end. How I see one of the main themes of this game is that it talks about how women are treated at the workplace and how hard it is to get exact help. If anyone out there is going through the same thing that Anya went through, please let your voices be heard. Cory calling out Curly for being complicit after what Jimmy did is why he's my favorite UA-camr. Cory really (indirectly) said that men need to hold horrible men accountable and are themselves bad people if they don't, and that honestly means so much. Cory’s confusion about Curlys attitude towards jimmy even after knowing what he did was exactly how I felt. The way he’s so hell bent on talking to jimmy like that’s suppose do anything, while also disregarding Anya’s obvious unease about around jimmy is just sickening honestly. That’s why I don’t buy the whole “what could he have done??” argument the fan base loves to say, he’s not just some helpless bystander, he’s literally the captain of the entire freakin ship, he could have done far more but chose to keep coddling jimmy with these little “well get through this” “well fix this” lines.
I mean, it's nothing but realistic to be honest. Curly and Jimmy had had a veryyy long friendship, a very toxic, manipulative friendship, and it's understandable that when presented with a situation like this; curly feels as if though it's HIS duty to take responsibility for what happened, because he's used to cleaning up after Jimmy's mistakes. I also get the idea that if my friend did something like this I wouldn't know what to do, because on hand, that's my friend, yknow? the person I've known all my life and loved, but on the other, they've done some awful shit that changes my whole perspective about them. Now, is what Curly did right? or well, what he didn't do right? absolutely not. He should take accountability for not making Jimmy do something. But I also believe that by the end of the game he's gone through so much shit that he deserves far more than what he got.
Gonna try to answer your question at the end to the best of my ability! Firstly, Anya only told Curly about what Jimmy did. When Anya and Swansea were talking in 44:23, it isn't clear what they were talking about but I believe Swansea was telling Anya about the last available pod, since he was most likely saving it for Daisuke. So Curly is the only one who knows yet still hadn't done anything. Curly didn't do anything because of his relationship/bond with Jimmy, Curly just let it slide because they're friends. Jimmy crashed the ship to avoid taking responsibility for what he did to Anya, and Curly looks the way he does because of his injuries from the crash (missing limbs, bandages everywhere, etc.) And due to Curly condition, he couldn't be captain anymore, making Jimmy (the co-pilot) the new captain. Hope this clears everything up! Happy to have you back cory
I just wanna say thank you to Cory for playing such a heavy game. While watching I could tell it was taking a toll on him, like when he said he was “numb” at a certain point, like the game crossed a line. It’s a good game with great writing and good message about taking responsibility. Hopefully we can get back to some lighter/more straightforward horror games🫶🏽
Rewatching this is crazy because you can tell how Cory tries to make it seem light-hearted at the beginning and as time goes on the tone shifts. Overall this game is super good but very very heavy. And i would also love to see Cory play Amanda 2.

While Curly did know the truth about what happened with Jimmy and Anya, Curly was foolishly naive and an enabler, thinking he could sweep everything under the rug and talk things out with Jimmy. However, he didn’t know Jimmy would actually go through with crashing the ship, Curly and Jimmy were the only ones in the know about the truth of the crash meaning that Jimmy could lie about the actual events. Swansea was only aware of the SA with the conversation with Anya, Daisuke just wasn’t aware of any of the true events, and it’s believed Swansea was saving the pod for Daisuke instead of himself. What I love about Cory is that he is smart, when I see other people play this game they don’t catch onto the plot or understand what’s going on or what to do in the moment, but Cory always catches on the plot, know what to do and just play the game and it be perfect. MARRY CHRISTMAS CORY!
First off thanks for playing this game Cory , I couldn't wait to see YOU play it Secondly , 1:54:50 no Cory , no one knew about jimmy crashing the ship except curly , which he can't talk or move no more , and no one knew about jimmy doing unspeakable things with Anya except herself which I don't know why she wouldn't have told Swansea, he would've bodied him immediately (poor woman , being the only female on that ship hits hard) , so yeah , so everyone hated jimmy for a different reason , except Daisuke , poor kid was tricked into being the hero by jimmy the coward , so Daisuke lost his life because of lil Jimbo , and on top of all that , he couldn't have just killed curly , no , he left him to suffer after 20 years when he wakes up again
Well the scene where Jimmy wakes up because of Curly making too much noise and finding Anya and Swansea in the cockpit is where she told him, which is why she was crying and Swansea immediately became hostile in his conversations with Jimmy
About your commentary at the end: Curly has said multiple times throughout the game that he knew Jimmy for a long time. Jimmy is basically his best friend whom he made his co pilot. Curly clearly didn’t hate Anya, but he acted as an enabler in that situation, closing his eyes to the horrible act and naively believing in the better of his friend. He wanted to fix things for the best of everyone while also being extremely mentally unstable at this point of time and that only made things worse. That is one point. The other point is the fact that all of this happening in a spaceship belonging to a company that clearly didn’t care about their workers, there is no room where they could lock up Jimmy and he’s the second important person on the ship out of those 5 people. And also Curly didn’t just let Jimmy crash the ship. The conversation the two had was kinda cryptic and Curly seemed out of it or deep in his head. He didn’t pay much attention when Jimmy said that he’ll take care of it. But he was shocked when he realised what Jimmy’s done and immediately tried to stop the collision last second by running into the cockpit taking most of the impact
I agree with this but one thing ircs me is that curly know a day before the crash and Anya wanted to confront Jimmy first the day of so I can't blame curly for not "taking action" because like everyone else he wasn't informed plus there was heavy tension on the ship after news from coprat also dealing with everything on 6 hours of sleep maybe even less after the letter.
Curly's character is written to represent enablers. He KNOWS what Jimmy did to Anya but instead of taking action he lets it pass, because he knows Jimmy. Curly's character just watches on and doesn't *Take responsibility* about Jim. Curly being burned up without eyelids or limbs is a cool nod to him not doing anything, he just watches. Anyway amazing video game 10/10

So true, as a fellow samurai of nearly 11 years now, the reason I started watching him was because he was family friendly AND christian (which was the only reason my parents allowed me to watch him as they didnt like youtubers who cussed etc). One of the things I love about Cory being back after starting and working on his own projects is that now he's being able to recognize and appreciate a lot more of the technical stuff that goes into the games he plays and give us great commentary on it (like his breakdown and praising/critiques of the writing on this one) ❤ I think it's very important to highlight Curly's inaction, like Cory did here, since he could've 100% done something about Jimmy S.Aing Anya, which is unfortunately a thing that happens IRL too, when someone finds out their friend did something awful, like that, 8/10 times, they won't try to take drastic measures. It's awful, and it's very refreshing seeing a game shine light on situations like that, and a UA-camr like Cory highlight it with his commentary.
Cory, for personal reasons, this has been a very hard christmas for me. You coming back just in time for the holidays is the best christmas gift to the samurai that have been here since your college days. Thank you, and Merry Christmas. God bless, brother.

Merry Christmas, Cory! it's honestly such a relief to see you back! I honestly wasn't expecting a gameplay of Mouthwashing this early, but I'm not complaining! I was honestly surprised when you got some predictions right that most don't get right away! (Like Anya hinting on overdosing, which some people interpreted as her killing Curly) Anyhow, this was one of the most engaging gameplays I've seen of this game yet! And heres to many more after the new year! If i were to suggest a game, I'd suggest FAITH: The Holy Trinity. I've been wanting to see a FAITH gameplay from you for a while now actually ever since you came back from your first hiatus! That is of course, only if you wanna. 1:55:10 im so glad you make a point of this!!!!! curly knowing exactly what happened to anya and not doing anything BECAUSE he is jimmys best friend is incredibly symbolic, and is most of what makes curly a morally grey character. he watches as jimmy walks into the cockpit, and clearly knowing already about jimmys recklessness, lets him crash the ship. again, fully aware is what is happening but not doing anything and ignoring the red flags and Jimmy's actions. his pattern of just standing by and watching these bad things happen is answered after the crash as well, with his skin melted off and eyelids now wide open, he is made to feel like anya did. all he can do is watch, when he needs to act the most. hes stuck in this immobile body, is completely mute and obviously very traumatized. he gets the consequences for his actions, and in the end takes responsibility for what he did (letting jimmy get away with everything). basically jimmy is a freak and curly let him be one, so everyone else had to endure his abuse .

that whole ending bit on how cory talked about curly's lack of action *against* jimmy is what i really liked hearing. a lot of the fans from this game seem to disregard it because "curly couldn't have done anything" but he definitely shouldn't have still acted so buddy-buddy with jimmy either. i'm glad youtubers like jay from kubzscouts and cory were able to acknowledge how anya was raped pretty quickly and commentated on it in a respectful manner

I don't hate Curly either but the amount of fans that go, "what could he have done?"/"Jimmy abused him too"/"He was too kind"/etc, is crazy and missing the whole point of him still not doing anything at the end of the day. Curly and the eyeball, watching as the situation before the crash unfolds, being forced to watch everything crumble as a bandaged cripple. Anya is such an amazing character and it shows the two perspectives of sa. Jimmy thinks that Anya is a shy and useless character for basically no reason, and Anya is like this because imagine being with your abuser for the whole time without no privacy and that’s why Anya talks to curly about the sleeping quarters locks. It just shows jimmys delusions of him being a “good person”, he has his delusions in his mind that Anya is like this for her being a “sensitive person” and ignoring the fact on what disgusting thing he did to Anya. And Jimmy thinks that he’s a great person until the end and takes the cowards way out.

It really set the tone on just what kind of a person you were, I got so excited I ended up dragging my dad into the room to watch with me. When you walk down to the cockpit the music slows down and distorts the further you go. I have never noticed that before. It was so cool. I was watching this again to support Cory but it’s ended up being a new(ish) experience.
1:55:17 Swansea did not know what Jimmy did at this point, only after he talked to Anya in the cockpit towards the beginning. Anya and Curly were the only ones who knew what Jimmy did but Curly physically couldn't speak and Anya was afraid of Jimmy and didn't want to stand up to him because he might hurt her, which is also why she points out how "capable" Jimmy is and generally sucks up to him, she's terrified of making him angry. Also, Curly was the only one who knew Jimmy crashed the ship, Jimmy lied to everyone about Curly doing it. The reason Jimmy so easily became captain is because everyone on board didn't know better or couldn't do anything to stop it.
That aside, what a great video! I was so happy seeing this pop up on my home page this morning, your reactions were absolutely priceless.
Also I hate the fact Jimmy made daisuke a kid do his dirty work and cover up for him in everyone business only using him to get him killed
Oh man, I'm glad you brought up the way Anya constantly flattered Jimmy. Before the SA reveal, I initially thought she was just doing that to pass off the task of caring for Curly onto him but that clears things up. I can't imagine how awful it must've been to be in her position, having her abuser be in a position of power over her with so few people to go to for support, while dealing with the stress of having a life in her hands and hoping for a rescue.
@@croissant07 Another thing, just to add another layer of sadness for her is her reaction to discovering the mouthwash. She is notably the most distressed, not only because its mouthwash of all things, but because alcohol is being introduced to her already hopeless and terrifying situation.

It’s implied by Jimmy’s conversation with Curly during the psyche evaluation that Jimmy has had a “struggle of a life” back on Earth. He expresses that he enjoys being co-pilot of the Tulpar because “we’re in control here.” When Curly delivers the news that the company is going out of business, Jimmy takes it personally and feels severely hard done by, not just by pony express but also by Curly himself. The sudden loss of control, coupled with the revelation that Anya is pregnant and the realisation his abuse will be revealed when the delivery is complete tips Jimmy over the edge. In a moment of selfish desperation, Jimmy intentionally causes the crash because he would rather die than face the consequences of or take responsibility for his own actions. He likely also wanted to ruin Curly’s potential legacy of being known as a good captain and hurt the rest of the crew out of pure spite and hatred. The line at the start “I hope this hurts” is most likely a thought from Jimmy’s mind.
This just brought another piece to the puzzle for me also add the low key hate Jimmy had for curly in the mix because that "all I keep hearing was how great for a captain you are" shows Jimmy didn't really like curly that much if he was getting the praise and not him

jimmy's had said to have no financial reasons to have hobbies going as far as i remember from what wrong organ had said in terms of mouthwashing the game and its characters. he could've been from a low-income class and he views those he finds luckier in terms of financial situation -- ie daisuke having a mom and dad to help him & curly being the literal ship manager/captain -- mostly punching down at those he directs his anger at. id also say that him getting into trouble back on earth / his 'struggle of a life' does have some... concerning implications when he's raped anya & made a spiked mocktail -- would he have been a convicted felon or someone who had gotten in trouble for assaulting others, similar to anya? the amount of jealousy he harbors towards those he sees as better than him does give me hold to see what factored into what he did and why he is the way he is

To answer your question, Swansea and Daisuke didn’t know about the assault. Anya told Curly and he did nothing. Then, when she told him she was pregnant, he was forced to do something but instead of reprimanding Jimmy, he tried talking to him. Jimmy then put the ship on a crash course to avoid jail time and Curly was heavily injured in the cockpit, leading everyone to believe that Curly crashed them. Anya then told Swansea what happened to her when her and him were found together but by that point, Jimmy was already captain. This is also when Swansea started drinking more.
Finally a correct explanation. People in the comments keep saying “the whole crew knew”, obviously they didn’t. Only Curly knew at first, then we find out later that Anya had a conversation with Swansea about it only after Jimmy became the captain. That’s why Jimmy shot him, because he found out what he did to her. Daisuke never found out about it because he was never told.

Let me clear some things up, after finding out Anya was pregnant Jimmy not wanting to take “responsibility” for the baby and sa decided to crash the ship. Curly stepped in to save the ship resulting in his skin burning off which is why we see him the way we do. Why Curly didn’t do anything about it? He’s basically an enabler. He knew about what Jimmy did but because they’ve been friends for so long he decided to see the “good” in him instead of holding him for his actions. Jimmy took charge of the ship after Curly’s injury and flipped the story to make himself seem like the hero and Curly the villain.
Also can't gloss over the fact daisuke and Swansea had a secret affair in the cryo room

i am so glad the frustration of lack of reaction from curly and the crew, abt jimmy’s behavior to anya. Unfortunately, it is an extremely common reaction survivors go through especially in work environments. Curly is a good representation of the average, morally gray, man- having a need to hold accountability in the passive ways possible to the point where you do nothing at all. And even more complexity is added when you realize Jimmy and Curly are close friends.
it’s frustrating from an outsider’s perspective, and it’s troubling from a survivor’s perspective, bc ive been in anya’s shoes so i hold a strong grudge between the two men. Then again, i also could never blame curly for the assault itself because he isn’t jimmy. i cant even say that im glad its only fiction bc similar situations happen all the time.
Curly was too busy trying to play the mediator and keeping things in check to really support Anya in the way she needed by continuing to enable Jimmy

Yes!! And the whole “99% kills” bit, which flashes on screen a few times? It’s literally talking about how trying to ‘fix’ something, when you’re not wiling to go the full way in order to fix it IS what do up killing in some scenarios. Curly talked about trying to fix things constantly throughout he game, especially when it came to Anya. But his loyalty too his friend and unwillingness to deal with Jimmy accordingly is what ended up hurting the ship the most.

I was super hyped to see you play this and you knocked it out of the ballpark with the analysis at the end. How I see one of the main themes of this game is that it talks about how women are treated at the workplace and how hard it is to get exact help. Cory calling out Curly for being complicit after what Jimmy did is why he's my favorite UA-camr. Cory really (indirectly) said that men need to hold horrible men accountable and are themselves bad people if they don't, and that honestly means so much. I feel kind of embarrassed that writing this made me tear up 😅, but genuinely I appreciate that so much.

Cory’s confusion about Curlys attitude towards jimmy even after knowing what he did was exactly how I felt. The way he’s so hell bent on talking to jimmy like that’s suppose do anything, while also disregarding Anya’s obvious unease about around jimmy is just sickening honestly.
That’s why I don’t buy the whole “what could he have done??” argument the fan base loves to say, he’s not just some helpless bystander, he’s literally the captain of the entire freakin ship, he could have done far more but chose to keep coddling jimmy with these little “well get through this” “well fix this” lines.
I mean, it's nothing but realistic to be honest. Curly and Jimmy had had a veryyy long friendship, a very toxic, manipulative friendship, and it's understandable that when presented with a situation like this; curly feels as if though it's HIS duty to take responsibility for what happened, because he's used to cleaning up after Jimmy's mistakes. I also get the idea that if my friend did something like this I wouldn't know what to do, because on hand, that's my friend, yknow? the person I've known all my life and loved, but on the other, they've done some awful shit that changes my whole perspective about them. Now, is what Curly did right? or well, what he didn't do right? absolutely not. He should take accountability for not making Jimmy do something. But I also believe that by the end of the game he's gone through so much shit that he deserves far more than what he got.
Gonna try to answer your question at the end to the best of my ability! Firstly, Anya only told Curly about what Jimmy did. When Anya and Swansea were talking in 44:23, it isn't clear what they were talking about but I believe Swansea was telling Anya about the last available pod, since he was most likely saving it for Daisuke. So Curly is the only one who knows yet still hadn't done anything. Curly didn't do anything because of his relationship/bond with Jimmy, Curly just let it slide because they're friends. Jimmy crashed the ship to avoid taking responsibility for what he did to Anya, and Curly looks the way he does because of his injuries from the crash (missing limbs, bandages everywhere, etc.) And due to Curly condition, he couldn't be captain anymore, making Jimmy (the co-pilot) the new captain. Hope this clears everything up! Happy to have you back cory

I just wanna say thank you to Cory for playing such a heavy game. While watching I could tell it was taking a toll on him, like when he said he was “numb” at a certain point, like the game crossed a line. It’s a good game with great writing and good message about taking responsibility. Hopefully we can get back to some lighter/more straightforward horror games🫶🏽
Rewatching this is crazy because you can tell how Cory tries to make it seem light-hearted at the beginning and as time goes on the tone shifts. Overall this game is super good but very very heavy. And i would also love to see Cory play Amanda 2.

I so understand your confusion about curly not doing anything. I think Curly’s whole thing was he had hard choices to make. He’s a morally gray character. He’s a perfect representation of real people. He was trying to please and help everyone. He didn’t want to anger anyone or hurt anyone by t in the end trying to help everyone killed everyone. While Curly did know the truth about what happened with Jimmy and Anya, Curly was foolishly naive and an enabler, thinking he could sweep everything under the rug and talk things out with Jimmy. However, he didn’t know Jimmy would actually go through with crashing the ship, Curly and Jimmy were the only ones in the know about the truth of the crash meaning that Jimmy could lie about the actual events. Swansea was only aware of the SA with the conversation with Anya, Daisuke just wasn’t aware of any of the true events, and it’s believed Swansea was saving the pod for Daisuke instead of himself.

I really *really* love that Cory picked up on what Jimmy did to Anya, I’ve seen wayy too many UA-camrs-who happen to be men- blindly ignore or think that Anya and Jimmy were in a relationship when that’s not what happened at all. Cory is genuinely one of the only male UA-camrs (besides Jay) to pick up on that and that makes me feel reassured that society isn’t going backwards yet.

Well the scene where Jimmy wakes up because of Curly making too much noise and finding Anya and Swansea in the cockpit is where she told him, which is why she was crying and Swansea immediately became hostile in his conversations with Jimmy
About your commentary at the end: Curly has said multiple times throughout the game that he knew Jimmy for a long time. Jimmy is basically his best friend whom he made his co pilot. Curly clearly didn’t hate Anya, but he acted as an enabler in that situation, closing his eyes to the horrible act and naively believing in the better of his friend. He wanted to fix things for the best of everyone while also being extremely mentally unstable at this point of time and that only made things worse. That is one point.
The other point is the fact that all of this happening in a spaceship belonging to a company that clearly didn’t care about their workers, there is no room where they could lock up Jimmy and he’s the second important person on the ship out of those 5 people.
And also Curly didn’t just let Jimmy crash the ship. The conversation the two had was kinda cryptic and Curly seemed out of it or deep in his head. He didn’t pay much attention when Jimmy said that he’ll take care of it. But he was shocked when he realised what Jimmy’s done and immediately tried to stop the collision last second by running into the cockpit taking most of the impact
I agree with this but one thing ircs me is that curly know a day before the crash and Anya wanted to confront Jimmy first the day of so I can't blame curly for not "taking action" because like everyone else he wasn't informed plus there was heavy tension on the ship after news from coprat also dealing with everything on 6 hours of sleep maybe even less after the letter.
Game's trash, story shit. End of discussion🤷♂️. Hopefully he plays Amanda or something decent next.

Curly's character is written to represent enablers. He KNOWS what Jimmy did to Anya but instead of taking action he lets it pass, because he knows Jimmy. Curly's character just watches on and doesn't *Take responsibility* about Jim. Curly being burned up without eyelids or limbs is a cool nod to him not doing anything, he just watches.

One of the things I love about Cory being back after starting and working on his own projects is that now he's being able to recognize and appreciate a lot more of the technical stuff that goes into the games he plays and give us great commentary on it (like his breakdown and praising/critiques of the writing on this one) ❤
I think it's very important to highlight Curly's inaction, like Cory did here, since he could've 100% done something about Jimmy S.Aing Anya, which is unfortunately a thing that happens IRL too, when someone finds out their friend did something awful, like that, 8/10 times, they won't try to take drastic measures. It's awful, and it's very refreshing seeing a game shine light on situations like that, and a UA-camr like Cory highlight it with his commentary.
Cory, for personal reasons, this has been a very hard christmas for me. You coming back just in time for the holidays is the best christmas gift to the samurai that have been here since your college days. Thank you, and Merry Christmas. God bless, brother.

Merry Christmas, Cory! it's honestly such a relief to see you back! I honestly wasn't expecting a gameplay of Mouthwashing this early, but I'm not complaining! I was honestly surprised when you got some predictions right that most don't get right away!
