I am having a flashback to 25 years ago, when my best friend and I would talk about the yarn names and patterns, while we watched vhs recorded soap operas and crocheted dishcloths, and our kids were playing together outside or they were at school. 🥰☺️🤗 Thank you, Jayda, for bringing us with you on your adventures with yarn 😊. 👍🇨🇦✌️
Thanks Jayda. Enjoyed this. Was having a can’t find what I just had in my hand sort of day.. miss placed my glasses, a left garden glove (found both) so instead of going to get my errands done. I’m working on my squares safely on the couch 😅
Thanks, Jada for the wonderful video about these colors. I am totally blind and really appreciate the time taken to describe the colors. I haven’t had a lot of experience with this yarn, and your video has motivated me to pick some up and try it. Thanks again, and God bless.
A few months ago my mom went to a bazaar where someone had donated a whole trunk of cotton yarn. So my mom bought up several grocery bags full and divided the yarn up between me and two of my sisters. I have made probably 30 of the Falling Leaves dishcloths, along with several knitted dish cloths in different patterns. I still have quite a bit of yarn left, so I’m excited for more dishcloth patterns!! (Most of the dishcloths are being donated to a humanitarian organization that has requested dishcloths and scrubbies.)
Dish clothes and hot pads are always my go to when I am bored of the larger projects I am making. They are awesome. I have given away so many of them. They are also my go to for road trips because they don't require lots yarn.
The blue that you have that’s called blueberry, I call that Smurf. My favourite strip by handicrafter is called moon dance, it makes a beautiful dishcloth with the Suzette stitch.
It's called Mod Blue because it was part of a set of colors that were 60s & 70s inspired. There was a Mod Green too. The pattern book that went with it really showcased all of yarns well and the color names made complete sense.
LOVE JAYDA I LEARNED HOW TO CROCHET MADE SO MANY OF HER PROJECTS, BAG O DAY ALSO LEARNED FROM HER ALSO MY MAIN TEACHERS. ALSO MELANIE HAM WHO HAS PASSED AWAY
Yup, I too have the spring blahs. That blueberry and chalky blue colors are hilarious. Haha! Right on! We all feel that way. Yes, please do a junky fun washcloth live. I’m totally game! ❤
I make dishcloths when I have the blahs I discovered your UA-cam channel ❤ when I wanted to learn simple crochet for a dishcloth😊 Black cotton I have not seen any WOW!!
I know right, the black is hard to find & so useful. I got a bunch at Spinrite on my 1st trip back in 2017 in a larger 142g format called Handicrafter delux. Then I tried a different brand in my only Herrschners on-line order in 2021 & I’m almost out of that now. I haven’t been reaching for my cotton too much lately but as soon as the weather warms up I know I will be. Thanks for sharing. 🧶💜🤗
I think the blueberries is more cornflower or maybe delft blue. Dishcloths are a good idea when you don't know what to make but I typically do granny squares with scrap yarn then.
That purple one if I'm hearing you correctly is translated to magical purple. Right now I'm on a cotton craze. Bought the K & C a 100% cotton, it's a # 3. It's so soft. I want to say I found it at Joanns. I have yet to crochet or knit with it but I'm hoping it doesn't split a lot like Lionbrand's Truboo or Coboo. Happy crocheting/ knitting or whatever floats your boat.
This video came up just when I was looking for a little inspiration to get my crojo back. I'm wondering if a vinegar soak would help to set the dyes before washing. I know when quilting that is suggested for some fabrics. I may have to experiment.
Hi Jamie, that's a very intriguing, and honestly, super smart idea. I hadn't come across that yet, but cotton is cotton whether we're quilting with it or crocheting with it! I might give that a try to see if it works. Thank you for the suggestion!
Hi Jayda! I knew I had at least ONE cone of cotton yarn here & I found it today. Found it just before you posted this…I must have been feeling the cotton yarn vibes from Ontario! 😂 I found Peaches & Cream in a minty light green that matches the Red Heart minty yarn I’m using for my granny squares! Sooooo, I guess I’ll be on a mint roll. 😂 I love Bernat Handicrafter cotton! Now I feel the need to hit a couple discount stores for yarn. I’m gonna make a soap sack because ours is really old & falling apart. 😮 And, since I have a whole cone of this, I’ll be making something for spring. I don’t know what…but something.
Love to also make pot holders or trivets with my workhorse cotton! However I have multiple dresser drawers filled with it so I am not allowing myself to buy anymore until I use some up!
You mention Christmas presents and last minute gifts. What about birthday? Everyone got one. Now to change the subject but your quilt blanket is there a way to do the wedding ring?🎉❤😊
Hi Suzy, there are a million reasons to have a make-ahead-stash 😁 Birthdays too! The wedding ring quilt concept might be best done via applique. I know some fabric quilts use the applique approach for the wedding ring style too.
I like to make dishcloths in between projects or when I’m bored and want something simple to crochet. You pick out some pretty cotton colors for dishcloths. 🧶💜🙏🏻
I always enjoy making dishcloths also. So handy just as you said for presents or yourself. Been on a face scrubby kick too. Using up my cotton stash of scraps. Always enjoy your videos.
This is great 😊 I have a ton of cotton I was going to make bathroom rugs with it but...... I got distracted and have been making baby blankets 😁 ❤ now I have a new project list 💘😁💙💜💗💚💛💜💞🖤
I really enjoyed your talk on cotton. I am just starting to use mine in stash. PS, Cinnamon Stitches suggested your site. I have definitely subscribed!
The vision of Violet looks like Monet to me no shades of purple to me love variegated yarn they are similar to Peaches and Cream yarn cotton to me Thanks for this video 📸📸 ❤ it , btw good score agree with your color names swirl
Interesting the names of the colours on the labels. Like the names you picked. Except Chalk Blue could be Porcelain Blue. Interestingly I just making coasters in baskets for Easter. Found some green and white striped in Bernat. It’s just called green 😂. My theory is the Colour names are chosen from a Bingo Ball machine loaded with colour names. Cotton also makes baby gifts. Bibs, hats beach shoes
I had a *LOT* of thoughts on the color names but can't remember them all 🤣 What I can remember is that I really don't know what they were thinking by making "Purple" the focal point... that has more blues than anything else... Okay, people, if you say so...
Hi Evelyn, the playlist (called Dishcloth Playlist) is linked in the description box below the video. You can also just type "Jayda InStitches Dishcloth" into the UA-cam search bar and all of them will pop up 😊
Are there any lacy pattern out there?I’m just not a fan of bulky heavy dishcloths,I have made a few dishcloths but end up throwing them away because they are to bulky.
Hi! We have an apron for our dish soap bottle, but our detergent bottles would be a little more difficult to fit an apron too (they're all mostly really large, oddly-shaped bottles with massive handles). That's a neat idea though!
Regarding the yarn that contains purple, I think about it from the other side. I'm not too fond of purple myself, and the purple element makes the whole yarn fall into the "purple" category in my eyes. The purple weft makes the yarn just purple and thus "unusable". :))) Important things, this! :))
Hi! I would unwind it completely and rewind it very loosely around the back of a kitchen chair. Then, slide it off the back of the chair and tie it in 3 places (with other scrap yarn) to keep it from unwinding and getting tangled. Then, hand wash it in cool water with a drop of soap. Rinse well. Then untie the ties and lay it flat to dry in as loose a way as possible on a towel.
Hi Julie, have you tried using a smaller hook in order to get the tension tighter without having to hold it tightly or hurt your hands? It might help if you wanted to try.
I love it. I have some cotton yarn and was gifted some sparkly gold thread yarn I use in making your hearts in thread as Healing hearts. Quote for the day: In every day, there are 1,440 minutes. Dish cloth yarn😂? I don't think so. I rather used them to make cool 😎 clothing 😊. Black licorice yarn 🥺ooooolala😊, beautiful. I would wash the completed black project either in vinegar or soda ash😊. I love mod blue🥰with black licorice 😊. Robin eggs blue, blueberry beauty 🥰 French blue with either black or navy🥰. Pinky stripes😁. In Spanish g next to an e, i, and y has an h sound like in Halifax. Gente (hayntay) means people👨👩👧👦👫.
Cotton is a great choice for clothing, but not so much this cotton, it's not "nice" enough and it pills easily when worn (having made some clothing from it before) so I prefer it for things like bags and cloths 😊
Hi! To be fair, I've only ever had a single white crocheted cloth get stained (used it in an emergency to mop up spilled coffee) but the rest of them don't show stains... if it's something you would worry about though, then the darker colours would be a great choice.
I am having a flashback to 25 years ago, when my best friend and I would talk about the yarn names and patterns, while we watched vhs recorded soap operas and crocheted dishcloths, and our kids were playing together outside or they were at school. 🥰☺️🤗

Flashback! I love that 💗
Thanks Jayda. Enjoyed this. Was having a can’t find what I just had in my hand sort of day.. miss placed my glasses, a left garden glove (found both) so instead of going to get my errands done. I’m working on my squares safely on the couch 😅
😂 I had an entire week of that!
Thanks, Jada for the wonderful video about these colors. I am totally blind and really appreciate the time taken to describe the colors. I haven’t had a lot of experience with this yarn, and your video has motivated me to pick some up and try it. Thanks again, and God bless.

What a find your mom made!
Dish clothes and hot pads are always my go to when I am bored of the larger projects I am making. They are awesome. I have given away so many of them. They are also my go to for road trips because they don't require lots yarn.
Yes! They travel well, another point for dishcloths!
The blue that you have that’s called blueberry, I call that Smurf. My favourite strip by handicrafter is called moon dance, it makes a beautiful dishcloth with the Suzette stitch.
Smurf. Perfect 😁
It's called Mod Blue because it was part of a set of colors that were 60s & 70s inspired. There was a Mod Green too. The pattern book that went with it really showcased all of yarns well and the color names made complete sense.
There was a set?! Cool! That would have been fun to see!
Crojo....omg i love that. It's in my vocab now haha
It's such a great term for that sense of crochet motivation!
I have been making kitchen towels trying to stock up and get ahead for Christmas presents. Thanks for the yarn review.
Great idea! Thank you for watching 😊

Hi Debra! I seldom find black cotton, so I had to grab a skein!
Yay CANADA 🇨🇦
I nominate Unicorn Birthday Party as the new name for the purple perk one 😁
I love that. Perfect!
Love your videos. Thank you Jayda. 😊❤

Yes I would have call them all swirls like the lemon colored one. Love the black licorice one.
I like themes, and swirl is a good name for the way the colour looks!
Hi Teerae, Peaches and Cream, yes, I think that's the other name this yarn is sold under (I'm fairly sure it's all the same) 😁
Fun video! Thanks.

I saw this and panicked: “it’s not Friday yet?! I’m not ready.” 😂 enjoyed the vid, especially the title. Thanks for sharing. 😄

HOBBY LOBBY HAS BLACK COTTON,THEIR BRAND
Blue and pink
Dishcloths are my fav to make in a crojo. Does this store ship? Have you been to Spinrite ?
Hi! Haven't been to Spinrite, it's QUITE the drive! This was just a discount store they don't have an online presence.
Sometimes they have FB online flash sales too (haven't been - I'm in Manitoba but ordered online)
Interesting the names of the colours on the labels. Like the names you picked. Except Chalk Blue could be Porcelain Blue. Interestingly I just making coasters in baskets for Easter.

LOL, I thought so too!
Trying to find one of your tutorials on dishcloths but can't find then. What are they under
Hi Evelyn, the playlist (called Dishcloth Playlist) is linked in the description box below the video.
Hi Shirley, plain sc, hdc or dc or little patterns like V-st or shell stitch are super. Plain, not too thick and they suds nicely 😊
CITRUS SWIRL,TANGERINE SWIRL
I like that! Tangerine swirl!
Have you made an apron for your detergent bottle?
Hi! We have an apron for our dish soap bottle, but our detergent bottles would be a little more difficult to fit an apron too (they're all mostly really large, oddly-shaped bottles with massive handles). That's a neat idea though!
You could do a really pretty gradient dishcloth.❤❤❤
totally!

Hi Vivi! Ahha! So, if you say "purple" than one might see the purple more than the other colours. Good point!
The title of this video.😂😂
Love it!
😁
I think the purple one looks more like the violet name.
I love dish clothes. I keep starting stuff make mistakes and rip stuff out. I call it crochet psychosis.
I rip stuff out all the time - especially if I'm bored with it!
Morado Majico= Purple Magic
University minor in Spanish. Major was Radio & TV Broadcasting. Pepperdine University, Malibu, California 1980-1984 ❤❤❤❤❤
Purple Magic! Ha! Ok thank you 😊
The Pinky Stripes should be named Sherbet
You know what I would have called that purple perk yarn? Sleepover.
Oh that's cute. I like that!
Marado magico is magical purple
Hi Cinnamon! Thank you for the translation 💗
How would you was a ball of yarn before the using in a project?
Hi! I would unwind it completely and rewind it very loosely around the back of a kitchen chair. Then, slide it off the back of the chair and tie it in 3 places (with other scrap yarn) to keep it from unwinding and getting tangled. Then, hand wash it in cool water with a drop of soap. You are my ideal 😮❤
Hi Debra 😁 Thank you for watching!
Handicrafter wrecks my hands...I def like to make clothes a bit tight to keep their shape.... It's too stiff for me..I have a bunch I can't use. 😔
Hi Julie, have you tried using a smaller hook in order to get the tension tighter without having to hold it tightly or hurt your hands? It might help if you wanted to try.
I'm making a hot pat using ecru in sugar and cream using my tunisian hooks
Lovely!!
Not sure but French Blue for the lavender in it.
Ahhh! Lavender in blue, that makes sense!
Depending on the lighting I thought it was dark blue
Hi Jayda.
Hi Diane!
Morado Ma-hee-koh Mah-tee-sah-doh. Translates to Magic purple variegated. 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
Bernat cotton is not the cotton on our racks in the stores..
We all have different things available to us depending on where we are. What sort of dishcloth cotton do you see most frequently?
❤❤❤❤❤❤
im glad im not the only one who does that with the color names LMAO
Some of them are a real head-scratcher 😂
