Watching you draw the pens....so enjoyable. It has opened up so many more possibilities watching you draw or paint such ordinary stuff. I painted a kleenex box with watercolor and it was so much FUN!!🤗 THANK YOU!
The upside of COVID...having met so many talented artists who inspire me and give me the courage to “try” thanks Sandi!! I save your videos to enjoy at the end of my quilting/sewing days do I can really enjoy them❤️ Thanks again for opening up your studio and making us all feel so welcomed✨xoE
hahaha sandi... I'm binge-watching your videos and you've just said you're not sure if we'd want to see you draw, or if we'd find it boring... um.... yes more drawing please! :-) can't get enough of your work at the moment!
I wish I had filmed the making of it too but we were on a camping trip and I decided not to bring my camera equipment - I was TRYING to do a light camping trip - which really never happens - but I DID at least leave camera gear at home.
So many ideas for my sketchbooks! I lovveee the pens and glues so much! My favorite everyday things to draw, apart from bottles, cans, mugs etc., are my fountain pens. They are really interesting and sometimes complicated but in fun ways. A great exercise in just looking carefully at something.
I love your videos and have binge watched them day and night you were great company all night thank you. I so love how natural you are and so optimistic I love it thank you xx
That pop up drawing of the camper is sooooo cool! I love it! You’re so funny Sandy. I was laughing at the drawing and just your personality all around. I’m glad I watched this soon after I got my notification. I hope you’re having a good week!
I loved your Camper Van sketch! The glue bottles and pens looked like so much fun, I must give them a try. I LOVE how you scraped the face and re-drew over the top! I really like the sound of the scrapping 😆 💕
I'm glad you enjoy that because this Friday's video is obnoxious in how much fun I'm having - but hopefully it will give you guys some laughs. Grady was a little shocked by it :)!
Thanks Sandi, enjoyed the idea of drawing your pens and pencils. It would be a great way to get connected with what’s in all those jars! Have a great week. 🌈
I enjoyed your video so much, thank you for sharing. It’s fun and educational to watch your process and listen to you reasoning why you do things. I’m talking out loud what I need to do on a project I’m working on and it really helps to work it out. Glad you’re back to painting 🧑🏼🎨 and feeling better. Have a great weekend. ~Fran
Haha watching this I thought you said blue bottles! And I was like oh cool! Those are really interesting little sea creatures, then you started painting glue and I thought ok interesting choice for warming up…. And then I only clicked 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
What fun doing the simple things in life. I have never used my neocolors like just ordinary crayons but I like the way it looks. Kind of between a crayon and an oil stick. Awesome.
Hi Sandi! Love love love to watch you paint/draw, it’s never boring. I’m inspired to give my markers a go in my sketchbook and draw so of my art supplies too!
I loved the video Sandi.I have a problem with a dual personality, sometimes I draw and paint really tight and meticulous and sometimes loose. Its great to see and hear your process. I get such inspiration from it. Thank you
So you glad you find this to be a place of inspiration Gaye!!! I use to go back and forth more than I do now between loose and tight - I mainly stay loose but every now and then... it creeps in
I love the idea of kind of contour drawing my art supplies. It seems like such a fun sketchbooj page. Same with the different adhesives. Differently have to try that once I finish my 100 birds drawing challenge. I'm 8 days in and up to 53 birds. It's a great way to make sure I dedicate time to my art each day, especially when I don't know what to draw.
I bought some vinyl paint thanks to you and I love them so much. I bought the flashe paints and mostly maimeri polycolor paints. I might buy some acrylic inks in the future too.
Love that you use the pentel (sp?) oil pastels...when I was in college, a poooor art major, I was so happy to find them because they were so cheap but actually pretty good! To this day I always have a set!
Sandi have you heard of Golden's new SoFlat? They're self leveling and matte acrylics, of course. Not sure they'd be your thing since I'm sure you prefer some texture, but just thought I'd ask for your thoughts on it if you've heard.
Sarah - YES!! A lot of you guys have been messaging me about them and I reached out to Golden and they're going to send me some to try!!! whoohooo - I can't wait. And of course I'll share what I think about them with you guys.
Super fun video, Sandi. I love the camper thingie and i always love your faces. I have 2 questions but right now i can only think of one. Early on in the video you sprayed your tray of paints. Were those the golden matte acrylics? Thanks again !
Thank you Judy - I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Hit me with the other comment when you think of it but as far as the sprayed tray - yes, it was my golden matte acrylics and I was just spraying them with water.
@@sandihester the acrylics aren't water soluble but i guess spraying them softens them some ? ? i still can't remember my second question so here's my third : on the green wall behind you ( i think that's your living room ) is a really cool painting with a star and what looks like maybe a whale ? Did you do that? I really love it.
@@judykeathley7094 I slay the acrylics to keep them wet and to keep them from drying on my palette. No, that’s not a painting by me - it’s a really really old German school chart.
@@sandihester Thanks Sandi. For some reason i thought the paint had already dried out and you were bringing it back to life like you might with gouache. . Now i get it.
I use the Stillman & Birn sketchbooks. I usually have a link in the description of my videos to them but I don't think I do in this one - but I should have a link in other videos.
GOOD STUFF! Maya Angelou was also one to remind us that beginning again is important 💙 BTW Have you checked out the Urban Sketchers UA-cam live streams? USkTalks/ Season Two
So true! I am familiar with Urban Sketchers but haven't watched them in a long time - I don't have as much time now that I'm making so many videos of my own now but I'll check them out! Thank you!
Lol. I see. I thought you collaborated with someone and came up with challenges. Was just wondering because I’ve been recently inspired by your videos and thought you ‘threw out’ challenges to your audience. You have some really great ideas.

They ARE A TON of fun!!! I do forget that you guys are here for art :). I just don't want to bore yall. Thank you about the faces!
The fun in your art really reignites my joy for painting and just going wonky and play! I get itchy with excitement from watching your videos 🦋

Interesting. In the beginning you said that you always do multiple layers: acrylic, guache and flashe. Could you tell more about these 3 layers? 😘😘😘😘😘
I just add layers because the first couple of layers are a bit transparent and by adding more layers you intensify the color
