  • Found condenser fan motor not running. It was basically an X-13 condenser fan motor, with a remote module. I made sure it was getting voltage, and a call. Then we replaced it. #hvac #hvaclife #rheem #ECM

    GJ on that change out! That disconnect box has probably spent its lifetime trying to escape the horrors heard from that backwoods house and looks like it has almost succeeded.

    That road reminded me of a video I watched on a relatively new channel talking about how the further you, the customer, live from a city with lots of supply houses, the harder you want to think before going with a variable speed system that can't be repaired with jellybean(common) parts off the truck. He considered an hour or two to advise against a OEM part only system and in favor of a basic system. Not to mention EC motors and inverter boards are far to sensitive for rural power quality.

    That is no longer a rain tight disconnect . Rube Goldberg must have installed it. Lucky for him you found the right motor and module. Great video . Looks like central Florida when I first opened my A/c and electrical business in 1969. Lots of return trips for parts. Good job.

    17:00 keeping the impact driver on low setting, depending on volume of work, using a 2.0ah or 1.5ah drill battery would be preferable for an electrician. Unless of course the 6.0ah battery that came with the drill. What happens most of the time, the larger battery becomes cumbersome and unwieldy on the job site. So if it's feasible, invest in a smaller battery pack.
    Or, in my case, a Makita DF001DW 3.6V drill. It works so well on HVAC jobs. Low RPMs and torque. It's got a flexible handle that fits so well in tight spaces in a furnace. If your lucky, $35 bucks on sale at the local H Depot.

    I have a question from a noob. I have a ecm 2.5 16 pin only using 4 on a marvair. The wires rubbed out and took out motor. The signal wires go to a variable speed controller that is fed by one set of 24v wires that come on when the systems Siemens controller calls for G. The VSC is manually controlled and is set to max from the factory. I want to use a fan relay with a 24v coil to power a 3 speed motor (only using high speed). A) is it ok to feed one leg of constant power to the motor (power is 240) and break the other with the relay? If so does it matter which one I break hot or common ? The motor says white is common and speed is connected to black which would be my black. Break common or speed (line). Thanks and thanks for your continued influx of material. I learn more everyday.

    • @moonlightacmaintenance3232
      @moonlightacmaintenance3232 2 роки тому

      Or I guess I can just use a contactor and break both legs. I guess with the relay it would basically be wired like a single pole with a shunt? Either way probably would work?

    The video is good, but to remove the blade using a wrench is not ideal, a 1/2 drive and socket is more efficient and having a 19 thousand socket and the drill makes it efficient to remove the blade and hold the extractor with the spanner. Otherwise the video is very good.

      Gotta be careful with that method as well. Just make damn sure the stub that pushes down on the motor shaft sits on the shaft nice and center. If it was to get to the edge of the shaft, itll goober the shaft and the hub and your screwed. I know from experience, a coworker used my puller and somehow bent that stub and when I had to pull a blade I didn’t know it and ruined a perfectly good blade.
