When i get a hold of it now i get a hold of it... I just need to make it consistent. Number 1 problem: A long swing Number 2: Sometimes- Pulling off the ball (which might be causing the long swing) Number 3: Inconsistent feet stance Number 4: What to do with the bat after i hit the ball Number 5: Driving out of the batters box correctly
I’ve been looking for this advice for a while now. My 14 year old son pulls off in a terrible way. His hand/eye coordination is good enough to continuously make contact, but doesn’t square very many up. My question is, do you have a more detailed video with drills that will fix this?
Thanks for this video. As a former college player and now intermittent coach, this may be the first time I have watched this explained in a way that I can now share better with my players. From reading Ted Williams book years ago till now, all the materials and clinics I have gone to have never really made something all good hitters do so simple to see. Thank you.
Matt, this is your best video.............you are so spot on and I really don't hear people talking about this...........I teach my son about posture and spine angle and he's only 8.............amazing hitter already.............his "death move" or "out maker" is when his first move is a slight step open which makes him pop up and bring his torso with the step.............then he's an out.......great video!
II been watching this vid fort a year and im just now getting it.hitting 80 balls of a tee b4 going out today I think im finally doing it correctly. exactly what I needed Coach. many thanks and MUCH RESPECT
Your videos are great. This summer I was swinging down and I batted .240 but this fall ball I already have 3 homeruns and 6 doubles. I really wonder why coaches started thinking swing down all you can do is groundout or hit an infield fly
Love your stuff Matt. Like that explanation. I tell the guys the back side push's the front out of the way. The way you explain it makes me wonder if you think there is a flaw in that thought process?
Hey, Matt. I recently changed my swing from a standing up pushing style. I was standing up straight with no bend in my back whatsoever. This video helped a ton. However, I do have a couple questions. Is there a minimum amount of bend you want in your back, or a maximum? Thank you, and keep up the great work!

Great description! Can you address casting your hands and staying balanced after the swing? and correlate this to how it ties into staying through the ball?
I like the word usage. I think most coaches just don't know what word to use to help the batter out other than keep your shoulder closed. But that makes perfect sense and using that word in practice will help with better adjustments in the game.
Am I right that the other thing you're doing (I think), on top of maintaining posture/spine angle/an athletic stance, is stabilizing your front hip so that your back hip pivots "inside" the front hip. Some people argue for pivoting on the center of the body and some for pivoting off the front him, but the sense I'm getting here is that the proper posture really helps take care of that, either way.
I saw your vid on how to get into a good college, and i was wondering, can amazing heart, passion, and amazing effort, as well as being above average, get you to college?
As a Boston guy, could you do a video on Benintendi's swing? It's gotten a lot of praise (recently from Wade Boggs), and it seems to be working well for him. Thanks!
Great Video! can it be a flexibility thing for some not being able to side bend or tilt? Any good drills to fix or work on this. Also are there some guys like Darryl Strawberry that did something else to stay on the low pitches? Just curious what you think.
What are some good drills to help youth hitters to stay down over the plate and low into their stance? My 9 year old is coming up out of his stance and flying off. How do I fix this? Please help!!! I have tried the seated bucket drill, bottom hand and top hand drills.
My 7 year old recently started doing this after getting hit in the eye. Are there any drills that he can do to help him with keeping his head in? He has also started stepping out away from the plate. Left handed hitter.
Matt - you're just a tease. This whole video was like watching someone about to sneeze watching him get so close to hitting the ball but never hitting it was driving me nuts.
Hey Matt. Love the videos! Quick question... My friend's daughter is 13 and plays fast pitch. She is good, great hand eye. He had to correct a mechanical flaw as she would step back from her stance and THAN start her stride. Fixed that but now she is late on everything, as her timing is off because of the step back. Her coaches want her to pull the ball every swing, even on outside pitches. (I guess they think it will help her with timing if she is early) Her father and I told her to hit it where it's pitched (get her hands in on inside pitches, try and stay up the middle on the outside pitches). In your opinion, are they correct with trying to make here a pull hitter just because she has to almost relearn her swing? Thanks and any input would be great. I would stop by one of your practice and ask, but I live on the coast of Washington. Go Mariners.
Hola Matt! Como estas? Question: I am helping coach a team, this year for the first time, and I find that 99.9% of the youngsters (13-14 year olds) have this problem. It doesn't matter if you place the tee one foot outside, they still manage to pull that ball and hit a week grounder on the left side. I even tell them while working with the tee not to open their hips so much, which is kind of what you are mentioning regarding posture especially while hitting to the right side. Once I told a couple of them not to open the hips so much they are doing a bit better. I realize that getting the lower half involved is important. Do you think that not turning the hips as much, which doesnt mean to isolate it completely, is counterproductive? Thanks
Yes I think most players just try to rotate their hips, which causes their upper half to open up and they are around the ball. I have a video on tilting not turning that talks a bit about it. Good luck to your guys! Thanks for watching and commenting!
My 13 yo son starts with nice 45 degree bat angle but as he strides, his hands drops to side of his body and causes bat to become vertical, almost straight up and down. More evident when starts his loading process too early. Any thoughts on how to correct this problem? Drills,....?
I would just stride and pull back hundreds of times until I learned how to do It properly. Doesn't even have to swing. Just get into the position you want and work until he can get there without thinking about it. Good luck!!

butt out-chest over, I've always missed this point for about 6 months, and never realized IT IS the major issue of my swing, thank you !

Can u do a video on getting extension and getting as far as you can through the zone?
Sure thing! Thanks of watching!!

Clarified it massively. Thanks Mark!
II been watching this vid fort a year and im just now getting it.hitting 80 balls of a tee b4 going out today I think im finally doing it correctly. exactly what I needed Coach. many thanks and MUCH RESPECT
That makes sense. Whatever it takes to be comfortable and have hand control.
Your videos are great. This summer I was swinging down and I batted .240 but this fall ball I already have 3 homeruns and 6 doubles. I really wonder why coaches started thinking swing down all you can do is groundout or hit an infield fly
Thanks!!! And that is great!
Perfectly said this makes tons of sense.
I used this instruction for slow pitch softball and found excellent results...Thanks Matt
Awesome!!! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I wish I'd had a knowledgeable coach like you when I was a kid.
Thanks!!! Thanks of watching!!
Love your stuff Matt. Like that explanation. I tell the guys the back side push's the front out of the way. The way you explain it makes me wonder if you think there is a flaw in that thought process?
This is what I asked for thanks man LOVE your videos!!!

Thank you sir! Great advice and a easy fix the way you explain it.
Great job of breaking that down.
Thanks!
Thanks and great video and it really helped me out

This really makes sense. Any drills that can train this movement or are verbal cues what should help with this issue? Thanks Matt.
I have one really good one that we are going to use this winter at practice. I can try to put a video up here of it.

Can you do a video of pitching more accurate like to throw less balls and throw more strikes
I saw your vid on how to get into a good college, and i was wondering, can amazing heart, passion, and amazing effort, as well as being above average, get you to college?
For sure! Talent has a ton to do with it, but the other things help! Thanks of watching!!

No problem!!
Another great vid you sir are a stud
Thanks!! Thanks of watching!!
excellent
Thanks!!! Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
How do Major League hitters try to get out of a slump? Do they take more swings during BP, do a lot of cage work, hit off a tee, etc.?
They try to go opposite field...it keeps the head and hands in the zone longer.
Yes all of the above! Thanks of watching!!
Antonelli Baseball basically just maintain your eye level throughout the swing
Would coming out of posture cause you to hit flares to the second baseman as a right handed hitter?
Matt, do you think you could make a video of you hitting?
Great Video! can it be a flexibility thing for some not being able to side bend or tilt? Any good drills to fix or work on this. Also are there some guys like Darryl Strawberry that did something else to stay on the low pitches? Just curious what you think.
Can I send you video of my daughter's swing for advice.

She should just relearn hher swing instead of taking the retarded path of only hitting pull.
The outfield learn that and they'll just all sit at pull
Great video ty
Thanks!!! Thanks for watching!!
Nice
What can I do to get a player to fix her posture?
Hey coach I was wondering what do the hands do in the swing
I'll make a video! Thanks of watching!!
Would you say a closed stance helps to not pull off
Great vid
Thanks of watching!!
Hey Matt! I’m a 12 year old baseball player and I need help on keeping my head still when I swing. Any tips?
Tough to say without seeing it. Watch all our hitting videos that will definitely help!! Good luck to you!!!
I hit a lot of hard ground balls. Does this help with elevating the ball?
I'd watch our videos on turning the barrel and also on how to stop hitting ground balls. Thanks for watching and commenting! Good luck!
Does this work with stepping out
Depends how much you step out. If you do too far, you will come out of posture for sure. Thanks of watching!!

How bad does it hurt getting hit with a 90+ mph pitch?
If you get it in a bad spot like elbow it can really hurt. Some don't hurt at all though. Thanks of watching!!
Antonelli Baseball thank you
When will the giveaway start?
Next few days probably. Good luck!
Antonelli Baseball AWESOME thanks for good luck I want a hat
We called it “stepping in the bucket” a looong time ago.
So what are we supposed to tell our coach?
What do you mean?
Antonelli Baseball When my coach keeps on telling me to keep my shoulder in. But it never works for me
How come it is more difficult for left handed batters to bat against left handed pitchers
Evan Turner harder to see the ball out of the pitchers hand
You don't see it much and the angle is also tough. Thanks of watching!!
after watching this i am 5-6 in my last 6 at bats
problem is pulling the hips out to fast
Yay I'm the first comment
Thanks of watching!!
The only way this works is if you have 2 arms
