There's an alternate ending where you agree with the final boss. He sends you back in time (complete another random stage) then you need to do the final stage again. If you manage this (and don't fall asleep...) you get another ending where you help him make a better world for everyone. Or something. Been a few years.
This is Metal Slug Parodius, all done by the same Data East team who did that weird Trio the Punch arcade game. This game is definitely as fun as it looks, especially with two people so you can swing each other around on the hooks.
It's a good play. Those who take videos with the emulator do not play decently. Since the difficulty level of this game is adjusted by playing, it is impossible to express interestingness as a game in such miscellaneous play. Your play is serious about the game. This is very important.
Me and my brother saw this game at the arcade recently, we thought the game's name was funny so we decided to play it. But actually, the gameplay was so fun! My brother swapped out so my friend could play and we had to see the ending. The two player mode is fun because you can pick up your friend with the hook and they can still use their vehicle and shoot haha

I'd say if Parodius is a parody (redundant, I know) of Gradius, this may well be one of WolfFang/Rohga ArmofForce, what with using the pilot even after your battlecraft's down; tho it seems to be set in a steampunk setting instead of a hyperfuturist one. and @7:12, the cameo by Trio The Punch's Santos solidifies my hypothesis...and yess, we'll never forget you, Data East!

I'm emulating this in my Wii with Retroarch.
Has sound issues but it's playable.
Such an underrated hidden gem.
Emulec 4.3 has worked a lot of those issues.

This was a bizarre shmup from Data East. It's as if Metal Slug had a steampunk theme throughout, with airplanes no less!
Boogie Wings reminds me of Steel Empire for the Sega Genesis.
