I think the Biffo file edges it, even though there is a bit of a spot at mid range where it falls over somewhat and the handbrake release/application is a bit overzealous. I managed to shoehorn an EM1 in by filing down the chassis block 4mm, trimming the enclosure reinforcements and bonding the EM into the body, plus I squeezed 2 20x20 speakers in under the fan grilles rather than the usual fuel tank approach. The thrash is absolutely incredible, literally rattles any loose ballast out of the track. I might have to try the digitrains decoder with the same speaker setup, the biggest issue for me with the Biffo file is the weak sauce almost non existant turbo scream. The Digitrains startup just doesn't sit well with a 58 and it also lacks the turbo noise. To my ears, both of these files seem to have been recorded from a locomotives not running under any significant load...which sadly isn't going to be happening any time soon as there is nowhere really suitable to flog the nuts off one of the preserved examples with 1000+ tons in tow.
With regards to the turbo scream, have a listen to this one from 20:30. You can hear at around 20:55 the prime mover is at full rpm and pretty much sounding like both the Biffo and Digitrains files...then from 20:57 it sounds like it eats an HST as it gets loaded up and starts REALLY thrashing. Absolutely NONE of the current soundfiles even come close. ua-cam.com/video/TEQruW_vSRY/v-deo.html
I would like the Legomanbiffo one but it’s way too distorted, the first time I tried it I thought it was a faulty decoder or speaker, I tried loads of speakers and 2 decoders then realised it was in the sound file. I don’t like fitting it for people because it sounds like I’ve done something wrong

Sound alright, I think the Legomanbiffo file is better though. This one uses the same initial start up as the Class 60.

@@roadsandrails That's really interesting. To be honest I often prefer the Zimo chips because of the active braking.
@@tail_lamp7538 you can function map in active braking on F2
@@johnjmc Does it function exactly like the Zimo chips John? If so I've got a few ESU fitted locos that I could do with re-mapping. Chris
@@tail_lamp7538 yep 👍
