Jacob, I laughed when you said that, every time you pass the spot where the 'pink umbrella' lady was, Esper stops and looks around. Too funny! Yes, they have long memories...
A friend I had in Elementary School (Gabriel) had a Borzoi, we haven't seen each other since Elementary School and I am now 30 but I still remember how beautiful and majestic that dog was.
Esper seems to be sort of reserved energy-wise, now having Ora and seeing puppy behavior - do you find that Borzoi puppies are more or less energetic than other breeds?
Casey Edwards Ora is a puppy, so she’s got a lot of energy, but inevitably she will mellow out like Esper - my mom (who has had 9 Borzois) has always said they turn into furniture as they get older - they still require exercise everyday, but they chill out most other days
I've never really had a problem with - part of the reason I think is because I don't do activities that encourage it (coursing, etc...) and my girls are just kind "meh" on the whole idea
These videos are so amazing and informative! I just had a quick question, how do your Borzoi's respond to loud music? I'm hoping to get a borzoi in the future and just want to know if they are scared of it or seem more bothered. I don't blast my music every single day, but once in a while when I deep clean my home I like to listen to my music on high volume.
Esper can sleep through anything. Lol. Ora too. As long as they are appropriately acclimated to all types of loud noises as pups, they’re fine. That said, anything TOO loud can hurt any dog’s ears.
Borzoi are "Prey Driven." I have a small dog that is very sweet and weighs only 8 lbs. If I got a Borzoi as a puppy would it grow up to kill my little dog?
It is really dependent on the dog and at what age you get them. My two Zois LOVE smaller dogs, but they were raised with them. If you rescued an older dog with a strong prey drive, it would be a big concern, but if you are planning on getting a puppy, you could socialize them fairly easily to smaller dogs (animals, might be a challenge).
I love the video before i have seen it! A question, do you think A Borzoi like Esper could be some tupe of service dog? She seems very smart, and intelligent. You trained her very well!
I am not sure! I really want to get her approved to go into hospitals as a companion pup. I'm gonna start working on that in the next couple months, once Ora is situated.
Man I love your manners, I had a lady actually ask me just after a firetruck passed 'Who's walking who' When my dog froze in the nervous sit/I shall Not be moved. Not a stalker you're giving solid advice for any breed,I came here for the sight-hound tips, and Illinois for once Doesn't find LA flakey ...meant with respect

Interested to know at what times you feed Ora. And how many meals she gets a day
Annelien Verstraete Ora gets three meals a day as recommended by our vet, we feed one breakfast lunch and dinner: 7:30-8am, 12:30-1pm, 6:00-6:30pm.

Thank you!
High bred dogs seem to suffer from anxiety and nervousness more than the mixed breeds.
