1990s NYC... Plats (platform shoes) were all the craze. Us young, broke kids used to find flip flops and crazy glue them to the bottom of our Adidas shell toes, emulating what this man accompished. Their shop was one that you had no business going into unless you were willing to spend some real cash on a custom pair, and they would absolutely let you know that... Especially if you were a 15 year old-ish rave kid like I was. I feel like their shop moved though. I remember it looking different and being near Lafayette Street, but that was 30 years ago so my memory is probably messing with me. This guy is an unsung OG. Respect.
Yeah, they moved to Brooklyn. I went there about 5 years ago. The new place was much bigger yet still a disaster, mountains of rotting dirty shoes. I remember the old place being on St. Marks back in the mid 00s.
Repairing shoes is a dying art. The increasingly casual style of fashion and the general public's propensity for at home work means less high quality shoes and more lightweight sports shoes. Anyone repairing something instead of throwing it out to buy a new one will always have my respect.
I love this. My father was a cobbler and I had the pleasure of working with him every saturday and throughout the summers from the time I was 9 to 16. They’re a dying breed. Much respect.

@@thetrophysystem3697why? I knew all Motorhead and i don't think its impossible to know shoemaker.
I think the idea going on in the community that we could get a young Vesemir story is solid for the next saga as well.
This guy is legendary! So glad you did this video, he’s one of the best at what he does, & his attitude is just the cherry on top of his awesome work. If you ever get the chance, go check him out. You won’t regret it. 🙌👏👏👏
What's his name/business's name? Thanks!

This is ART! he's just a simple guy doing what he loves. Bagging a celebrity gig here and there but still completely modest. He's so wholesome and seems like a creative dude with a cool story.
East Village Shoe Repair!!! 🔥💯💯💯 LEGENDARY

I had a weed dealer like him. Such a genuine and free man.
lmfaoooo
His weed wasn't free tho!
@@uptopswag8446 actually man would roll a fat j for us to have before I left. At one stage it was like going to the barber shop. Stay and have a conversation about life and little things. Man even made his own LSD and would give me a free one regularly. I paid extra each time tho. Brought food and drinks he likes as well.
Was such a genuine person. He even lost his whole family and somehow managed to be a good person. It was unbelievable to me.

Respect.
Do you know his name or business name?

@@KaiCiDivinethe guy with the beard is named Boris. The other guy is Eugene. Found an article about their shop
Yeah, they moved to Brooklyn. I went there about 5 years ago. The new place was much bigger yet still a disaster, mountains of rotting dirty shoes. I remember the old place being on St. Marks back in the mid 00s.
Yeah they definitely had to have moved bc this shop looks a bit different than the first one
Repairing shoes is a dying art. The increasingly casual style of fashion and the general public's propensity for at home work means less high quality shoes and more lightweight sports shoes. Anyone repairing something instead of throwing it out to buy a new one will always have my respect.
Coworker looks like he's still stuck in a trip from 1989.. 💊😵💫😂😂

This needs to be a docuseries if not an entire movie. These guys are borderline cartoonish portrayals and one of the funniest dynamics i’ve ever seen.
