In twisting the hair, won't that make the hair to break off from the base? I once heard it does so I always tell my hairdresser to avoid it. Kindly throw more light

Hi Twisting your hair while threading will not break your hair, you are just twisting for you to have control over the placement of the hair.
When you twist while you thread you can put the hair in any position and it will stay.
It is just like twisting your natural hair after washing will it break your hair from the base no. It will just keep your hair stretch while protecting it.
