Engineer Engifar of course it does shithead, the manga was and still is one of the most influential, if not the most influential manga in japanese history
I thought it was scary 7 years ago because I didn't get it and it was random and kind of violent and just not Rhythm Heaven. After having watched/read most of JoJo, this is a vid I still go back to to see new references. Fantastically done.
Actually at this point there was the Stardust Crusaders OVA and the Lost Phantom Blood Movie. Niether were very accurate though. There was also a very faithful video game adaption of Golden Wind. Although Part 6 and 7 have yet to get adapted as of now, and part 2 and 4 weren't adapted at the time. Part 8 didn't even exist at the time.
Rhythm CM Evil bird with a stand called Pet Shop(I think that's it, been a while since part 3). It rips off the heads of two dogs and starts eating them while Iggy(little black and white dog) watches in horror. I guess this version's a little more tame, eh?
1:38 they got the insanely minute detail of inputting a single clap on Fan Club after the sudden transition off Lockstep. that always, always gets me! what a creative video.
It was actually pretty great. We had shitty scans and little content, but there were a few active forums, and plenty of Japanese Nico MAD's and the like to read. That's also around when we got our first true taste of Jojo animated with the OVA's (RIP PB film), and we also got the games (the ones that came to the States anyway) and constant updates of SO and SBR then. Granted, I got into the series at the tail end of that period (back in '07), and I didn't catch up to the series proper until just shy of '09, but from what I was able to glean, it was pretty great. I am still very glad for DP and their excellent work, and the fact that Araki's accomplished tons more as a creator, and in his series. I'm just really glad to see Jojo keep on trucking.
@@johnny_my_penls_is_small_but I did in have two friends who were into Jojo at the time, but neither of them got me into the series. While Jojo was indeed pretty niche in the States, at the time it had a dedicated following in countries where the manga was published regularly (Japan, of course, but also France, Italy, and even China). Jojo also had a lot of stuff that had been brought over to the States. It got much bigger in the U.S. after the anime, but it always had a decent presence online and among manga fans and clubs, and that's not getting into stuff abroad. The first thing I ever saw from Jojo was a clip from the Part 5 game (which never came to the states). I saw it, and I thought it looked pretty cool. I decided to get into the series (with some enormous misconceptions), and I looked up some things online. I didn't like reading manga at the time (normal books and comics only), so I decided to watch the OVA, which you're familar with. I watched the first episode of the 1993 iteration, and I was fucking confused. "What the fuck was that sacrifice?". "What the hell is up with that mask?". "Why does it turn you into a jacked bodybuilder?". "Who are these characters?". "Why are they in a desert?". "What are Stands?". "Who's DIO?". The 2003 OVA didn't help my confusion either, since it plays the ending of PB as it's intro. I decided to look up some more stuff, and I found the Jojo forum, as well as the fact that the OVA DOESN'T adapt the manga from the beginning. I thought that was the case, until I realized I was watching an adaptation of Part 3. I'm like: "What happened to Parts 1 and 2?". I looked up the manga, found some volumes of SC at my library (that was the only Part published in the States at the time), and I decided I'd read them online. I started reading from Part 1 (best part), got hooked, read through all the parts and chapters we had at the time, resumed both OVA's and when the PB anime came, I watched that as well as re-reading new, updated manga scans. Years later, I still love it to death.
