    Cool diy! I personally would run smoked corners or stock. I think the amber looks the best on darker paint colors

    First off, I appreciate anyone that is putting so much effort into helping the e46 M3 community. So thanks for that. I probably would have done this a little differently though, and my method would have taken more time. I would have first started by using a digital caliper to measure my gaps. Figured out the differences exactly. Then I would have taken off the entire bumper cover to truly inspect the underside and what factory materials were present and afffecting the gap. My assumption would be that the material on the right side would have been more compressed than the material on the left side (driver’s side). Upon a physical inspection, I could either confirm or deny this. Honestly, the foam you used appeared, at least in the video, to be thicker than the gap. I believe that extra thickness is what made it a little too snug when you reinstalled the corner light. Again, I’ve got the easier job of just guessing right now, without actually doing the work, but... I probably would have removed all of the factory insulation stripping from the bumper and replaced it all with something recommended by my body shop. And also affixed it in a more permanent way once I ensured my test fit gave me the final result I was looking for. I get that your attempt was a “quick and easy” fix, but you did end up breaking your OE corner light. And that is something I would wish to avoid. Also, if going to all this effort, I would expect a more exacting gap match at the end. And by not gluing the strips on place, you cannot ensure that they will stay exactly where you want them for the long haul. I think using those cheap standing mats was an inventive solution, but may have just been a cheap solution rather than the correct material. When it comes to preserving these icon e46 M3’s I would opt for factory fixes, even though they might require a bit more planning and expense. These cars are worth the extra effort. Thanks again for your videos and continuing to support this platform.

    Love the USDM AMBER CORNERS. The white corners cool, but I just dig the stock Amber corners on any car. Sick ass ride! I just got a 2000 E46 sedan. I work on Japanese and American cars for a living, and am learning a lot about bimmers with my own car. It’s nothing to brag about, but it had 100k miles when I bought it. I love that I can maintain it myself. Would love to upgrade someday to an E46 M3. Keep up the good work🍻

    There 'MUST' be a few millimetres of gap between the bumper and the headlights if you look at BMW TIS and that is due to the weather strip that is missing on your bumper which should stop dirt and water from going behind the bumper.. not too much sag.. the original carrier has foam on it but sag happens when people uninstall the bumper and strip the foam witout realizing it

    • @BimmerDude
      @BimmerDude  4 роки тому +2

      you know what your absolutely right. i dont think my car came with that strip but who know my car is 19 years old now lol. I think that strip would help with moisture getting under my vinyl wrap too hmm.. thanks man!

      @pilot709 4 роки тому +1

      @@BimmerDude from all thr people I know with E46 M3s maybe 1 of them (other then me haha) has that strip.. I wrote that comment because I spent so much time frustrating about that gap and after a lot of research I finally could get it.. I initially wanted to eliminate the gap totally bit then when I saw the strip and read BMW TIS I could get it right.. the foam idea is actually excellent..it actually is THE right thing to do as this is how it is supposed to be !.. I used a broken E46 M3 bumper foam holder to cut a few pieces and make ones to replace the ripped ones.. it was the only way I could get the exact same foam material.. glad I could help.. once you install the strip you will find the car even better looking and it will definitely protect the edge of the wrap !

    Go amber! Good idea with the foam. I think BMW actually had put some foam underneath the bumper skin from the factory but it basically evaporates over time.

    If you ever take the bumper off you can remove the foam & is raise the bumper bracket higher to mitigate have to hammer the corner light etc. Also I’m going from amber to clear tails if you’re interested in a trade. 😏

      The rear bumper carrier is adjustable from the inside of the trunk just release the 6 nuts and pull your bumper up then tighten them..and next to the wheels it has 2 small steel carriers so if you have them you shouldn't have any problems.. most of the times the bumper becomes detached so it sags
