Thank you for the wonderful class at MAC (Oct 2024). It's a fascinating process and I especially like the colors and textures that the salvage wire produces.
This is a fantastic tutorial. I love how you use found materials to make beautiful baskets. You really show many techniques and how versatile this technique is. Very nice. Thank you so much.
Wow 😳 AmAzInG 🤩 I LOVE this!!! So funky and creative! Where the heck did you get all of that awesome wire?! I need some!!! Thank you this fantastic video with this fabulous artist. I'm so inspired :-)
hi! i decided to go hunting for material, and after trial and error ive discovered a few tips: - regular two prong wires for appliances work well as a base wire, just split them apart into single wires - the back side of shopping centers, especially off of highway access roads, have lots of damaged scraps of heavy duty wire sitting around in piles. sometimes theres also wire directly on the side of the road. these tend to be very dirty so i coil them up and soak them in bleach for a while to disinfect before working with them - theres tons of old things at thrift stores full of wires, usually for dirt cheap. i would bleach them too first - drive around neighborhoods on your area's trash days and look for appliances, take them home and then smash them open with a sledgehammer or use a crowbar to pry them open. lots of different colors of wire inside. be careful of greasy moving parts, i would recommend using gloves and then bleaching anything from inside as well
this is amazing. it fits my aesthetic so much to make garbage into beautiful functional items instead of buying new things!

Wish I could find some of this good garbage!
Some artists consider it part of the fun! We've even heard of people pulling apart scrap microwaves! Hope you find some good stuff :)
