You wouldn't expect the same trick and Gi-Hun was all about protecting the players in the beginning of the season. His friend also gave a believable reason to his misgivings: "Maybe this place is getting to me" which, yes! It could just be the environment making him paranoid. I am saying it becomes obvious to _us_ because we are watching it from the pov of a show where there will be patterns and parallels. Gi-Hun has NO reason to believe that 001 could be a plant AGAIN. He is a man on a mission; for two years, he obsessed on taking down the Game and protecting the people. He isn't going to let an innocent die just because he is wearing the same number as the guy who screwed him over. P.S. A lot of people watching the show were surprised that 001 is the frontman despite the last guy with the same number being a kind of a plant AND the episode being titled "001". I feel like that’s the thing with the show overall- the setup is so over the top and unrealistic but that also gives it an easy excuse and “justification” for many holes in logic. And the result is fun so I guess it works
The just don't let anything that gives you advantage slide. Everything else the dont care. The drugs could either help him or kill him either way so for them it's just makes shit interesting.
I don't understand why this is a question. Firstly Gi Hun is actively looking to stop the games (and they know this) so he will be thoroughly searched. Other players will be searched to remove any item that will give any player an advantage. Drugs does not help you in the games... It might even hurt you and better still it will make hurt your fellow players

we all watched the Squid Game S2 in order, ep1 and ep2 and we all have gotten to know the stories in those episodes, the characters, their motivations, plans, and objectives, especially Gi-hun's. now at the beginning of ep3, when he woke up and he saw SeonNyo, the one bearing the number 044. this is symbolic of Gi-Hun staring death in the face, death was smiling back at Gi-Hun. And in fact, in that particular scene, Gi-Hun and death itself have become strange bedfellows. In many Asian cultures, 0 and 4 are both symbols for death. On another instance, Gi-Hun helping the guy 444 cross the finish line was not only a pay-it-forward salute for what Abdul Ali 199 did in S1, but again, also symbolic of what Gi-Hun in S2 was there for: Gi-Hun helping 444 cross the finish line was a message for all the dead that Gi-Hun will find justice, closure, and finish the job in behalf of all the fallen players. He wants to give them dignity.... but then again the death of 444 was a foreshadowing of S2 Ep7... Gi-Hun fails.
