How to Be a Cowgirl in Alberta

Cowboy culture has long been a part of Alberta's history--Calgary is home to the Calgary Stampede after all. Ranching is a dominant part of Alberta's culture as well so on my road trip, we had to make a stop at an outstanding working ranch, Sierra West. We stayed at this charming, historical styled ranch and got the chance to take horses out, learn about their maintenance and even participate in a barn supper with all the ranchhands. Luckily my first stop was at Lammle's in Calgary, where I got outfitted hat to boot in the finest cowgirl wear. Hey, I had to look the part if I was going to be a cowgirl for a week, am I right?

Sorry Kelly. But anyone can don the clothes and ride horses.. doesn't make them a cowboy or cowgirl. You've got to be born with the heart, soul and spirit of the cowboy. You've got to love and respect the West and the Code of the Cowboy. You have to be born with this, you can't just simply put on a cowboy hat and a pair of boots..

Buying some clothes and riding someone else horse with 3.5 miles per hour won`t make you cowgirl...I am really offended...Canadians EH!!! Leave that to our cowgirls from united states of A and do not hurt those horses with those spurs...do you even know what they are!!!
