Hey Nathan, I like the new iteration of your channel. I look forward to you showing Jennifer the total experience of Babymetal. I am happy you came back to share Babymetal.
Doki Doki Morning was released on DVD and CD by Sakura Gakuin heavymetal RECORDS on October 24, 2011. At that time, sumetal was 14 years old, moametal was 12 years old, and yuimetal was 12 years old. 80th place (Billboard Japan Top Independent Albums and Singles)
4:18 Reaction start _"Rin Rin Rin!_ 🦊🤘⏰ Yep, this is the song that started all this madness. And nope, that's not the Kami Band, that's the "baby-bones" and they don't play instruments either during MV and live performance.
Good reaction again and thanks for taking the time to read our comments too. Doki doki is onomatopoeic for a fast or excited heart beat. The song is about a girl waking up late and rushing to get ready for an exciting day at school with all her friends and covers the standard death and doom metal themes of what lip gloss to wear, getting her hair straight ... you know the sort of thing.🤘 The guys in skeleton suits were known as Babybones, they were staff members, actors or dancers probably, they were not musicians. There is a commentary video by the girls watching this and talking through their memories of making it and they were very pleased with themselves that they taught the Babybones the choreo so they could dance along in the video. 'Doki Doki Morning' was recorded at the end of October 2010 when Su was 12, Yui and Moa were 11 and they made their live stage debut with it in November 2010. The video was recorded nearly a year later. At this time they were just one of several sub-units of the Idol group Sakura Gakuin and there were zero expectations that they would be anything more than a short lived (and failed) experiment ... so the video was shot on a shoestring budget (they were in borrowed clothes, the babybones skeletons were white tape stuck onto black one piece suits). This and others of their earliest songs were on the Sakura Gakuin albums (released one a year) and were gathered together for inclusion on their own first album that was released in 2014.
This is actually well before the first album; this video was released on DVD in October 2011, but the song was recorded in 2010. This song actually featured on the Sakura Gakuin album Sakura Gakuin 2010 Nendo: Message (released April 2011), long before the Babymetal album actually came out in 2014. During these early days, Babymetal was just a subgroup of Sakura Gakuin and wasn't ever expected to be successful enough to become an independent act that would release their own albums, so their early songs featured on several Sakura Gakuin albums before they were later compiled along with some entirely new songs to make up the first album.
I don't know if 'just a subgroup of Sakura Gakuin' is correct. Babymetal was envisioned before Sakura Gakuin existed. They had to be the subgroup because they only had 3 girls. You can't have the main group with 3 girls and a subgroup with 10. That wouldn't make sense.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 💓 ⏰ Pretty much everything that followed was because the music video for this song unexpectedly blew up. They had a later viral tidal wave with the 'Gimme Chocolate!!' video, but this is what kicked it all off to begin with. At this point, BABYMETAL were the "Heavy Music Club" sub-unit of the school-themed Idol group Sakura Gakuin. There were other sub-units besides BABYMETAL at Sakura Gakuin that had more resources for costumes and video production, like the Twinklestars (Baton Club) that Yui and Moa were also a part of. This music video was a shoestring production, although I think they made it work, even with that small budget. Su's coat was borrowed from one of the Sakura Gakuin teachers. Moa's vest was borrowed from Yui, and Yui borrowed hers from fellow student Raura. The girls taught the skeleton dudes the dance moves themselves. This song is still a huge hit with fans when they play it live. It reminds us how far they've come. "After listening to it again, “BABYMETAL” feels very young overall, and SU-METAL’s voice was very cute, which is completely different from what it is now. All of our songs have evolved in live performances. When we’re feeling a bit nostalgic, we play the old CDs and imitate the way we used to sound as we sing along. SU-METAL is quite good at imitating her younger self (laughs)." - Moametal
