Does anyone else find this a bit suspicious? I have been caring for a feral colony for 9 years. Most abandoned cats are turned loose -- they're not curled up with relatively clean bedding and a toy in a relatively clean cat carrier. This looked staged to me. Either that, or the cat had been there only between a few hours and a few days.

@@InformationIsTheEdgeactually it is. If you have a pet ( cat or dog ) you know it’s like a child fully dependent on you for food ,comfort and security, So for you to know this and choose to throw it in the street with a freaking toy you’re not just cruel you’re a sadistic person, for example if you had a lion living in captivity all it’s life can you release it in the wild ?
Of course not and even if you tried to rehabilitate it , it will never be able to function in the wild next to an Alpha male lion and that goes for all wild animals and also pets. When we humans choose to change animals environment and destroy their god giving natural environment ( we really shouldn’t do this especially for wild animals) then we’re obligated to proved them with every care , comfort and support not to throw it away like that.
Sorry if you feel me to be a bit aggressive or if I wrote a lot of words but I love animals so much especially cats and acutely in my religion we have a woman who will go to literally hell just because she killed a cat indirectly and another who just will go to heaven because she saw a poor dog who was thirsty and she gave some water , again I am bit sensitive about these kind of matters so don’t be bothered with all that essay I wrote 😂😂

@@someoneeee95 Friend, I don't think you read my posts carefully enough. My point was that the clues of the opening sequence do not suggest cruelty to me in the way the OP suggests or that the person left the cat to be cruel. That simply doesn't not fit what we see. If they wanted to be cruel, why deliberately shield the carrier from the sun and weather? Why care to leave a toy behind? Why make so certain to place the cat in a high foot-traffic area guaranteed to be used by pet friendly people? Why make certain to remove the door so the cat cannot get itself stuck inside by accident? I'm sure cruelty did not motivate the person that left that cat behind. And despite your assertions to the opposite, cats are not infants and are fully capable of acquiring any of the more than 2,000 different prey species to sustain itself when they are as young as 6 weeks of age. You see cruelty and I see a tearful, loving and reluctant goodbye.

They most likely gave her a mild sedative to calm her. Cats who are as worked up as she was, can not only cause serious injury to vet / techs but to themself when injecting. Vets know they won't learn to trust that fast & don't expect them to. In addition to everything, it's dangerous for a cat to be in heightened state of arousal as they can't expell heat like dogs do by panting. If they start to pant & it's extremely dangerous to leave them like that. So they just cut to chase & inject with mild sedative.

Sentient is taking it too far. Humans are the only species so far that we know of that is sentient. Sentience means being able to have abstract thoughts, being able to plan in advance, be aware of yourself and others around you. Most animals are just aware of things like food and other needs like sleep or reproduction, and using the term aware is still taking it too far as most of these things are just reflexes/instincts. Being able to use tools to achieve goals and survive is a good example of sentience and awareness. Pets have shown to have emotions and release the same chemicals our brain and body does to certain stimuli, but that doesn't make them sentient. If they were, we would be able to have full on conversations with our pets. @@ShikokuFoodForest

If the owner was no longer able to care for the cat due to medical or financial issues, they could have taken her to a local shelter. That would have been the humane thing to do. Thankfully, she was found and is in a loving environment, hopefully for the rest of her life. I lost my cat, Marbles, to cancer almost two months ago, and I miss her terribly. Her ashes are sitting on the top of her cat tree, and I taped a large printed copy of my favourite photo of her to the front of the tree right below her ashes. I speak to her daily, often in tears, and holding the box with her ashes to my chest at times gives me some comfort. I would adopt Melissa in a heartbeat if it were possible. My sweet fur baby also was a rescue, and when Marbles and I made eye contact at the shelter, I felt the soul connection. I loved her so much.❤️😭

How terrified was she; I can't understand how anyone could do that to a helpless animal. YOU are kindred spirit! I am a cat fanatic and how I wish I had a cat tree like yours. You are an incredible, fabulous,
thoughtful and lovingly kind person! At 67 I now only have one cat, PETEY, who had been found somewhere and brought to the ASPCA. Estimated between 6 to 8 yrs. old, a grey tabby,
he grabbed my heart as he turned and dipped his head and flopped against the metal grate on his cage, meowing loudly, which I now call the "Petey Flop." He does this regularly! He has a very sweet and kind personality, just as the tech said he did. And he's HUGE. Not fat, just a very large bone structure, and quite long! Thank you for sharing your beautiful story of 3 very lucky cats, and one extremely wonderful woman!

But Tim is right, cats need their boundaries respected, or they get stressed or even aggressive, coz they feel pressured. They see u as being respectful and calm, and so they like u. Ive always felt with all animals, not just cats, its best to let them get to know u, show urself as open and friendly and non-threatening, and give them the respect and the distance to feel comfortable, and they will come to u. And they will love u for it.

She’s a beautiful girl and I’m so happy that she’s getting the love she deserves. Whoever abandoned her in that dangerous place is a monster!

Such a beautiful cat and she must have been terrified in that carrier alone. You could tell she's experienced trauma and pain no animal should feel but this video is proof that very often all you really need is love and it will overcome all.

Melissa is simply stunning!!! And I adore Melissa singing as she is finally safe, protected and LOVED!!! There is nothing better than to hear a cat sing 🎶 🎵🎶. The happiness on full display for everyone to hear 😊.
