    Rob, I really like your videos, they make total sense and are simple and easy to relate to… driving today was excellent, putting needs a bit of work as ever… keep up the good work buddy… 👍🙏🏻

    Great video- keep them coming.

    The par 5 rule is bang on... ams it should be your lowest avg score of 3s and 4s and 5s your 4s will be your highest 😉

    Well done sir. Harder rules to perform than to say but they would help us all if we could make ourselves play to them. Don't take the chance unless its not just a chance. Can't tell you how many times on par 5s you could tee off with irons and still be on the green in 3, but we don't play that way. Thanks for the video

    • @Alan_Edwards
      @Alan_Edwards 2 роки тому

      So true. We tend to think of getting on the green in two on those par 5 holes. Just make a decent drive and decent 2nd shot so you are only a short chip shot away. So many ways to get better by thinking versus more practice - although nothing wrong with tons of practice either....as long as it's with a purpose.

    I've also just found out from Scott Fawcett that tiger is the only player in the history of the PGA tour to be under par accumulatively from the rough.

      hey bud - i have been there and sorry for jumping in but my best advice break your practice into two parts (a) sinking short shots - work on 3 ft, 4 ft and then 6. Part (b) work on distance so work on 10, 20 and 30 ft and practicing to get each of those within 2 ft from the hole and no 3 putts. Make a game of it and keep score to motivate. I got mine down from 40 to 33 on average.

      @@jamesheeney7451 Yep. Too many people I see at the range are practicing from 10 feet or more...the entire time. Versus putts under 6 feet where easy stroke gains can be had. I practice pacing from long distances not even hitting at a hole necessarily.

    Along the same lines as no three putts, no two chips. Get it on the green even if I put it 15 feet past the pin.

    Rule #1, Making par on par fives is almost same as making par on short par fours when you got atleast 220-275 yards... isn't it?

  • @Alan_Edwards

    I like this. I am trying to break 80, hopefully this year still, so I used this as the basis for my own list of Breaking 80 rules. Along with No 3 Putts and No Double Boggy's I added some things I know hurt me personally, No Duffed Shots, No Missed Putts Under 3 Feet, No High Risk Shots, Know Where to Miss, One Swing Thought. These are things I tend to forget about when playing. I try not to have any swing thoughts other than visualization\target when I am making a shot, but I sometimes start thinking of all the things I have been working on in practice which usually has negative results - so I limit it to one. I made a list on my phone so I can reference it before a round. Really liking your content lately brother.

    • @Alan_Edwards
      @Alan_Edwards 2 роки тому

      @@RobMcGarr Best short putting tip I ever got that helped me tremendously is to put five balls in a circle around the hole at a putters length. The goal is to make 20 in a row. If you miss, you start over. As you get better you can increase the number by five. I also limit it to 30 minutes then move on. Once you get 20 you move to 6 feet and try for 6 out of 10 three times. I am so much more confident in those 3 foot putts now. Gives you a target to shoot for when you chip too.

  • @keny46
    @keny46 2 роки тому +3

    You'll find the better you get the more uneventful your rounds typically are. You still want to hit aggressive shots but not one's that will lead to big numbers. Instead of hitting driver all day I'm hitting long irons with wedges into greens and mostly 2 putting. Keeping it in play off The tee is huge and if your game from 150yards and in is solid 70s rounds are bound to happen.
