  • Loading the International 4300 with some asphalt with the E45. We were taking out the asphalt because we are redoing the driveway with pavers.

    Nice work clean and simple and not digging up the ground under the pile drives me crazy when people do that they leave a 3 foot crater where the pile was for no reason

    The operator was doing a good job, however he never used the thumb, which I always use when loading. Welding a plate across your thumb can make it more effective. It is also a good idea to weld another protective plate near the bottom of the thumb cylinder, because the hydraulic inlet is very vulnerable. I carry two thumb cylinders for this very reason. Normally I will break load and haul out about 1000 tonnes per year of mostly concrete, but I do asphalt as well. Hopefully my two cents worth has some value to you.

    im looking to purchase an e45, cat 304, or kx040. i noticed you've gone to cat now... were the bobcats reliable enough? because they are thousands less expensive. thanks for your videos btw, i always enjoy them.

      +Elijah harp Thanks for watching. Bobcat makes a decent mini-ex. We did have some quality issues with ours and thats one reason we switched to Cat. Knowing what I know now, If it was me id go with the 304. But thats just my opinion.

      +Elijah harp Try each for a day or so before you spend that much money. I found the Cat 304 to feel weak and the drive sticks are so stiff that it was very hard to get full function when using my feet to drive/maneuver. The kx040 fits through narrower access points and runs circles around the cat IMO. I ended up with a bobcat e42 but have already had to replace the hyd pump and now hear a murmur in the (doosan) motor.

      I just received my kx040 w / 6 way blade. I plan to post some videos. Only 7 hours on it now, but I'm impressed so far. I'm used to renting both a wacker neuson 38z and a komatsu pc60. This machine obviously outdigs & outreaches the 38z, but it also doesn't feel incredibly underpowered compared to the pc60. It's a pretty good compromise between the two.

      At a gravel pit. Yes they grind it up and use it as road base.

    This may be a stupid question but why on most medium dump trucks used for landscaping why do they have the dump bed with side walls only half the height of a average one?

    • @DirtNinja
      @DirtNinja  10 років тому

      Generally these size trucks cant haul to, too much weight so Its really useless to have the sideboards higher. I have seen a few trucks this size that are used for mulch with much higher sideboards.
