What a hip, badass white boy. His playing is just so perfect. I watch his performance at the Modern Drummer Festival again and again. His breakbeats are so innovative. So inspiring, even to older jazz and funk players.
Great Video and info about Tam Starclassic Bubinga and Starphonic. This video is a deciding factor for me to get the Bubinga instead of the Bubinga/Birch.
I was just going to say something about his PitchBlack hats, scrolled down and saw by the top comment, that I wasn't the first person to notice that. Although I absolutely hate those hats, I respect him for using them instead of going for some high-class cymbals just to keep up some sort of image.
I really like the older Starclassic badge that's just painted on. It's like a nice little stamp on the drums instead of the usual metal plate or whatever screwed into the drums. But now it looks like it's changed to a little metal "Starclassic" attached to the shells (except for the Starclassic Bubinga Elites). Obviously it doesn't really matter, but I always liked the painted badge. ........I'll get over it.
Yeah I'm wondering the same thing as kakorik0: Starclassic Bubinga or Bubinga Elite? I think the "funk" kit is regular and the "jazz" kit is Elite, just based on the finishes. Looks like the funk kit's "Silver Snow Racing Stripe" and the jazz is "Natural Cordia".
How did you mic the kit? Starting with the room. Is it a "live Room" or dead? are you mic ing the toms or just the kick and snare. Lets see a sm57 and a beta kick. Right You learned how to play with your ears!!!

Awesome drums, bubinga totally delivers. I do think you are too indulgent with the use of the word "revolutionary" however, especially while mentioning ideas that Yamaha has already been using for several years.
Nothing was intended at all, but he is indeed a white man. Most funk drummers in the past have been African-American, funky rhythms started in New Orleans and were perfected by mostly black drummers with James Brown, but of course there is Dave Garibaldi, Stanton Moore, a couple of others.

i really like his playing with the jazz set up
Adam rocks ! I love the way he play the drums !
Skills! Nice looking kit too,,, love that finish. Bubes sound killer. Good work!
Badass my fellow TAMA player! EXCELLENT TASTY PLAYING! And I just got the Walnut/Birch Starclassic set with Piano Black finish and TAMA is great!
I love the groove and its good to see someone play kinda like a gospel drummer.
Adam could be using my wife's pots, pans, and plates from our kitchen and still be one of the top percussionists in the GALAXY.... Freakin' WORD...
man, the groove he plays at 6:23 ... this few seconds make me dance!!!! yeah!!! :D
Great sound and feel!

Both of the kits he is playing are exactly what I have been looking for in a drum set! I am so stoked! Now I just need $3k to get one......
$3k in good old days 12 years ago. If it were still in production nowadays probably $6K
Actually, the pitch black hats (especially the soudwaves) are pretty decent compared to the other pitch blacks, crashes, rides etc.
They sound great to me. My favorite ride cymbal is the Paiste 21" Alpha groove ride :-)

@whygovideo thanks for the tip! i think i'll have to get this album! :)
My sub is overloading my brains with bass
It looks like he has some stock tama heads on there. I believe they are made by evans, so probably a G1 batter and Hazy 200 on the snare side.
the pitch blacks are the best part of the series

That 18" Bass is down right nasty (in a good way)
Bernard Purdie at 8:07! Ha what a groove
@sirgraig He play this groove in John Scofield´s Überjam. The 2nd track I think. Awesome album.Enjoy!
I have the same snare and I play hard rock...if you tune it lower it's perfect...
Somebody knows which kinda hi hats is he using when he plays the second kit? the bebop kit.
Omni-Tune is sickkkk!
the difference is as follows.....one is made from bubinga, one is birch and bubinga and the other is made from maple. Hope that helps.
7:40 any idea what that ride is? Beautiful sound on the whole kit!
+Desperanto Ziljian Konstantinople
Yeah ride side ride?
Anyone know what the track is at 2:41 ?
@tamadrums101 it is a small towl for dampening.
In the UK, it's spelt aluminium.
In the US, it's spelled aluminum.
Do you have any comments on the content of the video?

Does anyone know which heads he uses on his snare? (top and bottom) I know it's Evans but not which type
what snare is he using on the "jazz kit"?
first thing I thought when the vid started was "those hihats sound like shit". Adam Deitch is fucking sick though.
What is the finish on the "Jazz" kit. Natural Cordia?
I got this snare for 350€ and imma bout to hit it right now
i mean....either way its gonna sound good comin from adam deitch
how much would a jazz kit like that go for?
550 for a 18 x 24 inch kick what do you think is that a good deal...
Is that tama starclassic bubinga regular?
nice
@JerryBeatFreak Ok?

@TheLametrain Maybe even more :P haha.
what songs is he playing to?
@TomTittyBangBang91 lol good call!
What ride is he playing ?
@1HoneHeke1 :)
Look if hes using pitch black hats so what if he likes the sound and is happy with them then who cares?

Don’t forget Pete ray biggins. Also a great great funk drummer, also a Tama artist. His tamtam festival performance was amazing.
why you bringing dude's race into this?
Name more bands no one has heard of
@TomTittyBangBang91 Omni-tune looks gay!
Those are some whack ass band names. But he’s definitly a sick funky groovy drummer.
