If I've learned one thing by making this video it's that I really REALLY should stop hitting my space bar so hard! :) Thank you all for all the great comments, suggestions and questions! Episode two of this series is dropping tomorrow! 5/20/20
It must be a piano player thing I’m on my 3rd wireless Mac keyboard in 2 years they are thin and don’t require much force but I can’t help it I might switch to an off name compatible to save bread I do it subconsciously but I’m glad I’m not the only one
Hi Gav, I am a self-taught orchestral music enthusiast from China because I really enjoy the energy that orchestral music conveys. However, since I am an amateur without professional training, I really need a lot of video tutorials like yours to guide my learning. I have taught myself music theory and am now studying harmony. Although it is not easy, I find it very enjoyable. I have bypassed the internet restrictions to access UA-cam and found your video tutorials, which have been very beneficial. I have learned a lot from your videos. I am very excited and really appreciate that you take the time to create such free tutorials. I am 34 years old and do not have a stable job. Currently, I am learning to be a welder. I spend my spare time learning orchestral composition. I hope that one day, when I have a stable job and income, I can make some donations to support you (like paying tuition). I hope to have more communication with you. I wonder if you would be willing to do so. I hope you can reply and give me your contact information. Thank you again. As a Chinese person, I would like to bless you in the Chinese way: May God and Buddha bless you with peace and health.
@@wolfie8748 Music is the notes. Silence and space is a part of how the notes relate to each other. Such an annoying phrase. (citation: professional jazz musician and composer; me)
I love it at 00:32 when you stare off to the video on the right side of the screen!! That’s the look of pure accomplishment pride stoicism enthusiasm gratitude and and and PASSION!! Turn it into a Painting!!
I am currently sat in a 22 ton excavator at work, and it is another 8 1/2 hours until i get home , after watching this video i can not wait to get home and work on a project similar to this, SO INSPIRING MANY THANKS FOR THIS TUTORIAL, more please.
My problem has always been that I think too much... I overthink everything, I forget to make it about the love for music and think too much about the technicalities, then the fun get's drained out of it. This video reminded me to take it one step at a time. Start small, finish a small piece and put it out there already! It'll never be perfect, but nothing will get done if I don't accept the process as is and learn to put something mediocre out there, that's the only way I'll improve. Subscribed.
That was awesome! I have combined orchestral elements to my music (I play metal), but it has always been such a huge task that it required a different inspiration from me, a state of spirit that I was not always able to achieve easily. But the way you demonstrated, it became easier! Excellent job!
as i use YT to learn new subjects ....i am amazed at how much there is to learn. I thought i was doing good when i learned music theory early in life. somebody would have told me I would use sound effects to create an orchestra compliation. i would have called them a liar! good job.
Wow! I am sitting at my chair, long long past bedtime and I can't put this down. That shows how good this is. What started out as a project to take a 10min chamber score of Star Trek to a concert band has made my search wondering how I am supposed to do that? Although i do play horn, I am not a composer or arranger, but will figure out how this works. This was an excellent tutorial that has given me confidence in going ahead with it. SUBSRCIBED AND LIKED! HUGELY. Dave
Great post, fabulous tips and pointers for all newcomers to Orchestration. Of course the 10 minutes is a nod to the vid time not how quick you can do the arrangement.
Many thanks for sharing! A good way to gauge the quality of the content of a video is: the viewers don't feel that time is dragging; in other words, this video is so good that 13 minutes (plus) went by so fast. I take it that the 20 down votes (as at mid May 2020) are by people selling orchestral contents! Another sub added to your growing list. Once again, many thanks for sharing - excellent stuff
Oh my god! This might sound stupid for a lot of people here but I'm very impressed with the fact that I can make orchestrations without leaving my room. I started to use FL Studio few months ago to create pop/rock songs, and I'm still a beginner, but I'm just discovering and being impressed by the potential of creating music nowadays. To anyone reading this, do you have any idea how can I start learning to make music like in this video? (that beginners can follow, like this video) thanks
I dont know how to tell you this but i subscribed from the first moment I hope to see more videos like this one... This is the first time in this channel and in shaa allah (by god willing) its not gonna be the last
Nice and well explained tutorial, now I see one of my mistakes: I overdo sections, I add too much information in each instrument so it finally sounds too muddy and unreal. Thanks a bunch!!
Thank you for this training video. I've been searching for something like this for a long time. It's nice to hear each part separately so I can learn how to create my own orchestral composition.

Looking forward to that! I am very curious what instrument you're using for the bass and cellos. Thanks for the video
I do it too sir, a lot, it's a fun thing sir,
i have the same problem, i actually broke one key. Don't feel alone

1st thing I learned here too kkkkkkk

Simplicity is the key for many aspiring composers. Short intro tutorials are a treasure for beginners. Subscribed.
I struggle with making orchestral music because I always try to overcomplicate it.😐
so do I... :(
Music is not in the notes but the silence in between.
Don't try to write so much harmonies and etc. Maybe try writing less and simple as you can.

Honestly, same here.
Anyone wanna start a discord collab server so we can all work on a project?

when i was watching that part all i could think is how awkward and funny it is without editing

Hi! hope all is well, please keep loading videos, all of your videos are awesome! I watched all of them already, wish you a lot of success!!!
your step-by-step guidance has served as an excellent boost for my inquisitive mind, on how to dress up my music nicely too.

Excellent video, I love seeing how composers go from sketch to full arrangement. I’ve subscribed, I look forward to seeing more!
This is rock music transposed across to classical instruments. Same chords, same chugging rhythms, same simplicity. Sounds good!

I would like to say a big " THANK YOU'
