Great little video I do use something similar, which I got from fanciers when I was a kid and they used to use the water from boild vegetables from Sunday dinner's. I have learned overtime to add brewers yeast which adds the B complex of vitamins and lugols iodine 6% a couple of drops which is a trace element which is sadly depleted in the soils nowadays. I do understand that you put it on the food rather than the water and I understand your reasoning but I for ease after finding out it doesn't keep for long put the mixture into ice cube trays and drop the measured amount into the drinkers. Oh one other thing I learned is to use the rind from the lemon as its contains a large proportion of the vitamins and trace elements.
Really enjoyed it a man after my own thoughts.

Thanks for your comment Dave, I agree with everything you said and yes it doesn’t keep long, I only mix enough for one day. It is a good idea to freeze anything you have surplus. All the best with your 2023 season. Regards John

Yes this is what we originally did - we found if we made the juice thicker we had less waste & the birds were definitely eating it all in that day!

I used to put it in the water but I think they benefit from having it on their food, as in the water. It gets very diluted and at different times of the year, they drink more or less, depending on whether it’s hot or cold.

How long dos it last in the jars.
Good question mate. I make it up the day before I use it so it’s fresh. I’m sure it would be ok for a few days. If you make a big batch you could freeze it.
