The professor's suggestions might be a better way from transitioning from being #1. In reality, the philosopy of USA will only adjust after we are no longer #1 and we will be fine when/if that time arrives (like a world champion athlete with good sportsmanship). On another note, just because China doesn't spend as much as USA in regards to military (nuclear) and space exploration (mars) today doesn't mean they won't in the future. The Chinese are extremely strategic and do things in due time.
