- Опубліковано 5 лип 2021
- The Tiny Apartment Kitchen was in need of a ceiling lamp and I finally got my hands dirty making it! I used my new Avid CNC www.avidcnc.com and Vectric Aspire www.vectric.com to carve some pockets and grooves to hide the wires in the wooden base. Check out their UA-cam channels for tons of awesome videos related to CNCing.

Oh the trials and tribulations of wood working. Nice saves. Looks good.
BOOM is back!!!!
Top tip from an electrician. You can use the T-rex cable stripper to strip both inner wires at the same time.
Wow, really? how? :D
A pro should also reminded you that no copper should be visible
@@Danirio96 A pro should have mentioned, not to use blank flexible wires without wire-end sleeves in screwed terminals, because of the high risk of Fire.
A pro should have also mentioned, not to drill two wires together and put into one port of the wago clamp, instead use a clamp for 4 wires if needed.
And a Pro would have wondered about the useless installation of the PE-wire at the base plates of the lamp.
@@MucMaxx Maybe a pro would have also mentioned to connect the lamps in parallel by jumping with the cable from one lamp to the next, so that you only have a single set of wires at the wago clamps and could have used the cheaper ones for only 2 wires. (-;
@@chrishuhn5065 Yes this would certainly be the most efficient installation, i just wanted to emphasize that the most important thing when working with electricity is knowledge and safety. Electricity is the most dangerous domain for non professionals and they should never show (wrong) instructions on how to wire something in the AC installation of their house...
I wouldn't pay attention to any member of the Internet Safety Police. Having seen you videos from the beginning, your confidence with the equipment and your abilities have grown along with the projects. As long as you are comfortable with the equipment, the operations, the material factor, and your self-awareness then no one should comment. Almost every hobbyist on UA-cam has to endure comments from the Safety Whiners. I'm not sure how many of them actually know how to do what you do.
Agreed.
I also agree. Ignore the Safety Nazis.
I assume you're referring to the people mentioning her use of the table saw?
There are some comments on this video regarding the electrical fire hazard of how this is wired together. Since she DIY'd this and posted proof of it to UA-cam, if this were to catch fire and destroy her space, the insurance company would deny the claim and she would suffer a total loss.
@@thatguythatdoesstuff7448 Yes. I have no comment regarding the project itself, as many different codes apply based on region and materials. But I have no more patience for wannabe's who can't use a hammer yet are experts on using machinery. Any woodworker who has experience is going to find other ways to use equipment in relation to their experience and confidence. It's no different regarding driving a car. As experience grows, so does the method of operation. Does everyone who drives a car continue to use the 10 and 2 position for hands on the steering wheel, or 9 and 3? Driving with one hand is never recommended, yet almost every experienced driver does it. So shut up and enjoy the video, I say. Maybe there's something to learn.
This is SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BIGGER than what I thought from the thumbnail.
Great little project. Please do more basic home essentials like this. Maybe on the wall coat hangers, on the wall toilet paper roll holder, towel rack, bathroom mirror frame...
So basically you want some DIY Asswipe projects
Hi! love the suggestion, i'm making furniture for my home and i'm starting to share the videos on how i've made it. What tools do you thing is the basic set, so the projects keep viable for most of the people?
I like the way you make your videos, I'm from Mexico and I'm your fan!!
Super nice project but one additional hint you should not connect copper litz wires like you have done it, a wire end sleeve which you need to crimp would be the correct way. Anyway just a cool project but I like all your diy stuff
skills out of this world
The bee cut 🐝!!
Amazing bee shots. Subtily telling your regular viewers that your garden is working ;-)
I never considered acetone for resin. That's brilliant. You are so smart and yes, I laughed too when you used your feet to get the last of the wood filler out. I've done that too.
That’s not “brilliant”, that’s in the every epoxy instruction, dummy.
@@VladimirGorev no need to be arrogant.
Now thats reliable cloud support!
A very nice example of craftsmanship, made with great attention to detail.
Again, I had a lot of fun watching.
Great simple project, but a multicore wire and a screw terminal isn't a great combination, it's better to put a copper sleeve which is getting compressed before going into the terminal, otherwise over the time some corrosion may lead to bad contact, and in the worst scenario the whole thing could catch on fire
🤝🤝🤝👏👏👏👏
I like your style of design very much@
Love the minimal look!
I'm always so amazed at how gorgeous your work is but also how beautiful your hands are especially for someone that's a wood artist. 👍
Hayyy 🙏🤝🤝🤝
Lovely lights and something that should be straight forward even without heavy machinery
Keep up the good work. We enjoy the videos.
CNC is life!

quick but cool project
Hello! Nice video, but please, when u use twisted wires instead of solid, please always use ferrules at the end of the wire, and a proper krimper. If u use the bare wire stripes of a twisted wire. The pressure under the screw, or inside the wago will break off the little wires, and in the end, only some of the little wires will make a proper connection. That will result higher resistance, that will generate more heat, oxidisation, higher resistance, and in the end, it will cause fire.
If there is no way to use ferrules, use a solder iron to coat the end of the wires with some solder, to prevent them from splitting.
No sabía que existía una herramienta así, siempre he usado un cuchillo para los cables.
Me ha gustado mucho esta lámpara.
There are even more sophisticated cable stripers tools :) (sorry, my Spanish is too rusty)
That cloud is so cool!
love when a bench comes with cloud support 😌
I love European wiring, especially compared to that in the U.S. Connectors are great, wire gauges are small (higher voltages mean lower current).
I installed and wired up a ceiling fan in a friend's apartment in the Netherlands, and was amazed with how simple it was.
Very nice 👏 👏 👏
Yes sir!!! You just gave me an idea for my music studio 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😌 I’m so grateful 😇
Great job
DANG. Nice resin endgrain fix! Impressive (and not something I'd ever tried to do)!
As Always, you use all the tools and all those Amazing machines very properly. Defenitively, this Is a Channel where to learn woodworking. And I love Portugal!

Nice one !
I like you're work and video's 👌👌👌
Great problem solving for the resin pockets.
Really appreciate your work and channel. Pakistan.
So minimalistic and beautiful! Also great tips 👍
you are creative
For the wood putty, I have in the past used C clamps to squeeze the last squirts out of the tubes.
I sometimes made my own putty, using saw-dust / sander-dust from the piece I was working with, mixed with wood glue.
super nice!
Nice clean design. Great addition to the kitchen area. Thanks for sharing!
It's been so long. I miss your Sunday upload.
Gostei do "até já" no fim, bem português! Abraços do Brasil
Great film. Gorgeous build. Never seen sap pockets before. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Well done! Thumbs up and thanks for posting.
Great addition to your home! Nice build video, I always look forward to them!!

Świetny projekt!
Watching your videos = YESSSS... You saying BOOOOM! = NOOOOO...
I love it 💗
simple but beauty
I had that same resin issue building my bed platform with some sketchy hardware store pine. Sadly I also found out I’m quite allergic to pine resin 😩. Much itching followed…
Accident happens anytime need' more careful when using table saw!
Cris, fantástico trabalho! Posso perguntar qual a marca e modelo do seu desengrosso? Ele é GIGANTESCO!
Pero no he visto como la has colgado. Que tipo de enganche has utilizado?
I’ve used a similar type of filler. I just cut the tube.
Nice
On next lamp design to allow for spot light movment, add a lazy suzy type adaption.
Very nice work with finesse it really ties the room together. Just wondering how this was attached to the ceiling?
9:00 :-)
@@pierreboone568 got the hint
I was wondering just yesterday where you had got to! ✌🏻
Note to self: When I get my Avid CNC, be sure to use red Valchromat for the spoilboard.
Or purple plus green 😅
Ahah 😆 why not? It looks awesome :)
Since you already have those Wago connectors it could be best to use them everywhere and not the screw down type. Since the lamps are metal you really should also use a three core cable and ground the casings. They gave you a connection point for a reason.
The casing is grounded. You can see the screw where it is grounded to the PE wire. The 2 wire is only going to the lamp. But when using Wagos, she shouldn't drill the cables together and put them in. Just use one hole in the Wago for only 1 cable. If you need more holes, buy bigger Wagos. The small 5 x snap Wago is smaller than this bis 3 x Wago.
@@schossel all of the wiring that was installed was two core. Yes, the bases have three core but the ground was not connected to anything.
Nice design, nice wood working, but terrible and dangerous electrical. That is inexcusable as the basics are very easy to learn.
I watched it again. You're right.
We have no earth wires in the ceiling connections in Portugal, at least for +15 year old constructions. I won’t be touching the lamp with the power on and for 3 x 5w LED bulbs turned on and off 90% of the time with a voice command, I don’t think the wires will move that much in many many years… I combined two wires in the same spring yes because I needed 4 spring connectors and only had them with 3. Again, for 10w combined + 5w do you think there will be a problem?
@@GetHandsDirty
Here in the UK the lack of the earth connection with metal fittings would be a "fix immediately" and fail your safety certificate. I know you don't want to touch it, but if you did there is a chance of death. Unlikely, but still a possibility.
Personally I'm not too worried about the two wires in one Wago or screw terminal but it is something we should not do. Multiple stand wire should also be in a ferrule for the screw terminal.
Your hands should be whereever you feel comfortable having them while using the tools. It's your best intrest to take care of yourself, none of anybody else's business.
While that's true, it's also a good way to look that people are concerned and care about her (or other pronoun) health and safety and just want the best for her (or other pronoun).
So, showing concern for her (or other), allowed her (or other) to show us, viewers, a different and better perspective on the subject.
It helped her (or other) to help us, which is a win/win.
House tour when?
Muito legallllllllllllll
Até!
I like soo much these proyects but I can't make, I don't have all that tools ☹️
Great videos! :) How did you mount it to the ceiling?
Nice question
Looks good , but you have not connected the CPC (earth wire) of the light fittings! If a fault ever occurs in them, the metal casing of the fittings could become live and the Protective device back at your consumer unit will not trip leaving YOU to potentially becoming the path to earth if you touch it!
We don’t have earth wires in the ceiling. Also, I don’t intend to be touching the lamp with the power on. It will be just fine. But for anyone in a country with earth wires in the ceiling, do connect them obviously.
How did you fix the lights to the ceiling?
Adoro os teus vídeos!
Onde compras o material?
Acessórios e demais é na Rockler. Madeiras é na J. Pinto Leitão.
What kind of roller due you use for your water based varnish? I tried it once and got sooooo many little air bubbles.
It´s a foam roller.

Well, thats a really cheap lamp. if you have a bandsaw, tablesaw, planer, thicknessplaner, CNC-maschine, drillpress, cordless screwdriver and a japanese handsaw. ;-)
If she have a bandsaw, tablesaw, planer, thicknessplaner, CNC-maschine, drillpress, cordless screwdriver and a japanese handsaw... She gets with hard work and passion in these 6 years.
That doesn't mean she doesn't like a really cheap lamp! It wasn't because she couldn't buy more expensive... just because she liked it. 😶
