I am in the hospitality business, and i find it odd that the hotel didn't accommodate you with a reservation at another hotel. The official term is 'walked'. When oversold, they will 'walk' you (not literally) by booking you somewhere else AND pay for your room and transportation to get there. This experience is weird, not sure believable. But if real, everyone should know the hotel will find you a reservation somewhere else.
Third party reservations are different and we did book third party for this reservation as we often do for our personal travel to save money so we can travel more. (We don’t recommend this for clients unless they are willing to take the risk that we know is there when booking third party) Jordan told me he said direct in the video and that’s what is causing the confusion. Jared, I, did not realize he said this in the video until it was published, but I knew this was through third party. We did book directly with the new hotel and that is where I believe Jordan got confused and misspoke. This story is real as are all of our stories of our travel. We get that in today’s world not all is what it seems. However, we have no reason to lie about this and have our broken suitcase as evidence. Life Well Cruised is who we talked to (and Midships) prior to trying LEVEL8 for ourselves. We are not the same type of channel, though, as we don’t do packing tips like she focused on. On UA-cam, your niche is what people watch and subscribe for. If we did the video she did, our video would not be watched as people didn’t subscribe for packing tips. Hope this adds clarity. ☺️
Your timing was perfect with this video for me because our last set of luggage has only lasted a year and it's time to research getting a better set so I'm thankful you our this content out today!
What a bunch of rookie mistakes. From Heathrow to downtown London you can take a bus, the train or the Subway (they call it the "Tube") and then take a short taxi ride to your hotel. When you were dropped off by the taxi at a shopping mall you should have shown him the address again and asked that he take you there. It was your decision to walk with a broken suitcase instead of taking a taxi. This almost seems like an ad for the suitcase company. You could have reserved a hotel near the cruise terminal which would made a lot of things easier.
We weren’t worried about the cheapest way to get to our hotel, we were trying to limit our walking with the broken suitcase. Your recommendation is what we did with our travels to London with working suitcases (though the Tube isn’t always very friendly to those with suitcases) but it does require more walking than a taxi from airport to hotel, door-to-door. As for address, we had already gotten out of the taxi and the taxi had left prior to us realizing our hotel was on the other side of the shopping mall. We had not been to this hotel prior so we trusted the local taxi driver as we have done in many other countries. No worries as mistakes are made all the time and we understand, but that is why we didn’t show the driver again. We were in London for a few nights before our cruise and prefer London over staying next to the cruise port as you may know it’s not much to offer in comparison. Hope this helps answer your questions about “rookie” mistakes. 👀
No mistake this is so obviously a fairy story completely made up to advertise a certain brand of suitcase. This is not the first time these guys and many others here have made up these fairy tales As you say easy to take a bus or. train to a hotel unless you are completely stupid.. Notice they have not mentioned the name of this hotel and they have not named the other hotel either. Always the same stories without any back up and are you telling me these two idiots even after getting so called new suitcases would take a broken one all the way back to the US?..
We don’t recommend products on our channel unless we’ve used, love, and want to recommend to others. If you notice, we don’t do this often… We get dozens of sponsorship opportunities every week. However, we have only partnered with two thus far. This is because, we only partner with those that we’ve tried their products or services and love/believe in their product. ☺️
We book cruises for hundreds of clients each year - this hotel experience was us booking third party for our own personal travel to get the cheapest rates so we can travel more and have more content for you all. When we book travel for our clients, we don’t recommend the cheapest routes through third parties as there are added risks. This comment is seemingly trying to attack our credibility even though we have cruised on over 90 cruises, been to over 50 countries across 5 continents and have hundreds of satisfied clients. There are few Travel Agents with as much real-life experience as us when it comes to cruise vacations. Thus, we pride ourselves in being Cruise Experts with Hundreds of Satisfied Clients. 😁
AS travel agents I am not sure what is going on with this story. it makes no sense. "as the savvy travelers we are"??? Really pretty common knowledge in the hotel business that when you are "walked" from an overbooked hotel they get you another hotel, provide transportation to get there etc. You mention you stepped to an area and started searching for a hotel??? I usually love your content but as mentioned here seems like more of an infomercial for the suitcase brand. I get a sponsor but the story about overbooked hotel does not ring true for experienced travelers...know your rights.
These rights are not same through third party apps. We booked through third-party instead of directly. This is one risk we take for personal travel to get best deals as we are okay to rebook on the rare chance of something like this happening. We don’t recommend this for all travelers. ☺️
@@JJCruise Okay I get it. Might make a good video on why 3rd party apps are not the best. I always find if I contact the hotel they will match the price of any 3rd party. As you know 3rd party bookings are first to be walked. Thanks for clarifying. Usually I really like your content but without the complete info it made no sense.
@@robynjones285 Wow robyn...you are SO CORRECT. I went back and heard it for myself. So what is the truth here??? Crazy video from two guys that usually have good content. If I were JJ Cruises I'd take this one down.
We get dozens of sponsorship opportunities every week. However, we have only partnered with two so far. We only partner with those we’ve tried their products or services and love/believe in their product. ☺️ We told our story which includes this luggage (post-troubled travel) after we have tried and verified it as a product we love. 🫶
I'm really surprised by the number of negative comments on this video. Jarrod & Jordan rarely talk about a product, nor are they overly dramatic. I've had a suitcase damaged on a flight to Johannesburg. Thankfully the Johannesburg Airport has a mall connected to it. After a 14 hour flight I went shopping for a new suitcase because I was not dragging a 50# suitcase around South Africa with a missing wheel.
"Ruined"? Come onnnn. You're taking clickbait to a whole new level with what ended up being a damp squib of a story and promotional video. We get you need sponsors and that's ok but this just leaves a bit of a bad taste, guys.
Our travel was ruined by our broken luggage. Not sure if you have ever traveled with broken luggage like we did but it does ruin your travel. Carrying 30 pounds by hand because you can no longer roll it while carrying a backpack and rolling a larger suitcase is less than fun. All real experiences that included finding a product that we love (with a handle bar we love as well). We get dozens of sponsorship opportunities every week. However, we have only partnered with two thus far. We only partner with those we’ve tried their products or services and love/believe in their product. ☺️
Bad taste? It clearly shows Paid Promotion and they did a heck of a job. Their hotel was cancelled so not a walk ( as understood it) and not entitled to compensation. Unless you don’t believe them, hauling the bag around London in it’s self is a great story
Bad taste? It clearly shows you don’t Paid promotion and they did a heck of a job. Their hotel was cancelled so not a walk ( asI understood it) and not entitled to compensation. They had a lot to haul around
We were going to a Hilton time share in Honolulu and he took us to the Waikiki Hilton. We wouldn’t get off and said it was at another place ( had never been there). Had to argue but I told him it was up an escalator. Had noticed this at home. Eventually he talked with his company and discovered the actual location. He felt bad and carried our luggage up escalator for us!
I love my level 8 suitcase. However, the first time I used the suitcase going to Europe, one of the zippers broke. It left me with no way to lock the suitcase, but I was able to close it. Mind you this was my first time using the suitcase. Initially I had communication, then I waa ghosted. I bought the luggage through another UA-camr and I posted on her Instagram and suddenly I got a response. Initially they told me to take the suitcase to a ziopper repair shop. I was traveling another month in Europe, where am I going to find zipper repair on a cruise ship. Then I live in a remote location and I couldn't find a zipper repair plus the fact that this was new luggage, I had a defective one. After my post the company finally agreed to replace the bag. The new bag is wonderful. It has been on another European cruise and most recently 2 months cruising to Australia./New Zealand. I would recommend the luggage, it was the lack of communication that was frustrating. The luggage works great on the cobblestone streets of Europe.
Johannesburg, SA on our way to safari. (No place to buy a new bag) so our lodge helped us duct tape the whole bag closed. Unbelievably it made it all the back to the USA.
Interesting that both your channel and Parodeejay put out a "sponsored" video today. We way overpacked for our British Isles adventure and won't travel like that again with two large and a carryon and backpacks. Seriously, Level 8 looks like a good product. Vlogger Travel Blog Jamie has the bright yellow one and it seems to be holding up to his many trips. I'd love to hear a follow up after a year of constant traveling.
Yes! We are happy with ours and can’t wait to see how long they last as not all luggage does 😅 We get dozens of sponsorship opportunities every week. However, we have only partnered with two so far. We only partner with those we’ve tried their products or services and love/believe in their product. ☺️
We understand the concept of paid promotions BUT i think you botched this one because your title and story is just not believable. Life Well Cruised just also posted a video for the same product but didn't try to sell it behind false advertising or a weird story. I think transparency is the key. There is no malice behind this comment. Just true constructive criticism.
On our trip home from the Princess Cruises to the British Isles in 2015, we flew to Washington DC where we had a layover. My luggage came off the ramp in a plastic bag. Someone somewhere opened up my luggage because the lock was still locked, but they opened my luggage probably with a pen. Nothing was removed, but when I got to Los Angeles, I put in a claim, and I immediately received a brand new suitcase which I use to this day. I don’t know if it happened at Heathrow or our airline, which I think was United. I can completely relate to your story. But I’m just glad that it happened at the end of the trip, but not at the beginning, because I would have been forced to run around London and the UK trying to find a new suitcase.
Our travel was ruined by our broken luggage. Not sure if you have ever traveled with broken luggage like we did but it does ruin your travel. Hi Jordan and Jared! Thank you so much for your video and advice. Folks do not think of things like heavy broken luggage. Folks need to check for damage BEFORE you leave the airport when flying. Fortunately I discovered my broken luggage when I got home and didn’t have to deal with a check in size bag during my travels. The bag only weighed about 40lbs , hard shell, and it was clear it fell/dropped a good height for the wheels to be smashed in/shell destroyed. I learned about Level8 from an aviation channel and very happy to see your endorsement. I just bought the Gibraltar, full aluminum shell and frame with 20% off, total $351. And it uses latches to secure versus zipper. As of now it will get it’s debut on the JJCruise Edge group cruise in May
I’m sorry but you must not have given the Taxi the correct information. Taxi drivers in London have to take 2 years of exams. Was it a taxi or an uber? What hotel? Obviously it was not a good hotel. Sounds like a disaster. But there is always three sides to the story.
CLICKBAIT!!! this did not come close to ruining your trip!!. sorry guys...DO BETTER!!! don't get me wrong, I'm still going to watch most of your vids. But if this keeps up.... 🚢

I don’t get why you complain about a truth story. I have been told Heathrow, London hotels, taxis and more. You have to appreciate what they are sharing. We had issues in Heathrow. We took a taxi from Heathrow to Weybridge…1 hour out and we got scammed. The taxi charged us our fare plus the cost of him having to take the taxi back empty because he isn’t allowed to take one back…how is that on us. So these tips are good to know for people who care to learn from others before they travel. If you don’t like these, then I am sure the boys won’t be upset if you click unsubscribe and scroll on. I enjoy and appreciate the videos commercials or not.,
Had the same thing happened to Lino on our first Alaska cruise in Seattle. Lino took taxi to a store to buy luggage. Lino is looking at Level 8 luggage right now…..thanks guys👍🥰
How do you like that wide handle? I have a bag that goes over a smaller handle so I guess that couldn't be used but maybe wouldnt need it , just wondering. Thanks
The Trolley Bar makes it so easy to move. It truly glides across the floor. That said, they do have luggage with the traditional handles in case you use carryon bags that go over the handles. ☺️
I have the Level 8 with the wide handle and that is my one complaint. I can’t slide my smaller roller bag on top of it. I’m debating whether or not to take it to Europe just for that reason. But it is an extremely well-made suitcase and that is the only drawback for me. I’m sure I will probably end up taking it just because of the room inside with those handles being on the side. It makes for a very nice flat bottom.
Ours fit under our cruise ship beds (better than our other suitcases too) - however, some river cruise ships or lower cruise beds sometimes found on older ships may be different. If so, you can put it underneath open easily. ☺️
I open mine up flat and slide it under and that way I have a little drawer I can pull in and out and throw stuff in when I’m done with it. Works great.

This reminds me of dreams/nightmares shortly after my retirement where I would walk into the Board Room wearing my pajamas. :) I definitely would not spend more than an overnight in Southampton, so London would also be my choice. Regarding the naysayers who apparently spent too much time with disagreeable family members at the Thanksgiving table, it's time for a nice nap. Much love, fellas, and I am thankful for your content.
I bought a Level 8 carry on with a computer pocket 2 years ago, zipper broke the 1st trip but the wheels are nice and smooth. You know ParaDeeJay, The Lodge Guys and EECC Travels already did a Level 8 video, a little late to the party and repetitive. Maybe promote another luggage brand?
Sorry to hear your zipper broke! Hopefully you let LEVEL8 know so they could assist you. We don’t do this based on other channels or know what all other channels are using a product, we just want to promote a brand we love and have used. ☺️
We planned a cruise with an additional time in Europe. Unfortunately when I booked the hotels I didn’t realize one was an old house with no elevator. Four flights of narrow stairs up. We were spending several days there. Plus there were steps to get in and more steps outside to go to breakfast. London was beautiful but for two senior citizens it wasn’t good. On the first floor were college age people. I had let them know we were old with bad knees.
I was flying from LAX to Phnom Penh a few years ago with a stopover in Taipei. Sitting in my seat in Taiwan I was watching the luggage going up the conveyor into the luggage compartment when I saw my small, orange, hardshell bag going up in a plastic bag. I thought that was odd until I arrived in Cambodia, and when the bag came out, they had literally shattered the hardshell and it was completely in pieces. Not sure where it happened but EVA refused to do anything about it.
Hope you two have thick skins with all the negativity in some of the comments. On a holiday, no less. You are both so kind and well-intended. Hope today is a great one!
Thanks! We know a lot of people love their LEVEL8 Luggage as do we. This includes Life Well Cruised and Midships whom we reached out to get their thoughts prior to getting ours. We get dozens of sponsorship opportunities every week. However, we have only partnered with two thus far. This is because, we only partner with those we’ve tried their products or services and love/believe in their product. ☺️ UA-cam Videos are Free to watch but sometimes people act as if they are paying for our videos. We on the other hand have only done two sponsorships (which we do say are paid sponsorships) with brands we love and get comments as if we have scammed them or done something evil. 🙃 We have actually used these products, told the story that lead us to trying these products, and then recommend it after loving the product. But we get it, some people just have to be mad about something. 😅🤷🏽♂️
Love you guys, but I think you should change your channel name to "Cruise Drama Mamas" as your content of late has been about cruise 'drama' and controversies (though this was a drama promo). You're so fun! I'll miss you saying "JJ cruise" though 🌟.
We hope this video helps protect people from buying cheap luggage and then having their luggage break similarly to ours 😅 We share Stories of the Seas often as we have seen great interest from many for these stories as we are some of the only people cruising this often. Parodeejay being the other ones cruising as regularly as us (probably even more than us!) ☺️
@JJCruise thanks for the response. No criticism here. I just found my cruise name funny, while still preferring JJCruise! You've influenced some of my cruise choices, so I do appreciate you both, hence being a subscriber with notifications 😉
i would love to buy this luggage but at over 1600 aud i could never afford it sadly. the postage to me here in australia is almost 500 aud so its totally out of my price range. but from what i have heard it fantastic suitcases :)
We had purchased through a third party so we knew the added-risk but wanted the cheaper rate given it was for personal travel. We usually recommend booking directly when it comes to our clients or family travel for best protection. ☺️
This video is a Story of our Travels and includes a product we can recommend after using it and loving it. We’ve only ever worked with two companies after trying and loving their products. We get pitched dozens of products every week and yet have only done two sponsorships because we want to be selective in what we recommend to our community. We will only recommend products and services after we’ve experienced it and love it like these LEVEL8 suitcases. ☺️
Hey guys. But why did you get out the taxi at a mall not seeing the hotel in sight? Oh no a 15 minute walk with luggage? Now missing reservation? Walked again? I can barely roll my 28 and 24 in from the uber to check in much less 15 and 20 min walks and now carrying cuz we know our carryons are stuffed to capacity to keep the large cases at 50 lbs or less to bring back souvenirs. Never experienced that but hubby’s hard case got sliced. Nothing sliced inside or missing and of course usual scuff marks. Traveling in these instances for the young. We would be ubering place to place 😂.
I wonder how you conclude it was broken in London. Did you check when it was loaded into the plane. All you know it was OK when you dropped it and broken when it arrived. Could just as well be the US baggage handling that broke it.
A good suitcase or at least a functioning one is a necessity. I have looked at Level 8 and while the wide handle is appealing none of my personal items with trolley strap would fit over it. I Enjoy your programs!
Sorry you had that awful experience!! For me it was a brand new Samsonite suitcase badly scratched and damaged on a flight from Gatwick to the Caribbean. Then on the way back with another brand new piece of luggage, 2 of the wheels got broken off. Damaged luggage causes a lot of stress and inconvenience for sure❤
Look I have been on cruises before and yet nothing happened to me stuff does happen. It's just like going to drive a car you do not know if you are going to get hit or not.

The hotel which overbooked should have found you a replacement room. Same price, they should have comped the difference. We have had a more positive experience when offending hotel handled it properly!
Normally we would request/expect this, but we purchased Third Party for the best price. We do this when we can for personal travel even though this risk does knowingly exist. ☺️
We booked through a third party app, so wasn’t required. (Which we knew of that risk when booking, but chose the risk given the price and it was for personal travel)
Love your content Guys amazing I’m the first in the comments maybe I shouldn’t be up at 1 am huh?? Glad I don’t start work till 1500 lol Ive not had my luggage damaged but have just come home from a work trip to Sydney, I work for Accor in Brisbane and was invited to a 20+ year service dinner engagement to celebrate my time with Accor with my gm and another long time colligue and good friend who had also surpassed 20 years service; I’m standing in the Sydney airport yesterday at baggage claim for my flight my gm beside me thinking to myself this bag and all my clothes for this dinner including a very new jacket are taking too long- they had better not be lost or I’m in a real pickle here as the dinner was that same night- luckily for me almost 25 min later my surcease appears on the baggage conveyer belt I was VERY relieved. I could of replaced everything else in time but could not have gone to this very special dinner which my hotel paid all my costs to attend; with out appropriate clothing the night was fantastic and all invitees had a great evening!😊 David Young 40 Brisbane Australia.
@dianephelon6981 more than an ad, we talk why luggage is important as this can negatively affect your travels as it has on ours multiple times prior. We get dozens of sponsorship opportunities every week and have only done two because we only choose those we have tried, loved, and believe in. ☺️
Nope out! No watching a sales talk. Talk about checking your luggage safety ir how to pack better. Carry duck tape always! No mater the luggage! Any can break! And then not to take a taxi here and there? You carried it? Really. So exactly when did the luggage break and where? Plan ahead. Why could this piece piggy back on another piece or sit on top. You never show the piece so assume it was a small carry on. Poor thinking.
We do not push products on this channel- in fact in over 500 videos this is the second one. We’ve been using these suitcases over the fall season and we really like them- we wouldn’t recommend them if we didn’t use them and like them ourselves. This is also a travel channel- travel UA-cam would be the exact place you should be looking for travel recommendations, so we’d argue this is very appropriate.

@@JJCruise You guys are great creators, your videos are very good, what I'm saying you don't need to do this kind of videos. If I have a broken suitcase, I won't choose to walk Vs. Uber/taxi. You can partner with any company you consider but this video had no other intention but $$. Maybe it was not your intention but, believe me, creating videos like this one, it's not good. And to be clear, I don't think a broken suitcase would ruin any cruise. Take care guys and have fun. Happy Thanksgiving!
My goodness there's a lot of Negativity down here in the comments! Level 8 has been working with creators for awhile, y'all. And who better to promote the product than people who are actually putting it through its paces? It's not that serious. Sheesh.🙄
Thanks for the support! We actually talked to Life Well Cruised and Midships before trying it as well to get their feedback and they loved it as well. 🥳

Spent 10 years flying every week for work - I like a 2 wheel 22" where the wheels are tucked up into the bag (roller blade style wheels). Have seen too many 4 wheel bags come out without all the wheels. So sorry for the hotel issue - that sucks.
Don't listen to these haters. It was an interesting story. I agree. The ruin wasn't as much the luggage as the Hotel Fiasco. Elana from Life Well Cruise promotes that luggage 🧳 too as you probably know.
Had the same thing happened to Lino on our first Alaska cruise in Seattle. Lino took taxi to a store to buy luggage. Lino is looking at Level 8 luggage right now…..thanks guys👍🥰

Based on your experience and choices why would I ever book my next vacation thru JJ Cruise?!
We book cruises for hundreds of clients each year - this hotel experience was us booking third party for our own personal travel to get the cheapest rates so we can travel more and have more content for you all.
When we book travel for our clients, we don’t recommend the cheapest routes through third parties as there are added risks.

But you said you booked directly with the hotel. I'm confused.
@@robynjones285 Wow robyn...you are SO CORRECT. I went back and heard it for myself. So what is the truth here??? Crazy video from two guys that usually have good content. If I were JJ Cruises I'd take this one down.
Exactly, they said they booked correctly doing it direct with the hotel..mmmmmm
Ugh this just turned into a level 8 infomercial 😩

I'm really surprised by the number of negative comments on this video. Jarrod & Jordan rarely talk about a product, nor are they overly dramatic. I've had a suitcase damaged on a flight to Johannesburg. Thankfully the Johannesburg Airport has a mall connected to it. After a 14 hour flight I went shopping for a new suitcase because I was not dragging a 50# suitcase around South Africa with a missing wheel.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us! So sorry it happened to you but so glad you got a new suitcase immediately ☺️
"Ruined"? Come onnnn. You're taking clickbait to a whole new level with what ended up being a damp squib of a story and promotional video. We get you need sponsors and that's ok but this just leaves a bit of a bad taste, guys.

@@JJCruiseno need to explain yourselves to naysayers. It would have sucked to be in that situation & many folk would have lost their minds.
Bad taste? It clearly shows Paid Promotion and they did a heck of a job. Their hotel was cancelled so not a walk ( as understood it) and not entitled to compensation.
Unless you don’t believe them, hauling the bag around London in it’s self is a great story

Sorry to hear of your experience! Glad to hear you love your LEVEL8 suitcase now! The wheels are incredible!
I don't understand why a broken suitcase and an unavailable hotel room ruined your cruise. What happens before the cruise is not the cruise.

Yes! We are happy with ours and can’t wait to see how long they last as not all luggage does 😅

😂get ezair and princess protection with transfers to ship for stress free travel. Even better, pack light with carryon and backpack ❤ Bon voyage😊
Thanks for sharing your story! So sorry that happened to you!

As of now it will get it’s debut on the JJCruise Edge group cruise in May
Look forward to seeing it in the Edge Group Cruise! 🥳
I’m sorry but you must not have given the Taxi the correct information. Taxi drivers in London have to take 2 years of exams. Was it a taxi or an uber? What hotel? Obviously it was not a good hotel. Sounds like a disaster. But there is always three sides to the story.
It may have been our address or some other reason. No worries as we understand it happens. ☺️
PS.. the Level8 carryon also has bonus 4 piece packing cubes and tag. Very good deal
So glad you two were able to laugh about it while reliving this😢 Happy Thanksgiving 🦃

I’ve looked at Level 8 luggage and it appears to be too wide to fit under a cruise ship bed. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

So sorry to hear of your experience! We wish you could have swapped with the college kids.
Is that the one i saw blowing across the tarmac away from the plane in Atlanta?
I don't do roller bags since seeing that.

What a nightmare!
We are so sorry to hear this!! Definitely happens to the best of us 😅

We love ours too!! 🥳🙌🏽
Good point! One of the two was responsible.
Why so negative?
❓
A good suitcase or at least a functioning one is a necessity. I have looked at Level 8 and while the wide handle is appealing none of my personal items with trolley strap would fit over it. I Enjoy your programs!

Sorry you had that awful experience!! For me it was a brand new Samsonite suitcase badly scratched and damaged on a flight from Gatwick to the Caribbean.
The hotel had an obligation to walk you; the should have booked you into another place AND paid for it. It’s happened to me.
We booked through a third party app, so wasn’t required. (Which we knew of that risk when booking, but chose the risk given the price and it was for personal travel)
Exactly. And if they did pay they would be paid several times the cost of their room.
I wouldn't have done all that walking. Just get a cab in Southampton or London!
We wish we would have even though it would have taken more time. 😅

And then not to take a taxi here and there? You carried it? Really. So exactly when did the luggage break and where? Plan ahead. Why could this piece piggy back on another piece or sit on top. You never show the piece so assume it was a small carry on. Poor thinking.
You poor things. These are problems I wish I had.

Good but inappropriate infomercial for your channel. Getting more and more disappointed. It's all about money in Your pocket! Very tacky.
