He may be right, but I think it all boils down to acceptance. I don't think rap artist are not doing well artistically. They are. I think the problem is acceptance. People want to dance and have fun and rap genre is not that type of music that'll give them what they want. The likes of brymo, asa, etc are doing good music too but it's not a music that makes people dance and have fun. So it's nobody's fault. It's just the way it is and they can't force their genre on people. We've seen artist who started with rap genre changed to afro-pop and got accepted. People just want to dance and have fun. Respect to rap artists and artists like brymo and asa, they're doing good music. They just don't have the acceptance and that's not their fault.

This is what I want you all to Know. Hip hop as an African sound, it is African Art, it is African Music like Afro Music, Jazz, Funk, Disco, R n B, Blues Bee Bop, and many other genres black people all over the world has introduced.
Hip Hop was brought to America by Jamaicans who settled in the bronx in the State of New York. The First modern hip hop sound was introduced to us by DJ KOOL Herc from Jamaica in 1973. Break beats and toasting on the mic like Jamaicans do. Now who are Jamaicans? Nearly all the people who are from Jamaica are descendants of central Africans and West Africans who were forcefully brought to the Island to work as slaves. i.e Transatlantic slave Trade. Now a lot of West African tribes were known to have people called griots. These are people who rapped and sang with local strings, they told stories about important people, past and present, some were praise singers, some spoke like prophets, addressing the ills of the society. A lot were taken to the Americas and Carribbean, their descendants lost their Languages, like Hausas, Malinke, Fulani, yorubas, Igbos, Fon, Kongo, songhay, madinka, soninke, Tuaregs, Ewe, Ashanti, etc. they adopted the Creole English ie patois and they sang and rapped in this language. a lot of them moved to USA especially New York. They learnt American English and rapped and sang in it.Kool Herc and Africa Bambaata are good examples. Hip Hop is from the ancestors like afro beat or music, it is bigger than Wiz Kid, it is bigger than all of us, it is very spiritual cos it consists of words, words create, word is God, Hip hop is God music. It has been hijacked because of the loads of information it brings, it has been watered down and called a violent music all because of the power it has. The establishment always want you to hate yours. So anyone who says hip hop is dead, has no knowledge of Music, of history of his ancestors
