Of the many, MANY reasons to come back to this set again and again, two things stand out for me: One, the fantastic transition from "Santa Clause is comin' to town" to "Gimme some lovin", which is so brilliantly done that one hardly notices it happened. Two, the "Thank you for being a friend" bit where you shared your stage with your friend. Wholesome! Needless to say I enjoyed the rest of the set very much as well, and I listen to it to improve my mood instantly :)
Such a breath of fresh air to see a totally different style and approach to mixing. You killed it in every aspect and you had so much fun doing this routine! Everyone in the crowd could clearly see you felt this set and enjoyed executing it! Well deserved win and I hope you kill it in Moscow!!!!!
Humble as fuck too bro. I read that article where you gave it up to Dynamix taking the title but you ended up taking it. Well deserved, sir, well deserved!
Lazy I have been following you for years. You got this my man! Wish I was there but Sunday’s are tough lol. Good luck in the finals bring it home for the bay!
Bro where do I begin.....to see what you've been through and conquered on IG.....to this Big Ass stage and kill it .......I give you the upmost praises!!!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 the showman ship had me dyin...to bring Dynamix up there was pure dopeness!!!! It was literally like you took everyone on a journey in the mind of Lazy Boy! I can definitely say as a fellow DJ the music selection was hands down the dopest I've seen in a long time I've watched alot of battles alot of people critique sets and what not sloppy this sloppy that....everyone need to pay homage to ur recovery and you could've played one song on that stage and that would've been a success but to do a full on set after battling cancer.......PROPS TO U LAZY BOY U DESERVED THE WIN!!!!!!
It’s Chris Brown “Run It” Chris brown was arrested and convicted of beating his then gf Rihanna tying “hit me baby one more time” together with Rakim’s “I ain’t no joke” like “you can get a smack for this” and LL Cool J’s “call the cops, I’m gonna knock you out” from “mama said knock you out”.
my boyyyy!!! dude. LOVE the set. it's been what almost two decades now since I've seen and heard a set from you?! i think i have one of your classic mixes on a CDR somewhere lol. CONGRATS on the W man. So awesome to see how you've grown in your skills, your showmanship. Just watched all your UA-cam videos. Real treat to see you in your element after all these years!
Super sick set. Well put together. lazyboy you the man Hey real quick that track right after "so excited" then you blen in to ocean ave. Whats that track. Thanks. And keep up the great work.
Yo! You this set just redefined what 3style is! You definitely set the bar on this one! I honestly listen to the set once a week cause this is straight 🔥🔥🔥
Interesting, clever. Love the funk selection. Never thought I'd hear a crowd of "heads" so hype on Brittney but hey..atleast your not throwin cakes at ppl.
Samuel Bisares it really is. I wrote it 2 years ago and knew it was just for this very stage. I believe it will be talked about forever. Thank you for noticing!
Had some fun transitions, track choice and wordplay but tbh, technically I found it some what sloppy and not that impressive, oh and that part @8:00 has been done way too many times.
What was sloppy? The only real sloppy parts were due to the needle issues. You can’t say the second time the James brown jiggle came in it was sloppy because it was actually flawless also threw in a body trick. If you can do better then please do so...
@@djlazyboy23 Lol, that's your reaction by default right? Asking for someone to show they're better. Can't handle some criticism on your boi? I even started off with some positive points mind you. Besides that, it's a competiton bro, he is out there TO BE JUDGED lol. Following 3style for yearss, I feel he is not on the level some winners are. I already stated he has some good elements, but technically it's just not pushing any limits. He uses a lot of cue's, instead of actually mixing and using turntablism. Root for your boy, but don't come at me when I have a different opinion bro. I respect his effort, doesn't mean he's flawless. Peace.
It’s only natural that I get defensive. And I can and do appreciate constructive criticism. I spent countless hours writing this set. I was still adjusting edits for the set on abelton 15 before walking on stage. I even edited the set live on stage by cutting some parts shorter to make sure I had enough time. Thank you for the praise on the “some fun transitions, track choices, wordplay”. But to say as a whole that it was sloppy is not true. It had 3 maybe 4 sloppy points that I can count and I wrote it so of course I’m gonna be extra harsh. The set wasn’t flawless but the second attempt to hit the Steve D juggles with James brown was undeniably flawless and hard as fuck to hit. So to say that it was sloppy is just ignorant. And I’m not saying that to piss you off and invite more negative energy, I’m saying that so you can go back and watch that juggle and see that it was hit perfectly not sloppily. I also invited you to do a 3style set because people who understand what is needed on this platform should be doing it. Let’s elevate the game. Let’s each do what we can to bring something whatever it may be to this competition that has never been done. I’m not saying you can’t play at all. I’m saying if you see what needs to be done then do it so we all can see. I would love to see you blow everyone’s minds with what you feel would make a perfect 3style set in your eyes. With all of this said, let’s look at this together with constructive criticism in mind. What would you say would add to this set to make it meet your vision of the best 3style set ever? Also what is your favorite 3styke set that we can listen to and or watch? -Lazyboy
Gregory Sherrell Dude everybody loves it, but I felt like there was a bunch of commercial interruptions for celebrities to just say the dudes name and I was trying to bob my head but there would be stutters in the transition. I mean he’s a way better Dj than I’ll ever be but when I heard best of the best I guess my expectations were just a little high
Philip Ribas best set of the night between 6 djs who were hand picked for this style of dj set (including artists of the actual songs and celebrity who was in the building judging the event saying the djs name or segueing into the next song). If you do your research you’ll learn that this is the style for this competition. If you want to bob your head then make a cool playlist on Spotify. But if you want to hear a dj be as creative as they desire with 15 minutes of time and all the music they can find on the internet and beyond then Red Bull 3style is your plug. Commenting your personal opinion on something you know very little about, something the artist spent countless hours thinking, creating, editing, practicing, adjusting, reediting, fine tuning, and sharing with the world is inconsiderate. It’s just a negative way to live, and doesn’t bring any joy to someone who loves this art form. Completely pointless to comment on other than creating an opportunity for me to educate you on how to treat people with respect and share encouraging energy. With that said... I enjoyed your video recreating the mudding excursion with your cousin Vila. The first thing I really enjoyed was the shot of you in the airplane going from inside with you in the shot, to outside, then switching the clip to the time lapse. I’ve taken a lot of window seat selfies on trips and done a bunch of take off and landing time lapses but never editing them together. Nice touch on that. I also like the shot you picked of Vila because of the angle in which she was sitting. She was kind if leaning to her right and the way one of her hands was on the wheel and the other was not it looked like she was balancing herself the same way she would have been had she really been mudding. That probably happened because she was really balancing herself when your other cousins were rocking the Jeep around. Nice work!
Gregory Sherrell thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate a civil conversation about the topic. The set was absolutely creative, his scratch ability was on par with q bert and his creativity was on point. The word play in the transitions and the way she used different instruments to play the melody in to the next song really showed off great skill. I didn’t want a club set that was just a bunch of top 40 string together I just felt like there were times where it could’ve been cleaned up a little bit that took me out of it. I didn’t want a constant bpm but at this level there is always room for extreme criticism. I was nitpicking for sure. Like i said a better dj than i will ever be, but the groove could use improvement.
