- Here's a quick run down on how I trained my dogs to retrieve my medicine / drinks.
I'm in no way saying this is the only way to train this! it's just how I did. I also have another video on how to teach “take” which could help with this command

First of all she is a good trainer
After watching your video and implementing your tactics, my dog had this down in 20 minutes all the way to the part where me putting it on my level on a table, taking a step back and telling her get and me having my hand right there for her to drop it into my hand, and immediately rewarding this is the best video I have seen. Thank you so much.❤
That makes me so so happy!! I’m glad I could help 🖤
he's so happy to work with you, I love it!
He’s the best helper lol
You are an amazing trainer. Thank you for your help.
I love that this video has a golden retriever in it. Freja started doing medication retrieval naturally, and I 0:56 would like to train this task in the future.
Thank you this is great!! My dog realized my signs of not feeling well and I want to teach her to retrieve my meds now
It’s a super helpful task for them to know!
This is helping me so much train my wifes service dog! She doesnt have like crippling disabilities that would make it hard for her to move but she gets nauseous somedays and cant really move too much so i decided (as yesterday was a really bad day she has been sick after getting terth pulled and was throwing up a lot) that i should train the dog for at least drink retrievals for when im not home and she feels like that and our dog is smart and loves to learn so im hoping she will get the hang of it pretty quickly i know in a comment you said it took him 2 weeks but how often in a day did you practice it?
I trained with him once a day maybe 10-20 mins daily for about 2 weeks to get it solid!
Thank you for this
You’re very amazing how would I get in touch with how to obtain or even train my own dog to help me with certain things. I am in a wheelchair and I am not able to do a lot of things and blind as well. I am not trying to sound lazy but sometimes I do need a little help
How sweet of you
thank you so much! you might qualify for a program service dog! some states have local programs where they train the dog for you.
How long did it take Sirius to learn this completely in the beginning?
2 weeks to get him solidly going to our designated spot and retrieving them!
what do you do if your dog still doesn't want to interact with it after the treat. For instance my dog doesnt care about the object because she knows i have a treat. I cant use anything like a toy as a reward because she isnt interested in that.
Put the treat in the cup/box bag. I feel lucky because my guy will take anything we throw at him and love the crumbs out of it. But I know he love games most of all so making the cup the game is great. Make the cup the treat and don’t have any other treats laying around or in your hands. Mark the behaviour and unscrew the lid and give them the treat from the cup.
Would this ever be done in public or only at home?
Depends on the dog & disability
How would you motivate a dog that is not interested in treats or toys?
Use their meals! Instead of feeding from a bowl, have your dog work for their meals a few times a week.
I have a question I'm starting to train my dog but I have issues with getting her to let it go
I have a video on teaching “take” I’d work on that first to practice her handing things back to you
@@siriuslysalem awesome thanks!!!!!
Mine won't hold it, what do I do? She grabs it and then drops it
It tells you what to do at 3:40
What treats do you use?
Zukes and merrick power bites
