Here's how to add the Onyx Studio battery.
It's not challenging. Everyone can challenge.
However, if the product fails, it will not be held responsible.
    ****************** ** ** ** ** **
    I will add the contents.
    ****************** ** ** ** ** **
We recommend that you use an new battery.
Don't use conventional batteries like the video I made.
Small capacity battery will not be available
In the video I made, I use an existing battery, but it is better to dismantle an existing batter

We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.

You only need to balance 18650 Li ion batteries when connected in series since you cannot balance them when connected in parallel. What affects the batteries (cells) when they are connected in series is that their internal impedance can vary up to 15% in a lot and 15% from each manufacturer. As the impedance rise then the temperature will also rise which damages the cell over time. If no management is present it may cause the bad cell to fail which can damage the other cells too. But I wouldn't worry in this applikation.

This was very helpful video. I bought a open box onyx 4 for 40 bucks but realized it was producing crackling bass when on battery power (sounded perfect plugged in). I figured the battery must be bad because the power light also never turned solid when plugged in. I ordered a factory style replacement battery and 4 18650 3000mah batteries. I cut the chip out of the original factory battery to repurchase and protect my new 18650 batteries from over charging (they are supposed to be protected but I trust the quality HK chip more then whatever they put in the off brand stuff). I also noticed the original battery leads were much thicker then the new ones so I cut the original harness off the battery and soldered both the leads to the new oem replacement battery and 4 upgraded batteries making a three way connection.
The speaker sounds amazing on battery power now, no more crackling and the power light turned solid after roughly 4 hours of charging. I'm not sure what the total run time will be yet but I'm happy that I have $150 speaker for 70 bucks now with the added bonus of much greater battery life.

No protection is needed, if you know anything about the electronics you can discover the pins that go to the original battery and you can connect 4 or 6 common 18650 batteries, the charger takes it as a single battery to all (as long as they are in parallel), I have already tried it and it works correctly by cutting both loading and unloading, sorry for my English

Hey Jaymar! I did it, but I added 2 more extra batteries for a total of 6-18650's (all connected to the included 26650 battery) & I have ran this speaker fairly loud all day from 8am to about 9pm & it never ran out of power!! It works flawlessly!! I was going to add 2 more 18650's, but the room inside I wasn't sure if I could add more. I didn't notice any sound difference whatsoever. This speaker doesn't use the inside space like some speakers do. Everything component utilizes it's own design in this thing.
I got this speaker on "Ebay" for $35 bucks & is a Manufacturer Refurb & it looked & worked like new!! I then also purchased 20 Samsung BN batteries from a guy who refurbs battery packs for tools (Dewalt, Milwaukee & other electronics too, etc.), but he also sells just the battery packs with no outer shell. All new batteries, but they are spot soldered so you have to tear them down into individual batteries. I wanted the batteries for 2 of my old vaping mods with internal 18650's to replace. These are top of the line batteries & would cost a fortune to buy them at retail.
So sorry for yakking on, but this works as long as you have all of the original "Circuitry/Safety Chips" in place, it all works out. It won't burn your items or house down!! Very important!! It only draws the power needed & with plenty of "Reserve" from the extra batteries, it has been well worth the price! I also am replacing some other Li-ion devices where my batteries are just not holding a charge like they once did. I just replaced all of my old laptop batteries (battery pack) with the new ones & it holds a charge like new again for that!!
If your a DIY'er or watch UA-cam vids to fix things like me, you can bring some old things back to life or add much more run time/life to a product like this. Hope this helps!! Take care....Peace.....!!

Standard battery holders will typically require you to install the batteries in series, where the positive end of the 1st battery connects to the negative end of the 2nd, and so on. He connected the batteries in parallel, where all the positive ends are connected together, and all of the negative ends are connected together. There is a very significant difference between these 2 battery configurations. In parallel, each battery has its own unique path in the circuit, independent of the other batteries, and as long as those batteries are the same type of battery and rated for the same voltage, they should charge and discharge without a problem. In other words, if you hooked up four 1.5 volt batteries in parallel, the total voltage from the battery pack is still just 1.5 volts. However, if that same four-pack of 1.5 volt batteries were connected in series, the voltages of the batteries add together giving you a 6-volt battery pack - which could be a major problem if you connect it to a circuit only rated to handle 4 volts of EMF. The original battery pack will tell you what kind of battery it is (Li-Ion, NiMH, etc...) and the voltage it provides to the circuit. All of that being said, an easier option is to search online for a straight-up single replacement battery pack, then there are no worries.

in parallel you can connect any capacity battery without any additional pcb (2000 mah cell+ 6000mah cell= 8000mah cell)
in series you can't connect different capacity battery (actually you can but whole battery capacity= capacity of the smallest cell(5000mah then 5000 then 5000 then 2000 then 5000 and whole battery will have 5series connections but only 2000mah capacity )

    • @zahimo
      @zahimo 6 років тому +3

This is a lithium cell, charge is voltage regulated for 4.2V. parallel connection is the right way to do this since the 1 cell parallel charge doesn't care for capacity, only voltage can not be higher than 4.2V.

      All-Express is selling a 19v battery bank. That’s $70.
      It's expensive. It's bulky. It's unnecessarily heavy.
      not compact.
If it's hard to add a battery, you can use a battery bank.

No. Batteries in parallel like this output the exact same voltage as just one battery. They just add capacity. But I would order a new replacement battery pack and buy cells that match the pack exactly. You shouldn't mix and match old and new batteries in any device.

Hi ! Why are you recommending now to remove the old battery ? I mean even if it is dead , since the other batteries are soldered in parallel to the original, even if the original is dead we just lose 2500 mah right? Why would it stop working ?

    • @many8067

I can't tell you in detail, but the capacity of the old battery is different from the new one, so I think it's going to break down, and it hasn't broken since I removed it.

Hey, is there any way to replace the 22650 with a small usb power bank or something that i could recharge with usb, assuming I repurposed the rear usb port for charging. My battery on my Onyx 4 is giving me little more than an hour now. I have a few small, 5000MAH power banks (at least bigger than the standard battery) and wondered if i could swap in one of those or if the amps/voltage wouldn't be sufficient. Im fine with wiring but suck at circuit math. I love this speaker but i hate not being able to recharge via usb or not even use a power bank when it does die. Does anyone know if a power bank could be used?
