Once you receive the approval paper from your German hosts, you need to follow these steps to apply for a Schengen visa to visit Germany
1.Obtain the Approval Paper
2. complete the visa application form.
3.Prepare the Required Documents
• Passport: A valid passport with at least two blank pages and valid for at least three months beyond your intended stay.
• Photographs: Two recent passport-sized photos that meet Schengen visa photo requirements.
• Cover Letter: A cover letter explaining the purpose of your visit and your itinerary.
• Proof of Accommodation: Documents showing where you will stay (e.g., hotel reservation, invitation letter from your hosts).
• Proof of Travel: A round-trip flight reservation or itinerary.
• Travel Insurance: Proof of travel health insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000, valid for all Schengen countries.
• Proof of Financial Means: Bank statements, pay slips, or other documents showing you have sufficient funds for your stay.
• Invitation Letter: An invitation letter from your German hosts detailing the purpose and duration of your visit, along with their contact information.
• Visa Approval Document: The approval paper sent by your German hosts.
4. Schedule an Appointment:
• Book an appointment at the nearest German consulate or visa application center (VFS)
5. Submit Your Application:
• Attend your appointment with all your documents. You may need to provide biometric data (fingerprints).
6. Attend an Interview:
• Be prepared to answer questions about your trip, your hosts, and your ties to your home country.
7. Wait for Processing
8. Collect Your Visa
• Once your visa is approved, collect it from the consulate or visa application center (VFS)

Thanks for your information. It was nice and clear. I have one doubt. I want to apply for a visa to Austria. In the VFS appointment booking, there is a Level 5 section for travel insurance. Is this compulsory? I have already arranged travel insurance from another provider. Please assist with this.

Hi sir we are not sure of this H1b. As of we know You can apply for a Schengen visa from the United States itself. You do not need to return to India to get their H1B visa stamped before applying for a Schengen visa. Please check with the Spain consulate regarding the same.

Hi !!! Yes u can still apply for the visa.. Since you have only one year IT, you can submit you other financial proofs.. with a good bank statement showing them a good financial stability for you.. also don’t forget to mention it in your covering letter about the same!
