Design is [Business] - The Merging Reality of Design and Business

Many organizations have “woken up” to the idea of design being a key business differentiator. Gone are the days when simply having the best-engineered solution would guarantee the success of a product. However, many design professionals today find it hard to connect the dots between the realities of business and design, and shifting design from a team function to a strategic function is still a challenge in many organizations.
In this talk, Satyam shares many of his personally hard-won insights about the relationship of business and design. He will introduce key concepts such as “design premium”, “business risk”, and “impact ratios” that push the conversation further on how design can (and should!) drive business more effectively.

Hey Ryan! UW is one of my dream schools and I'm planning to apply there for admissions on fall 2022. Design and Business are my top major choices and I'm having trouble on deciding which I want to minor and major in. this was great! Does anyone know if the "Pragmatic UX Playbook" that he mentioned is something available to the public? It sounds interesting but couldn't find any more info about it

I think he was referring to a UX playbook specific to his company that would be given to you once you are employed there (so everyone is on the same page).

If you are interested in UX though I'd recommend 'Lean UX' (short and sweet and a great introduction to UX).

The PragmaticUX playbook is an effective playbook created at UXReactor as an internal project. We are in the process of sharing more plays and techniques publicly through different channels starting in a few months.
