Rod , when he said he was selling them on-line I knew he would be asking retail prices . The only good part there is that you are not paying sales taxes or shipping fees . I would have been interested in the Garbage Pail cards .
Still cool. It's so hard to find anyone that's not asking a premium for cards, At least by me. My local card shops $1 box is all 10 cent cards. It's hilarious. Ebay the only way to go and don't have time for cards shows with a small child. His prices on the packs were pretty good though. Honestly his prices on everything were pretty fair.
Typically from my experience in collecting, when someone says you can look through their cards and they continue to hover around and talk alot, they aren't quite actually ready to sell anything. Especially not for anything under retail prices.
Man, I have been looking for an entire Marvel Masterpiece set for a good price for years now! Private picks or sales are hands down the best time to find some hidden gems! Enjoy the week man & much ❤
I've been sitting on some old Marvel sets from when I did a lot of non-sports stuff. Considering breaking them out and sending to PSA the way the singles are selling these days. Man...
@tonyhamilton9764 That's amazing man! I'm a huge comic collector and sold all my sets as a kid unfortunately. Fingers crossed you get some great grades man!
I am so glad that I found you on UA-cam. Loving the videos. What market type app do you like the most? ALT, Market Movers, Card Ladder, or any others? What do you find to be the most accurate and the best overall? Thanks again.
Thank you so much for watching. I actually used ebay app looking at sold comps (thats where I sell most cards). I also use 130 point . I do like market movers and card ladder. I have not use Alt before. You should check out our next podcast, No Bangers! Sports Card Podcast. Its on youtube now.
The wife only comes on my main channel (picking and punching). She would hate card hunting, lol. She will be back in the next month or two when we start hitting up garage sales.
I thought you were more than fair and that he was high with prices for cards from that era. 50c a pack isn't bad but that's about all I'd pay for similar packs from that era in quantity. I thought he might have given you a better deal buying in bulk but at least he took 2 bucks off the total price at the end lol. If it was just the wife there, you'd have gotten a much better deal!
Cool seeing the Garbage Pail Kids. There has to be a series 2 box ( blue packs I think ) unopened out somewhere for a great price. Somebody willing to let them go cheaper than prices they want online are insane. It's not about the value of the cards for me. It's thinking back to when I was a kid and opened the packs and was amazed finally something to rival the girls and the cabbage patch kids.
That feeling you just described is why I open up packs on this channel as shorts. I have some vintage garbage pail kids that I will be opening in the future.
He should've taken the 10K. That's a lot of work there to sell everything and he still might not get to 10K all said and done🤷♂️. Ifs mostly stuff from the junk wax era.
It was def a mixture of prices. That’s why I just stuck to the stuff he didn’t really care about. The card boxes and TMNT packs. I did get all those Jordan cards. That was a good pickup for me.
Recently just came across your channel an I really enjoy it.. I miss going to flea markets was not able to go to one this year, but when i go i mostly look for Baseball cards an video games haha... Do you only look for cards when you go ? or is there other stuff you look for while at these places..
I am a full time picker. I specialize in pop culture items. I have a second channel called Picking and Punching. That’s actually my main channel. That’s where I have all my other finds at. I just keep this channel to putting out card content. If you like these videos, I would check it out.
Nice video. Honestly he prob did you a favor on not selling the marvel cards for a good price. From what I saw it was all just common cards from mid 90s sets that prob were not in the best condition nor were separated by set.
For your buddy that owns a business, im surprised he didn't tell the guy the percentage of retail he could pay to make money and avoid wasting time . Maybe since he was close by him and assumed the guy had common sense on selling to a store 🤯😢 at least you learned which questions to ask before you drive a hour away to source . Theres some wrestling cards that do great 🤑 without knowing i bought a ziplock of wrestling cards for $2 at goodwill and sold all on ebay for around $600 , some sold between 30-60 a piece . I believe those cards came with the figures in the late 90s
@@juantovar4287 my buddy did have a conversation with him and he know that he couldn’t pay retail. One problem that I see time and time again is people think they are ready to sell until it’s time to sell.
That old guy is going to pass away and his kids are going to let someone come in and offer $500 for the lot and he's going to get nothing out of what he does have. Sometimes, you have to be fair and move on.
I’m a full time picker. I see this happen way too often. Parents collect a bunch of stuff that their children want no part of. It’s kind of sad when no one wants their parents collection that they spent years of their life’s building.
Just because YOU'RE reselling them doesn't mean people are entitled to give you a lower price. If it were me I'd automatically raise the price for resellers.
You are 100% right. That is why we normally have a conversation with the people before we go to a private pick. This gentleman contacted my buddies store. He had the conversation that he can’t pay full retail before we went there. He was well aware of situation before we arrived.
Noone has to sell anything to be honest. But you can't take that' stuff with you. And when there is alot of stuff accumulated. Usually it's time to sell off stuff. And the stuff people care the least about is what he was after. Usually sellers are OK with letting that kind of stuff go cheap
Noone robbed anyone. That old man didnt care about the stuff he bought. And you would pay the same prices if you was a reseller. He literally grabbed the stuff noone wanted. That Oldman would still have those cards in the cabinet not going anywere. And his wife was probably happy he made a few extra bucks. No need to call people scum bags.

Sometimes people think they are ready to sell until it’s time to sell. They are emotionally attached to them.
Wow! this is a pretty sweet garage!LOL tons of cool stuff all over the place! Congrats!
It was a fun pick!
Nice to see NASCAR cards represented. I collect modern nascar and vintage football primarily. Rarely see NASCAR cards in videos. Good video.
@@mrapache10 I actually come across a bunch of vintage nascar cards in my videos. I’m located in Tampa. Only 2 1/2 hours from Daytona.
Bro !!!! That’s box of power rangers and Batman were sick !
They were! I was pumped about them.
@ bro them tmnt , power rangers , and Batman were fire dude , I remember going with my grandma and getting them !

Looks like a challenging pick, but you picked up some cool stuff at a good price nonetheless
The key to private picks like this is to find the items he doesn’t really care about. He really didn’t care about that non-sport stuff.
Them wrestling cards in the beginning were sick
They were. I would have loved to had picked them up. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able. The guy did say that he found them at a garage sale.
How much do you sell the non sport card packs for ?
We sell them in our whatnot auctions. They usually sell multiple pack lots $10.
I appreciate your videos bro ! Very educational and let’s see some more of your wife ! I wanna see her spend your money like mine does hahaha

Omg...Marvel cards and Garbage Pail Kids Big fan of those. Hard to find the old ones.
I am too. I really wanted those marvel cards just to dig through them. It would have been so much fun.
I wish I can find places like this. Oh my lord
They are out there. You just need to search for them.

I’ll take that two dollars to the next dollar bin, lol. I was waiting for someone to say something about the “deal” he gave me 😂
Should have picked up those Spider-Man cards if it the set that I know is pretty hard to find. Thanks for sharing the trip great show.
I was trying to but he didn’t have a price. He wanted time to do research on them.
same here. the Spiderman cards were awesome
You should get the garbage pail kids, mistake good for ebay or wathnot
I know they are good but he wouldn’t give me a price on it.

Those look like 89 Upper Deck Baseball sets but they weren't. Something SD Padres?
It was mostly 1990-92 stuff.

I thought the same thing when I saw it!
typical he wanted full comp for the good stuff sound about right really hard to get good deals nowadays
Deals are tough but you just need to find items they don’t really care about.
@PickingandPunchingCards true u gotta point
I'd pass on this stuff unless it's dirt cheap..Lot of work for minor profits... My guess is it's been picked through... Not enough good stuff there..

Robbing? More like the old man looking to rob buyers at some of those prices for junk wax era cards. You must be new to collecting.
