I recognize the FAMOUS Kef B-139 woofers in the IMF enclosures from my speaker-building days. Also back in the day, I had a Revox a-77, Then a Teac 3340S when I got in a band, for agent tapes. The thing is? Back then the Japanese machines like your AKAI, blew them out of the water for the top-end response! I have a Crown CX-844 that I'm selling. Best of luck to you! ❤
Those IMFs look identical to a pair i had which were sold to me as mark 3 pro monitors. The only differences between domestic and professional models at this point in time was Formica on the professional vs veneer on the domestic apparently.
