Key word: MONSTER! The Hulk is supposed to be a monster. While the smart Hulk has always been a fun novelty from time to time, the monstrous uncontrolled raging beast is the truest and most pure version of the character. He needs to come back and stay.
He can be both funny and scary, idk why y'all want him to be JUST scary. I don't like how the MCU turned him into a complete man-child, but at the same time, the idea of him being this completely terrifying beast 100% of the time seems very limiting for the character. Its a solo movie, ofc they are going to make Hulk look ultra realistic and in the best way possible. In a group movie like Avenger's, they need to keep costs low enough to have every character in the movie, so they had to simplify the way Hulk looks to reduce CGI budget.

1:45 I actually teared up in the movies a little bit when I first saw this part. It was so awesome to see the eyes turn green before transforming into the hulk.
The appreciation for classic horror and monster movie formulas here is *chef kiss*. Hidden in darkness and obscured by his surroundings, he truly feels dangerous here. This encounter feels as visceral and intense as it needed to be. A perfect introduction to the Hulk as a terrifying and powerful character.
What this this scene did really well was amplifying the Hulk’s fierce. The idea of fighting the Hulk in dark, closed corners with no way out is just terrifying.
This will always be my favorite interpretation of the Hulk because it made me understand and appreciate Bruce Banner more. In a lot of the comics and even in the Ang Lee Hulk movie, a lot of the Bruce Banner scenes are hard to get through because he's just constantly on edge and angsting about the Hulk and how badly he wants it out and his scenes are just basically filler until he gets angry and smashes everything. In this movie, I actually felt for Bruce because they showed the aftermath of his Hulk-outs. After this incident he wakes up in the middle of nowhere, no idea where he is, no idea what language to speak, has to beg on the corner just to buy a new set of clothes, whatever semblance of a life had in his previous location is gone, along with the little progress he made in controlling Hulk, so now he has to start all over again. He has flashbacks of everything he's done as Hulk, but they come suddenly and don't make sense. And even when he finds Betty he can't really be with her the way he wants because due to his condition he'll Hulk out if his heart-rate spikes. By the third act, I was fully onboard with Bruce Banner wanting the Hulk out of him, which is something I thought I would never say about a Hulk story.
This Huld never did anything comparable to Avengers Hulk fighting the Chitauri Monster or beating Fenris. Stop making shit up just because you dont like Disney
After all these years and having seen this movie numerous times, I've never heard the Hulk say " leave me alone". That makes this scene so much better. I'm in agreement with most of these people, I think this was the best version of The Incredible Hulk in any of his cinematic forms.
This has got to be the most underrated movie in the entire MCU and is an easy top 5 in the franchise for me. Banner is a competent adult instead of a bumbling fool. His Hulk isn't a dumb gorilla but an aggressive, menacing beast of raw anger. He has chemistry with Betty unlike whatever they tried with him and Black Widow. The distracting jokes that grind the narrative to a halt which the MCU has become known for so much aren't present. The characters are taken seriously and treated right instead of made into clowns. If only the MCU could have kept the tone of earlier movies.
Hulk was gimped for the same reason Captain Marvel only appears for like five minutes tops in Endgame. At the upper limit of their power they break all sense of logic, which works in a comic book medium but not so much in movies. True Hulk would be nigh impervious to everything and have no theoretical limit on his physical ability. Imagine if he just pulped Thanos to mush on Thor's ship in Infinity War. True to comic Hulk? Probably. Good cinema? Not at all.
@@therealmistahjay i've heard about that, i listened to him speak his side of the story on Joe Rogan's podcast and it sounded like he wanted to take the Hulk in a direction with a deeper more spiritual meaning, but Marvel didn't want that, and well you can see what they wanted instead (which isn't all bad, i enjoyed him mostly in avengers and ragnarok) if living in a reality where Edward wrote the dialogue and it didn't end with a shitty attempt at professor hulk, i think i would have preferred that
5:06-5:10 I always get chills when I hear his shout/roar. Why couldn’t they have kept Savage Hulk like this for the rest of the MCU instead of a weakling who somehow is too afraid to fight
I would have been fine with him becoming smarter had they actually incorporated his battle experience on Sakaar, it would have been so cool seeing him pull of some martial arts while enraged.

Facts
Man this Hulk really was a intimidating badass.
