It's why I refuse to sing. I'd rip my still beating heart out to show you the pain it feels and, does to itself then, I'd probably off myself. Just the power I feel from him singing hits, so, fucking, hard. The gutteral scream gets me every time. It sums up how I feel when I hear these songs and feel my own pain resurface.

For over a decade I didn’t speak with my father because I couldn’t understand why he was the way he was. I carried around that anger and resentment just as I carry his name, and it did nothing but make me feel sad and alone. My father and I have since reconnected and it’s nice to know that he feels the light of my love as an elderly man.
Rest in peace Charles and thank you, brother.

My autistic 6 yrs old son still doesn’t speak but he very clearly sings the chorus of this song perfectly enunciating each syllable. This is the only song he sings along with. This song allowed me to hear my son say words for the first time. He doesn’t call me “dad.” He doesn’t call my wife “mama.” We still haven’t heard the words “I love you mom and dad.” But hearing him sing along to this song gives me hope that he will start speaking soon. I will forever remember my son’s first words, “I’m going through changes!”

My sweet son is now 18 years old and has autism. It's been a hard road. I know exactly where you're coming from. Just remember he has a disability which makes even the simplest of speech very difficult for him. I won't BS you. It's hard on the heart not to be able to hear your son say dad or I love you. I know.
But I'll say this ..If he could say I love you mom and dad 100 times in a row he most def would. But he just cant. Drew's 18 now and he has told me this in so many words. So Ive come to peace with it. He is so much more to me than words will ever say. He is a gift. He has taught me so many things about myself. I am greatful. I know he and your son can't talk much ..but Cherish his soul.
And Stay strong my brother. For real. For him. And remember there are so many of us parents going thru this with you. You're not alone.
      Peace

brothers and sisters, it's later then we think you better go back to your mama and hug her and let her know "mama i love you",and pap, he did the best he can for you.

    She was my woman
    I loved her so
    But it's too late now
    I've let her go
    I'm going through changes
    I'm going through changes
    We shared the eve's
    We shared each day
    In love together
    We found a way
    But soon the world
    Had its evil way
    My heart was crying
    Love went astray
    I'm going through changes
    I'm going through changes
    It took so long
    To realize
    That I can still hear
    Her last goodbyes
    Now all my days
    Are filled with tears
    Wish I could go back
    And change these years
    I'm going through changes

    I'm not crying, you're crying!
Die hard metal fan here, big fan of Oz & Sabbath, and much in the same way Cash turned "Hurt" into a better song, Charles made this song into what "should have been". Knowing that he did this song because of the loss of his mother, and that he originally didn't want to do it, beings it to a whole new level.
    ❤️ RIP Mr. Bradley ❤️

My wife and I are Canadian and eloped at San Francisco City Hall for our wedding. We had tickets to see Charles at the Great American Music Hall that night. We had the world's best wedding singer... After the show, he worked his way through the audience. Some of our fellow concert goers knew we had eloped and made sure Charles met us. We both got the best bear hugs of our lives. Still married... ❤

Bri Fitz Excellent comment couldn’t have said it better. No matter where you live, what you look like, or what language you speak, we are all just human beings. We all cry tears and we all bleed red.

Im doing a tribute page for this man as a part of my certifications for web development. I was in the process of pulling the code to attach this performance to the page and my god, I had to stop for a minute and hear this performance through. Had me pulling tears at the end and texting my loved ones. Bless this man and the music he gave us!

This is Otis Redding-calibre soul singing. Every last ounce of his soul is emptied out onstage. The pain, the loss-- it's all there in his performance, raw & unfiltered. One of the most moving singers I've heard in years... 🦃😬🦃😬🦃😬

I’m sitting here crying. I haven’t gone through what some of you in the comments have gone through. My parents, both of them, are sitting metres away from me. I tire of them, maybe I am to blame.. but I know it wasn’t my fault. Friends I need the power to just go upto them. I haven’t spoken or even looked into my fathers eyes in the last three weeks. It’s making our relationship strained. I’m destroyed by this song. Absolutely. I need the strength to go up to him and tel him I still care. Let love stand a chance.
