Awww. Thank you so much ❣️ I had to edit my response to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to share that with me. I threw caution to the wind and was very transparent in this video, which of course made me very nervous. Thank you again. 🫶🏽
I also noticed that those jars still have the rings on them. You should remove the rings before placing the jars in storage for the very reason you just discovered, they will hide a false seal. If you remove the ring from the bad jar the lid will probably just fall off. About 12 hours after removing jars from the canner, remove the rings. Then tap on the top of each jar and listen for a difference in sound, a jar with a bad seal will have a dull, hollow sound. Finally, lift each jar a few inches off the counter by it's lid for a few seconds. If the seal is good it should be able to hold the weight of the jar. If you find a bad seal at this stage you can put the jar in the refrigerator and eat the food in the next few days. 24 hours after removing the jars from the canner, wash them in hot soapy water. In addition to cleaning the jars this also serves as a final test of the seals. Then you can label them and put them in storage. Also, I'm very leery about food canned by someone else unless I know them well and I know they use proper canning methods. If someone tried to give me jars that still had the rings on them I would politely refuse and explain why.
i canned chicken this week....but still unsure since i didn't hear the popping. I decided to just freeze it, but you gave me the confidence to try again. I did can pineapple, i was more comfortable with that...plus it will not be on the shelf long.
You also will know what’s safe by doing it yourself and storing the processed foods without the ring. That way if the seal is broken you will see the top is loose. The ring on gives you a false seal. Store your processed foods in a single layer (stacking puts on too much weight can pop seal) without the ring. I’m just learning too. ❤
Please watch RoseRed Homestead, she provides scientific facts and is extremely knowledgeable. I've learned so much from her. Thanks for giving us something to think about. 😊😊
What's so funny is I have 3 16 quart pressure canners and 1 water-bath canner. And I just started back and now I can't stop. You will do fine. You got this.
Wait!! I know this Video is about canning, And A Great Lesson learned, But Did I See A Black Law dictionary? Yes!! 😂😅😅 I Will tell you the Story, Oh My!! 💜👍🏾
Don't be afraid, it's not hard. It took me a bit to get enough courage to use pressure canner. Get a ball blue book and start with some of the basic recipes.
I doubt there is anyone out there who starts canning without some fear. I still think about the risks, having canned off and on since the 1970s, which makes me a 100% by-the-book canner. There are those who are willing to take risks, many of whom have great disdain for any advice from the government. I would never eat food that others have canned because I can't know whether they follow the rules. (And for the record, there are highly respected UA-camrs that break the rules, so I'd never watch a UA-cam video to learn HOW to can. Or dehydrate.) The fact that you were given a faulty jar of food does render the other jar suspect - how was it processed, and was it made using Grandma's recipe. You may still have the fear, but I'll bet you still have the want-to. I hope you join the countless other canners that have safely fed their families home-processed foods for generations! Love to you!
I have grown up around canning, it’s not that big of a deal just jump. And good luck I would suggest starting with ugly chicken it’s just raw pack to check and it’s easiest especially if you get boneless skinless chicken breast start there. It’s the easiest as far as I’m concerned.
I canned for the first time yesterday and I was so worried about checking my seals. Thank you!
Congratulations on starting your canning journey!!! 🎊 👏🏽 🥳
You have been helpful. I just tuned in and start watching how to determine the good from the bad

This is an amazing observation on fear and walking in your purpose. You got this mom because He has you!!!
Awww. Thank you, baby girl! He does. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

No, sir. You are not alone, but we can do this!

That's certainly where I've landed - doing it myself. Thank you!
thanks for sharing. I'm right there with you. Let's do it. We got this. We can do it.💚
🎶Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can! 🎶
Thank you for sharing. This is really good information. I never knew that before. Never really did canning
You are so welcome. Thanks for stopping by. ❣️
You should also take the canning rings off during storage. Im sure its already been mentioned in the comments.
Happy canning.
Thank you!
Marie at Homestead Heart also has good training videos and shows how to do it safely.
Yes, I watch her!
Please watch RoseRed Homestead, she provides scientific facts and is extremely knowledgeable. I've learned so much from her. Thanks for giving us something to think about. 😊😊
Thanks for the tip!
Rose Red Homestead is an awesome teacher. She’s my go-to guide for home food preservation
Thanks for sharing!
I love her and she shows different types of canning.

Thank you, Mike 👊🏽
For sure don’t rush into something you’re not comfortable with. 😊
Absolutely. I won't. 😊

Thanks so much for the encouragement ❣️🫶🏽
Don’t be afraid, cause if you know, then you know to get a good job do it yourself! Then you know 💯🙏
Thank you!
please inform the person so they can also be aware!
Absolutely!
I'm still scared 😂
🤣 I understand!
Wait!! I know this Video is about canning, And A Great Lesson learned, But Did I See A Black Law dictionary? Yes!! 😂😅😅 I Will tell you the Story, Oh My!! 💜👍🏾
Yes Ma'am, you did! I would love to hear your story! 😁
The one on the left looks water canned. Things that are water canned tend to be brighter then if it was
pressure canned...
Thanks for stopping by. Unfortunately, the seal was broken on it either way. 😔
Don't be afraid, it's not hard. It took me a bit to get enough courage to use pressure canner. Get a ball blue book and start with some of the basic recipes.
Awww thanks. I do have a couple of Ball books. 😊

Thank you so very much for your comments. I absolutely do still have the desire, despite the experience 🫶🏽
The temperature has to come down slow enough for the cans to seal
Thanks for sharing 👍🏽
Replace the battery in your smoke detector
Lol. We replaced the whole detector a while ago. 😁 Thank you!
also, the rings hopefully werent left on leaving the failed lids incognito
Right. Good point.
Phew chile!
Right

I'm over here hoping to God that the person who gave those to y'all doesn't mess around and eat one that's not properly sealed. 🤯
Right Psalm!!!
